  1. ok, i just did a trial test with a new micro container idea, the little plastic paint containers that you get with the scale model kits (as seen in pic below) So I put a piece of paper in the contained, along with a few 5p pieces to weight it down and submerged it in water for about 2 ays, didn't exactly have high hopes, but took it out, not a drop of water had gotten inside. These could prove great micro-cache containers if my next test goes well, i'm gonna write something on paper using a fine-liner/felt pen (more chance of running if it has water contact) and then submerge it for about 5 days. 1. Ideas on if you think these would be good for micro-cache's. 2. Have you used these as cache containers before and if so how would you rate them. Will let you know the result of my next test on them.
  2. i know that cache's aren't money making oportunity, and i know that value will always drop if its high value, so maybe try and make it a decent sized cache with a wider selection of items of decentish value though not excessive (items worth few £ each maybe) make it a highish value cache but with more swaps to spread the value.
  3. So maybe mix like a couple of decent valued items to make it a high value cache, but not just one high value item, increase the chance of people taking and leaving something roughly similar value, and get ready not to be disappointed when it inevitably does reduce in value. edit: also i like the idea of making it a multi-cache too, make people work for the cache.
  4. Hi there, I was thinking of starting a high value cache off, what would people be like with honesty if they came across a cache with lets say a mobile phone or something in it? are they likely to trade it for another high value item or just muggle it and not lg their visit? I was thinking of starting off with a basic old phone of mine, fully working etc... touchscreen, worth about £15 (so not extremely valuable). obviously it would need to be a decent sized cache, fully watertight and in low muggle area and hard to find, but what do you think of the risk?
  5. Yeh I'm slightly hopeful (gotta be better than what I've been using) At £1 for the 8 of them its worth seeing if they do the job.
  6. Hi guys, was just wondering what the best value cache containers you've bought were. I just got some nice cheap, pretty looking containers at my local poundland, 8 small containers (meant for spices/sauces ect...) Far from camouflaged (they're pink/orange/blue and green.) but 8 containers for £1 is pretty good for what I got, they seem pretty watertight too. Note: The Pepsi Max (500ml) was 2 for £1 at Poundland and is not one of my cache containers, it's there for size reference only. ---- Also picked up some nice sheets of handmade card charms in The Works for £1 a sheet, which should make nice tradables.
  7. Caching is aimed at having a fun experience, the only person they're really cheating is themselves.
  8. I only went out today to find my 3rd cache, im pretty new too, some of the item's i've spotted so far though are things such as those little yellow stretchy men, mini wooden yoyo, kids costume jewelry, etc... I really wanted the wooden yoyo, though had nothing to trade so i just signed the log book and left it there for the next person to take. To be honest a child would probably have more fun with a wooden yoyo than me anyway as I'm 21. Also occasionally you may come across a trackable such as a geocoin or travel bug, you enter the code on the site to help track it and move it onto a new cache. Though not to confuse you too early i wont go into detail, if you do find one you should read up on it then. Good luck anyway, i'm sure your kids will love geocaching.
  9. my phone is very low end, at the moment i'm using google maps for geocaching as it's a cheap £15 phone incapable of running anything decent.
  10. Well, the travel bug i found today has been traveling since 2006 according to its page, and has been throughout various parts of the world and traveled nearly 3,500 miles. yet its current location is only 50 mile or so from where it was originally released 5 years ago lol.
  11. Yeh kinda expecting it to go missing eventually, but who knows, I may get to most of my targets before then. But I've had another idea too, make an impression of my thumbprint into some clay or something, then put it in a small clear container and seal it shut. Would that work well do you think?
  12. Hehe just found my 2nd cache today was a trackable too, gonna have some fun taking some pictures before I move it on to the next cache
  13. Yeh I will be getting premium membership shortly I think.
  14. There are lots of places in the world I would like to visit, and until I get a job, passport, etc... that's not gonna happen anytime soon. So I've decided that something Travel Bug related would be a good idea, just ordered a travel bug off one of the international sites listed on the main site. My question is, I'm thinking of making whatever I attach the travel Bug too contain my avatar and get people to upload pics as it travels the world (with certain locations in the description that i want it to visit) to the gallery of my travel bug page. What would you recommend as a good idea to attach to the travel bug that I can easily incorporate my avatar onto? A few ideas I had are keyrings (would be simple to do), or a small teddy bear with my avatar embroided on the chest (though may be a little costly) Any other ideas that you would recommend? Many Thanks u1bd2005
  15. Thanks, looks about the price range I was thinking too, just searched on ebay and can get it for around £40, so as soon as I get some money I maybe getting one.
  16. Hi, looking for a cheap entry-level GPS for a beginner (hate my phone for gps, its just so slow and useless), where can I get a gps (in the uk) and how much would I be looking to pay for a entry-level gps which is relatively ok for geocaching. Not expecting anything great as I want to spend as little as possible atm due to being unemployed and being new to geocaching (when I get a job will upgrade). What are your recommendations for something cheap and easy to use? many thanks u1bd2005
  17. if you make it as an image and upload it to a site such as tinypic etc.... then use html to add it to the description as such, should do the trick. <img src="www.tinypic.com/image.png">
  18. Hi, I'm Daniel (Aka. Daniel), I'm 21 and decided to try GeoCaching as my sister recommended it to me. She took me along to help find my first Cache and it was pretty fun, so I decided to get involved. Been reading through all the help sections etc... and have been out today and set up two of my own caches in places that are special to me (I go there most days as they're both peaceful places where I have time to think, and yeh if you know me you'll be thinking "what? you think? yeh right!" well i do lol.) Anyway, they're due to be reviewed so should be up in 3 days or so, no hurry, should be able to get a few more finds under my belt while the volunteers are reviewing them (wait, I have tracksuit bottoms on, lets say under my waist instead of belt.) Anyway bit about me, I like going out on my mountain bike which is why I thought this would be a nice activity to do while out cycling. I have 5 sisters and 1 brother, and a loada nephews and neices as well as a great nephew, very big family. I like computers, currently unemployed but looking for a job. What else can I say? well, any questions just ask
