  1. I decided to go with v.4.06..I followed the steps to the letter and now my GPS works BETTER than the old v.3.12..It takes only 35seconds to lock on sats and draw the map. I can get to within 2' of my bench mark in the back yard. My old M-315 with v3.15 is also there with the Merigold. I have used it for a few days now and i'm totally satisfied with its performance. My brother will be happy to know that I didn't mess it up. Thanks to all that responed. If you haven't made the change what are you waiting for. Just follow the instructions, yes you'll loose all your way points but it's worth it. Bye to all..Final post ...NT

  2. The M315 was my first unit,it has never let me down. I have the latest and last version v3.15 which is still availalbe on the Magellan site.

It is not a map unit but if you can get it for 75 to 85 dollars get it. It's old looking but as long as there are birds up there it will always get you where you need to be. I now have a Meridian Gold and use the 315 as a backup/loner, is still proves its worth, i will hang on to it...Any GPS is better the no GPS..

  3. I did the same type of side by side real world performance test, my brothers' Venture and my M315.

I got the opposite results Searching_ut got. My brother ended up offing his Venture to buy a Meridian Gold. Now his buddy, (the one he sold the Venture to) wants to trade it in for a Meridain. I guess your milege may vary..All I know that you have to know how to get the most out of you gear.

Case in point, If you want the best range out of your frs radio, get up high on a hill, I get my 1/2 watt radio to reach my friends house 22 miles away using gps to get the range down..

  4. Update: Well I since bought the M315 and changed my mind about getting a Rhino. My brother got a Legend. I ended up with a Meridian Gold and I'm very pleased with it. My brothers can't lock on in areas we use it most (woods) he likes mine better. The Gold will always keep a good lock at sats his can't. He sold it last month and bought a Sportrak Pro which he loves....

  5. If you can find a Magellan 330 on clearance that would be a good unit, I've seen one go (on a red tag sale) for 125.00 . If you can afford it I would get the Magellon Sport Trak Pro, you get a 50.00 rebate. It has 23 megs of storage. Thats a real nice unit. Hope this helps.NT

  6. I'll sell one NIB with warranty card for 100.00 plus shipping. Or my personal unit used for 85.00

plus shipping. Both have been updated to v3.15.

both come with Datasend CD and PC cord, owners book and fresh AAs.

The used one has found over 100 caches...

I bought a Maridian Gold but plan to keep one of the 315s...

I'm no expert and need help>> Any and all are wecolmed to help me out...

  8. Goodguys are clearing out ALL GPSs, I wasn't in the market for a new onw but for 119.00 for the Meridian Gold I would be a fool to pass it up.

I'll be looking for an SD card & CD soon. I have two M315s I may sell one. It has Data Send cd and pc cord, they are both updated to v3.15. I may it soon on ebay for 120.00 as new...
