  1. you know, i really wish i knew someone in the states that I could do that. it would make my life so much easier and it would bypass all the duty crap at the border you know a lot of people in the states. THEY'RE CALLED GEOCACHERS!!! they are also a friendly lot and would have gladly helped you until you insulted us. haha ya, they people that run the Groundspeak and geocache shops are cachers too. why don't they ship internationally then? that would be helping us out they are also a private company. this just gets better and better. your reading skills have been affected by the poutine also. if they are a "private company" why do they host an international website? why is it that I can track geocaches in places other than the US? as far as i'm concerned they would benefit if they had an international account. there would be so many users ordering from them that didn't live in the states. Why don't you (deleted by moderator) and stop drooling over poutine? what is it with Yanks and poutine??
  2. yup, sure did. took me awhile to find a partner that has some. i would think that a reputable company like Groundspeak would ship internationally. maybe they should think about creating an international account for just the reason of some people won't want to deal with a third party company or other partner to get what they want. i'd rather order from the Groundspeak or geocache shops than any other partner company. but if they don't want my business then i'll take it somewhere else.

  5. i understand being upset, but is it really necessary to insult an entire country for the actions of a private company? That's the way I read it. It's WHAT you say so much as how you say it. That was insulting. easy for you guys to say that you have no problem trying to buy something from Groundspeak or geocaching shops. I have to find some third party dealer in canada and pay the price for doing so. i think its rather (edited by moderator) that they will not ship internationally. i have tried to order TB tags from both Groundspeak and geocaching and both times i get hit with a message saying that because I live in Canada I am not good enough to recieve those items. Thats insulting
  6. I went and ordered a load of TB tags from the Groundspeak website and was patiently awaiting their arrival at my house, and they never showed. I wrote a polite email to Groundspeak asking where they might be. I get an email back today saying that Groundspeak doesn't ship internationally!! WTF!!!!! if they don't ship internationally how do they manage to get business? I am pretty (deleted by moderator) sure that many MANY international geocachers use the Groundspeak shops to buy things. where the hell would someone NOT living in the "all mighty" US buy TB tags?? ps. i'm just a little upset
  7. so if we have to contact Groundspeak to have our membership transfered ( i just bought a new one, the old one is a month from expirey anyway) why don't we ask them to change our profile names too? they have the technology don't they? i'll have to write them and ask them to change my hides anyway,
  8. Thanks a bunch, i'll try this out and see what happens
  9. I recently bought an iQue M3 for the built in GPS feature and for paperless caching. i have also got a copy of Mapsource software. I can't seem to link my GSX program with the mapsource in the iQue. is there a different program that I could get to talk to mapsource or topo so i don't have to keep switching back and forth to check the cache log? i also want to find a program that i can see the cache log and click a menu and have a GOTO function so i don't have to enter the coords into the mapsource or topo software. anyone have any suggestions or ideas? Thanks
  10. hahahaha i've never heard or seen that one before, its kinda hard to remember

    Rescue me!

Okay, here I was caching in Powell River going for quite the hike to find my next cache when my pager goes off. ( I work for the Coast Guard and carry a pager in the evening so Rescue Center can page me when something goes wrong). I call my base. no reports yet as to the situation. I start heading for the truck to get back to the base when it goes off again. This time there is a mayday message on it. I run back to the truck and drive as fast and safe as possible back to the base, and jump into the rubber boat and shove off. when we arrive on scene, there is a pleasure boat towing a small aluminum boat with two people on it. we get them onboard our boat and setup to tow the little boat into the gas station. change in plans, we are requested to tow them back to their campsite just north of Comox called Bates Beach (sp?). we don't know where it is. The one fellow on the boat hands me a GPS and says "here's the coordinates for it". I take the GPS and log the coords into our mapping system on the rubber boat. I go to hand him back his GPS and for some reason I see a thing on his GPS that said "Geocache points". I turn to him and ask "you don't happen to be geocachers, do you?" and his reply was "well, actually ya, we just started a little while ago" Well bust my buttons, what are the chances of this? A geocacher coming to save anothe geocacher in the middle of Strait of Georgia between Powell River and Comox? Too funny if you ask me. So i have to sit and talk to him about caching during our 2 hour tow back to his camp. I never got his cache name, but I did get his real name. Which i won't give out for confidentiality reasons. To the fellow and his little brother that we towed back to camp, if you read this, please let me know your cache name so i can keep an eye out for you in the bushes next time Thanks for readin my awesome story
  12. hmmmm, well I am always travelling to different places because of my job, and I am never without my GPS and cache log. right now I am stationed in Powell River and I must say that the coastline here is the best view i've seen in quite awhile. I have a few caches at the top of my list now and plan on getting them before I head home. if anyone is in Powell River and would like some caching company, please feel free to email me cmollet99@hotmail.com Happy Hunting
  13. Okay, I better introduce myself. Ive been caching now for almost a year and I love every minute of it. i have been tryin to corrupt my friends. I think i have succeeded in getting another friend to join up. I cache as PackRat420. i am also a founding member of TeamDawgChark. I hail from Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. I use a dinosaur of a GPS that my Dad leant to me, its a marine based GPS but it works for what i need it for. i am hoping to find more people close to home to cache with. See you on the trails! Chuck
  14. alrighty, heres the scoop. ive been tryin to find a really good GPS and PDA to use for caching. i have come across the new Garmin iQue M3. i have been reading reviews for it and found its great for driving directions and things like that, but no mention of how it is offroad. what i am trying to find out is does it keep good signal while out in the bush caching, or wil i be flying blind (so to speak). Thanks for everyone that inputs your comments. Chuck
