  1. So interesting. No one says ..... Gee the site is working perfect tonight. My logging is so fast tonight I can not keep up......

It is easy to criticize and for so many so hard to praise. This site is not perfect. But it sure is better than the alternative. I appreciate what they do in the "Emerald City" and I am glad they have to worry about it and not me.

  2. In order for Geocaching to grow, so does the web site.

Howver, as I was reporting a new cache, I couldnt log into the web site after I wasnt allowd to finish entering the final coords for my new puzzle cache.

    ENOUGH is ENOUGH!

We need to get together and get this friggin site working the way it should.....

    I Propose

    1. NO NEW CACHES!

    2 ARCHIVE YOUR ACTIVE CACHES!

    3. MAKE NO MORE DONATIONS IN ANY FORM!

    4. DO NOT REPORT FINDING ANY CURRENT CACHES..

We need to get this site working CORRECTLY and CONTIUNALY if we want our sport to grow. Having "down time" and time when you cant even log in is just bulls***.

The owners need a wake up call....

You'll eventually learn which times to avoid the site.....

Love these people that know all about everything and they have been a member for two months. Maybe if they just shut up and went and found some caches they could figure out how things worked.

  3. I'm planning on placing my first cache. But I got a question to ask and I know its going to develope into a "I got this really unusual thang in a cache."

I'm planning on knitting up a scarf for the ftf prize for the first two caches I'm going to place. I have a location for one, but not the other. I've seen the chain mail balls from one cacher. What others have been found or placed?

Down here in Texas that scarf sound real good about now. The scarf would be very nice. I have placed gift certificates to local surplus store for ammo cans, and unactivated coins. I have seen lottery tickets, coins for adoption, and unactivated coins.

    <_<

  4. Are you using the beta version?? (Google Earth) Check for an update. Worked for me

    I don't think so..

    Google Earth

    4.0.2722

I had just updated and checked and I have yellow pins also. They seem to screw up the icons. Hopefully will be fixed soon. Probably with another update.

    :P

  5. I placed my Unite for Diabetes TB in a local park cache a few weeks ago (destination: Italy) and so far, several people have visited that cache (even dropping off another TB!) but have ignored my TB and not picked it up. What can I do to encourage it to move, even it moves only across town? How long should I give it before I rescue it from that cache and maybe move it to a more often visited one?

There are a lot of people that do not care about TB's and won't pick them up. They just want to do the caches. And then there are the others. It will be picked up soon enough. It will just depend on the cacher.

  6. I expect to be able to hike by this summer or early fall so I'm still planning to do this some time between November 2007 and February 2006 for all who are still interested.

I was thinking about putting together a group myself. Sounds great. I just checked the cost from DFW and it was about $ 1,700 round trip. I sure have done crazier things than this. Keep me informed.

    Thanks

    <_<

  7. I am thinking of tring to establish a series of Pocket Queries too submit a list of all the GC's in Wisconsin. Mainly because I am starting to travel more around the state and it would be nice to have the entire state list in my 60cx as POI's

Im sure I could setup a mutitude of Queries based on zip code but I'm afraid that I will get too much overlap or miss a large section.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

    Kris

If you are talking about Texas, do you realize that as of right now there are 16664 caches in the state of Texas. How much memory does your GPS have?

    <_<

  8. i can post a pic to my TB page, the question is. how do i make it that it shows up automatically and not have to click on the link each time?

On the pace where you upload the image there is a small box on the left side that says Make this the default image for this travel bug. just click the box and then upload.

  9. This series is basically a series of micros leading up to a traditional. Each micro gives you a clue to find the coordinates of the final traditional. The individual caches are spaced by as much as 40 miles apart.

    -Dave&Stacy

That is a pretty long series. A FTF is well deserved for each of those finds. We have one in the area that has 80 points in the series. Each of the caches are 1/2 to 1 mile apart and you can not just drive to each one in series. There is a bunch of finding the right road for the next one. They are a series mainly in name only. There is no final "prize"

    Sounds like fun...... cache on

    :)

  10. Our newest Psycho Urban Cache, with three caves and a nasty rappelling challenge (and located only a few miles from PUC #13), Psycho Urban Cache #14 - Cliffside Catacombs, fell to five more finders, all of them members of Team Psycho, over the weekend, and Sue and I were there to watch. I also rigged the final stage cliff for rappellling, and, after Team Psycho had completed their find, I rappelled down to the cache location within in the cave-like opening in order to do some cache maintenance (I needed to replace the bright yellow Otter box with a black one, so that it could not be seen from the ground even in perfect lighting conditions.)

After the Team Psycho members had completed their find, three of us (Vyper4, Snurt and myself) decided to re-enter the stage one cave to take a trek to the underground pond at the far end of the cave, and we all emerged a half hour later rather battered and bruised from negotiating the tight underground crevasse!

You guys, IMHO, are NUTS . But I sure do like the stories.

    :)

  11. I am very disappointed that I wasnt able to get my hands on one of these. Several people in my family have diabetes including my husband. This cause is very near to my heart. Does anyone know if theres one out there i can get my hands on.

There is one in a cache that is about 4 miles west of your cache. Do a nearby cache search from your cache page and it will show up. You do know that these are like the jeeps they are already activated and are ment to travel from cache to cache.

    Good luck

    :)

So to make sure I understand this. Because they are already activated even if i did get an uncirculated one i wouldnt be able to have it listed as one of my bugs?

There is really no such thing as an uncirculated one. That would mean it was unactivated. Those that were sent to everyone that asked were already activated. You can not "own" the TB just like you can not own a Jeep.

    :D

  13. Hope that works, but my experience is that the service department can only track down a key if they have the vin number. I can not believe that the frequency or tone sequence is unique to only one car.

I noticed that this TB has been going since 2004. Also the big key looks like it is a PO Box key or a safe deposit box key. Maybe you have a key to a hidden million dollars. Now if you can just figure out which bank it is hidden in.

  14. OK, there are different "languages". I am not talking about entering coordinates into my GPS. I am trying to figure out how to enter coordinates that I have figured out from mystery caches and enter them onto google maps so I can locate them.

When I enter the coordiates into the Google map URL there are consistently about 10 miles off. Is there some translation that I need to know about for the Google maps?

It appears that you are from MA. I found that if you make a mistake of 10.0 min of Latitude it will give you an 11 mile error. If you make a mistake of 10 min of Longitude it will give you a little over 8 miles of error. Recheck your numbers it looks like it is a typeo. What ever number you type into Google maps or Google Earth are dead on accurate.

  15. Yea, congratuations.

Pure luck he got that number, I'm sure.

Correct... cache numbers are automatically assigned when you hit the report new listing button. That has nothing to do with when it is approved. I have a couple that I have been working on that still have the 6 digit code. He just got lucky.

  16. I have played around with Google Maps but I don't understand why the coordinates shown on the cache page differ form the coordinates that are embedded in the URL that pops up when I click on "Geocaching.com Google Map" on the cache page.

It is like saying HELLO in spanish, english, or german. They are all the same just different. Your GPS can be set up to input any of the postions. Example you can set to read Degrees.... XX.YYYYY then change setup to degrees and min.mmm XX YY.YYY It is just the interpertaion.
