  1. I recently upgraded (I think) from a 60CSX to the Oregon 400t. I find that when using the Oregon in even light cover it never seems to lock on a direction to go. Also, it will jump from 17ft away to 35 in the blink of an eye. Never had that trouble with the 60CSX. Am I expecting too much from the 400t or could there be an issue with it. Thanks.
  2. Has anyone tried to do a pocket query with "Caches along a route"? I can't seem to get it to work. Also I would like to get the route I made to be public and can't seem to find a way to do that. Thanks.

  8. Has the mapsend already been activated and applied to a computer? Or has it been activated at all? The reason I ask is that, if already on a computer, I don't think it can be transferred to another?? If not activated, does it have to be bought? Roddy........It doesn't have an activation code like the Garmin does. Please reply to my email address as I don't come in here that often.........PS.....I am also selling a Garmin Map76CXs with Mapsource Version 7 DVD. It has a usb cable to connect to the computer. It requires a Code to open the maps but I will provide that if you want the unit....it is in excellent shape.....I am also going to put it online here at geocaching.com but I'll give you first crack at either unit. $210.00 for the Garmin. $175 for the Magellan.

  11. Can't use a metal detector? I'm sure there is a good reason for that ordinance.
  12. Wouldn't bother me a twit if GC.com just disappeared tomorrow. I believe I could survive on boating, fishing, golf and beer......no problem.
  13. USAF 1966-1970. Served proudly at Tan Son Nhut during 1968 Tet offensive. Also stationed at Camron Bay. Father was pilot of B-17, flying 25 missions over Germany during WWII.
  14. The 60c or 60cs is very durable...however. I am not at all satisfied with the connector for the USB cable. It is flimsy at best and will eventually pull out of the back of the unit. Other than that it is the best out there.
  15. After looking at the GGA Website, they look like a great candidate. Georgia is beautiful and Atlanta is a cool place to visit.
  16. Although unable to attend the event in Jacksonville due to some dog sitting problems, we did make the 4wd event in the Osceloa Forest. clan_barron, Steve, and tdjvolks made sure the rest of us felt comfortable and at ease. The trails through the forest were incredible to do some mud slinging and 4 wheeling. Hats off to NEFGA for a great job and some truly fine members. CacheStan and TexasJ
  17. What GC.com needs to do is approve more Virtual Caches. Put your virtuals where there will be no impact from public viewing. If you need a trinket in order to be satisfied with your find then send me $20 and I will mail you a trinket.
  18. I would suggest that GC.com broaden their rules on virtual caches. Or caching will go the way of the horse and buggy. It won't be worth the trouble to look or hide a cache on a questionable parcel of land. However, a virtual is not a container containing trade items.
  19. dead white man said "small roadside park."Then went on to say "This park had several acres ". Which was it? Small or several acres? Either way, maybe the hider was strapped for time, had physical limitations or maybe he planned to return another day to hide a regular cache. It is also possible that all the hider intended was to get you out to that nice roadside park with "some nice wooded land and older landscaped area." I see no reason to post negative comments about the quality of ANY cache. The only reason to post negative is possibly if the area might pose a danger to a cacher ie: wasps nests, gopher holes, falling trees etc.The object of geocaching IMHO is the excitement of finding the cache. You have a great day.
  20. I use mine to mark a hot fishing spot so I am able to return there some other day.
  21. I am stunned that you folks don't have better things to do with your time. Numbers, numbers , numbers...it's all about the numbers to some. LOL.
