  1. Out caching today my son brought his girlfriend. My youngest (8yr old) said look, they're the geocouple. Ok, I thought I was bad with my Geobag, geomobile, Geodog Ike, and my Geocache Stash...swag.
  2. I know that I live at least 5 hours from one of the events and it says it's only 148 miles away on the cache page. All HWY. I've looked for back roads that would make it closer. This is for at least 3 different events.
  3. When I click on a cache page the miles from my home coordinates are sometimes miles off. Yesterday I was looking at some 10th anniversary events and 3 of the ones I looked at were about 100-150 miles off from actual distance from my home. I've checked my home coords and they're right on. Other caches I look at are the correct milege away. Can anyone help with this?
  4. Not sure why some don't. Sometimes it's a little annoying. Like today I'm going for a cahce that looks like it hasn't been found yet. I'm hoping that it's not the fact that the finder just never logged it. It will be a first to find.
  5. Ok, so I'm still pretty new to Geocaching and recently I've put out 2 caches. (One I'm still waiting on review) But the other one is located in the park across the street from my home. I've had a few cahcers find this and I have always seemed to miss them. Not today. As I was relaxing by the window I looked out only to notice a couple parked across the street. I thought to myself...are these cachers?? I started to get excited. They get out of their truck and what do my eyes spot? A GPS in their hands. Yippee!!! I called to the kids to come to the window and stay low so as not to freak the poeple out. We watched them walk closer to the cache and we called out "You're getting closer." Of course they couldn't hear us. It was like watching a scary movie and yelling at the couple not to open the door. he he he Well, my heart started racing as they got closer. I said, (out loud) if you just take 3 steps to your right you will be right on top of it. My kids were bouncing on the couch with anticipation. Finally we see the guy reach his hand and grab it! WOO HOO! My 8 yr old daughter high fives me and we're sitting in the house clapping for the couple for finding the cache. I knew that finding a cache ourselves is pretty exciting, I just didn't know that watching someone find ours would be just as amazing. Just wanted to share my thoughts on that. Am I one of the weird ones or is this normal?
  6. I'd have to agree with cachensfun, it has brought my kids and I closer and we've developed a healtier relationship because of Geocaching. And yes, after hiding my 2nd cache ever today which was a 4.5 terrain I'd also agree that it's given me the much needed excersize.
  7. I feel so much better waiting for it to be approved. I probably should have asked this question first before placing it but I did have my fingers crossed. Thanks for the info!
  8. Is there a distance requirement when placing a new cache from an archived cache? I just placed a cache today and then remembered it's close to an archived. I'm not sure if it's near the 500ft regular requirement but it might be close.
  9. I would suggest clicking through to his profile page. You might also notice his "Moderator" button. Well, Guess I didn't notice that. So really? No doughnuts?
  10. How do you know what the review wrote on his cache page if it isn't published yet? I tried to look but I can't find it. Do you have special powers or something? And please don't try to fool me with that Platinum member doughnut crap. LOL Just curious
  11. The updater should give you a window like the following that will show the current and update versions of your software: On the unit you can view the current version by selecting "About This Device": Finally called DeLorme today and I updated with an older version. Customer service got me on the right track and now I'm back in the game. WOO HOO. I thought I would have to buy a whole new unit. Thanks for all the help and advice.
  12. Little more info? What firmware version did you have and what version did you upgrade to? What are you using to load cahes to the 20? Due to a website bug, Cache Register users are experiencing issues with PQs but there is a fix for that. We need a few more details to help. When I went to the update it said I had no Firmware. So that's what I was updating. I don't know where to find the version that I updated to. I was using GSAK to upload caches.
  13. Something funny was happening with my GPS so I went to the DeLorme website and uploaded the lastest updates. Well, once I restarted my GPS my listings for Geocaches were gone. Only a listing for waypoints. Anyone have any ideas? I'll be calling DeLorme tomorrow but I thought maybe someone here has run into the same thing.
  14. When I try to load a new PQ I'm only getting the same cache loaded over and over again. With no info for it. And it's also loading them into the logged caches. I know that the PQ's were disrupted over the weekend. Does this have something to do with that? I'm using a DeLorme PN-20. It's giving me an error on loading all of the caches.
  15. THANK YOU! My Delorme is a mess now....Not only can I not get PQs to load as geocaches vs. waypoints, I cannot even get caches sent individually via the plug in now. Will this be fixed at any point? I have a Delorme also and it's all screwed up too. I hope this is fixed and things get back to normal. I keep getting an error message in GSAK but I don't know if it's the PQ's or GSAK
  16. Is it really C:/? Yes it is. Now I'm really freaking out thinking that I've screwed up my computer or GPS or something.
  17. Maybe there is something wrong with my GPS. I'm still not getting anything and now a black box is opening when I try to send to GPS. C:/Windows\system32
  18. Is it fixed yet? I don't want to try again. I thought it was GSAK so I uninstalled and then reinstalled. Thought it was my GPS reset to factory settings. Glad to know that it's something that will be fixed and I don't have to try to figure it out. LOL not so computer savvy.
  19. Someone had told me about Geocaching years ago. It sounded very cool to me and I signed up. I didn't have a GPS at that time and didn't have the means to buy one so I forgot all about it. Last summer a friend told me about it again. I had forgotten that I heard about it before and went to sign up and noticed that I already had an account. So I borrowed a GPS to see if I was really going to enjoy this sport before I went out and purchased a unit. I realized that I love this sport, for so many reasons. It gets me out for some much needed excersize. It gives me time to spend with my family doing something active. I've always loved puzzles and to me even walking up to a Park and Grab still seems like I'm solving a puzzle. I've told everyone I know about Geocaching. My Facebook status constatnly has something to say about geocaching. Pictures are everywhere. Scrapbook pages are full. I'm not addicted, I just enjoy this so much I want to be doing it all the time. Did someone mention a support program? And is there a cache hidden there?
  20. Ok, I've tried everything. I just tried to run a new PQ and it didn't load anything to my Not logged Geocaches. But it did load 759 caches to my logged page. All 759 were the same cache. Could it be my GPS? I just tried to add a WP one at a time and that worked. It's when I try to load my PQ that won't go through. Just tried it again and noticed that when I said it was only loading the same geocache 759 times, it always seems to be loading the last cache on my list. Does that help anyone help me?
  21. OK, so I've been using GSAK for a few months and everything was fine. This morning I try to upload my latest PQ and either I get onlly 1 cache loaded or 1000 of the exact same cache. I'm not sure if I clicked something different or if there's a bug somewhere. Is there a place to restore the original defaults when I started with GSAK? Was wanting to go caching today but I can't load anything!!! Please help. Thanks in advance.
  22. The kids finding a cache on the Rims in Billings, MT
  23. One I'm making for my daughter.. "I'm so ninja you didn't even see me get that cache." Saw it somewhere and loved it!
  24. I live in Montana and we travel to Wyoming and there are tons of those signs. I just resorted to telling my children that "Falling Rock" is an old Indian Ghost man and we should watch for him. The older ones are over it but my younger 2 watch very closely.
