You will need to get NiMH recharable batteries and a charger. If you can set your digital watch you can run any of these gps units..Have fun... Support PETA: Please Eat Tasty Animals

I have the Magellan 315 with the latest v3.15 installed it is a good unit. It works better for me under the trees, it has a better advantage over the patch antena that the e-trexs' have. We use our gps units together so i'm able to get a feel on how the etrex units behave. The etrex has the advantage of longer battery life. But to me it's no big deal as you should carry spare rechargables anyway. The Mag. 315 is the bigger of the two, it's your choice there both good units. The sooner you get one the quicker you'll start geocaching...

I have logged these strange disks with numbers and letters as a kid. Now I'll have to relog these since I no longer have the log book (Years ago). There are many bench marks in the national forest. Are bench marks found only in the USA?

Get the latest version (v3.15) for free. When you first turn on the unit it will show the version it has as it boots up..

The Mag 315 is a good starter unit, so is the Yellow Etrex. I bought the 315 to hold me over till the Rino 120s show up (maybe in July) check out the Garmin web site or the Magellons they have all their GPS models there. The prices goes up with the bells and whistles...I preordered the Rino 120 from TVNav.com, I suspect the Rinos will spawn new GPS fun....

Need I say more..

I have learned to hold my Mag.315 antena up at eye level to get the best out of it under the trees. My brother has a Venture he holds it flat in his hand out away from his body for best results in heavy cover, Mine gets more sats. then his when we're together. He has installed velcro on the back of his Venture and sticks it high on his pack The neck strap keeps it from getting lost, works well for him.

Third quarter losses where staggering. Bad investment and cache theft took a heavy toll. TIC, no really I'm not in it for the money if I had to figure fuel and time I would go nuts. Its about getting out there and having fun.. Night Tracker...
