  1. Well it is so simple I wish Someone would have thought of that a long time ago......Oh Wait!! They did! And Someone decided to Call it a Travel Bug!! Do I really have to give you a sign?
  2. The EXACT words that relate to this discussion are; Geocaches do not solicit for any purpose. Therefore it will be against current guidelines.

    Wikimapia?

It is from Google. Click and look at the bottom left of the MAP We may be able to get it for free, but the wikimapia site will have to pay for it after about a day or so of geocaching use. Then they will charge Groundspeak to use it, and we will have come full circle. Under map type you get eithet Google, OSM, or their generic maps, which in MY area appear to be worse than OSM.
  4. Found it Cache placement is in an area that is highly sensitive to additional foot and vehicular traffic including but not limited to archaeological sites, historical sites and cemeteries. Cache defaces or destroys property (public or private) either in the hiding of or searching for the cache. from HERE I was wrong in my first post. So as long as it meets standard guidelines is is ok.
  5. Somewhere I've read that although Groundspeak will allow them, they don't like "historical locations" For various reasons, including damage caused by cachers being where they shouldn't, and having more people visit then the site can handle. Think of it like a museum...It's all well and nice to look, but if everyone starts touching and climbing, and trying to look for "treasure" damage WILL be done, even if it is not intentional. I'll try to find the link.
  6. I've always been able to see on the maps where the PM only caches are. And as long as they are traditional they are where the map says they are...You only can't see the cache page-including exact co-ords. There is apparently also a way to view and/or log PM only caches without being a premium member.
  7. HAve you tried looking by country-Canada? there are like 5 results. try the third one by clicking HERE
  8. Anything off the sidewalk/road I wear good boots with ankle support. Mine currently have a 6 inch ankle, It helps prevent snake bites, thorns and such, and generally prevents you form injuring yourself. Think walking on a muddy, rocky trail up hill. You slip and with good boots or even hiking shoes you get back up and walk. With runners/tennis shoe whatever you call them, you are more likely to roll and injure your ankle.
  9. I just got NM Weekly, and it was all torn up, and wet.
  10. Where's this dislike button...I want a dislike button. And a "You are a !@$%#" button" and a "Here's your sign" button....I should probably stop now.
  11. Is there a reason you need to write the tracking code...all the one's I've seen had the numbers already on them
  12. Are you sure these caches aren't cross-listed on other caching sites? Just because it has been archived on this site doesn't mean it isn't still active on another. Something to consider. Doesn't matter if it's listed Garmin's or one of the other sites....He left a note for the owner to contact him-the OP-if the CO wanted the container back. Since all the happened was his logs were deleted, and the OP has tried to contact the CO with no response, well then the CO is out of luck if he wants the container back. Seems to me the CO has just decided he don't want anyone to have any fun.
  13. Yup. Premium members can get notifications emailed to them. Simply get email on your phone. GMail, yahoo. That kind of thing. Thing is you will have to have internet on your phone to look up the co-ords. You can set it up by going HERE and changing your email clicking HERE
  14. Yes. As long as it isn't a physical cache. In fact, I have one which is the exact spot as another cache-the cache is on a sign and the hint which is a stage for a puzzle of mine is what is written on the sign.
  15. Now I know it's a real code, please no posting of anything else, or It could be completely solved. If there is a moderator reading perhaps you could lock the thread?
  16. Meaning what? There's not really a cache?
  17. Ok So I have a puzzle cache to do. cache GCXXX It is comprised of one's and zero's. It have exactly(if my math is correct) 10656 digits. It is NOT binary. And it is on the geocheck.org top 10 hardest puzzles with no solvers. I am wondering if anyone has knows if it is an existing code and what the code is called, or if you think the CO made it up. I am NOT ASKING FOR HELP SOLVING. I am asking if anyone has ever seen a code like that before. That is simply all I want to know. EDIT:Now I know it's a real code, please no posting of anything else, or It could be completely solved. If there is a moderator reading perhaps you could lock the thread?
  18. So how DO you do that? I've got an OpenMap account. Do I just turn on tracking in my GPSr and the plug it into the computer and let the website do it's thing? or do I have to manually enter stuff?
  19. I would appreciate anyone doing that for me. However certain containers of mine are clear/un-cammo'd and clearly marked so painting would be a bit over the top. Personally I carry replacement logs for those that are full. That guy just seems the sour grapes type. If I was in your spot, I'd replace the cache with an ammo can-then see how ticked off he gets
  20. I think it would be a great idea. My 2 cents; why not make them trackable? You could buy Tb's and engrave the number (spending $5-$7 each) or just buy the numbers off Groundspeak. They are $75 for 50 trackable numbers. if you did that you could custum name them and have a custom picture for trackables. THAT would be really cool.
  21. You get FTF. The other person chose not to go after the cache because they are not supposed to be there. Honestly how many LPC's, parking lot, guard rail caches etc have permission to be there? Until 100% of the caches have permission to be there, you got a FTF as fairly as someone who went out during a rainstorm with someone else saying the would've but it was too wet.
  22. When there are 5 or 6 or 10 logs saying the log is full(on an abandoned cache) and people still go find it and complain it's full. I mean that like asking for hot coffee and expecting it to be ice cold, common sense people! It's not gonna magically get a new log, if you want one in there do it yourself....end mini-rant
  23. You will go to XYZ cache page-or whichever cache the TB is in, and on the right side there should be a box that looks like reads Inventory Best of the Bad Trackable View all Trackables View past Trackables What are Trackable Items? With the words Best of the Bad Trackable being replaced with the name of the trackable that is in the cache. Click on the trackable's name. On the right near the top, you will see Trackable Options Found it? Log it! Watch This Trackable Item Print Info Sheet map View in Google Earth Click the Found it? Log it! option. You will be given a page that looks like the one you use to log a find on a cache. On the Type of logdrop down menu you either select Retrieve from XYZ cache or if for some reason that option is not available select grab it from somewhere else You will then have to enter the tracking code below(The numbers on the trackable) and put something like "grabbed TB from XYZ cache" in the log.
