  1. Congrats Mrs Rusty! Witnesses you say? Are there ny photos?
  2. I, for one, am more upset at the stupidity of the State Agencies. What I mean is if the NYDEC (Department of Environmental Conservation) who is in charge of deciding how to best protect the state's environment decides that Geocaching is an activity with such minimal impact that it can approve it with no permits in ALL NYDEC parks, who is NY Parks and Recreation to overturn that decision. Aren't they the see-saw and merry go round experts? NYS Parks (OPRHP) have not overuled DEC. They are separate agencies with different land holdings. The permit system being discussed only affects NYS Parks, not DEC forests, etc. or the Adirondack or Catskill "parks" which are DEC forest preserve and private lands, bounded by the infamous blue lines. Briansnat is correct.
  3. Abandon all hope for this one. DEC said they removed it, and I saw that it is true.
  4. Splicingdan- I verified the cache had been removed in my email reply to you on 12/27/04. DEC wasted no time in removing caches in that area back in '01. I believe that some groups and individuals within DEC take a more strict interpretation of the rules than others at DEC. It will take time for the recent policy change to filter through the organization. Perhaps a more formal directive will persuade the "hardline Holdouts" to ease up. Lets hope so.
