  1. HQ does not provide elevation information. Information about how Project-GC calculates elevation is in their FAQ: https://project-gc.com/Home/FAQ
  2. You're right that we should've posted a link to this particular blog post in the Announcements forum on Friday. That's on me. We're doing the best we can, and will misstep occasionally. We don't do twitface or instawatch, either, and actually have not heard of them. So you didn't miss anything there.
  3. In the past few days, you've stated that "the site" doesn't realize people use GPSrs and that "the site" assumes everyone is on social media. You were incorrect on both counts. The newsletter must be translated into multiple languages. Therefore, we generally cannot send it on a whim. The blog post that Max and 99 referenced was published in English on Friday. It is currently being translated to be available for Tuesday's newsletter. Social media is more immediate, which is why we suggest following our social media channels for "timely" updates. It is not because we assume everyone is on social media.
  4. I would suggest contacting HQ via the Help Center. Choose 1. My Account from the "What can we help you with?" dropdown.
  5. ^^^ This Those who stick to I-70 are really missing out on the landscape at Arikaree. And ottieolsen does put out some great caches!
  6. As an Australian member, you will see GST noted on the page after you click "Renew Membership" from the Membership tab. As a result of a law enacted in Australia in 2017, we have an obligation to collect Goods and Services Tax (GST) for sales of Premium memberships to members in Australia. Premium memberships that renewed on or after July 1, 2017 are charged 10% GST in addition to the renewal amount. HQ pays the tax to the Australian Taxation Office.
  7. This thread isn’t about geocaching anymore. Closing.
  8. As interesting as some of this discussion is, much of it is unrelated to features in this release. General discussions about privacy issues should be directed to other appropriate threads or forums. Please also remember that while limited non-promotional references to unauthorized geocaching applications are generally permitted here, significant discussion of unauthorized applications should be directed to their discussion forums. Thank you.
  9. Looks like we're back in business. Sorry for the hiccup!
  10. Our engineers are working on a fix. Sorry for the inconvenience. Certainly not the way we wanted to get started!
  11. Trying to keep track of and respond to all the false information in the forums is a fool's errand. But I'll pipe up to say GDPR is the reason for this. Period. Privacy issues are going to continue to be a thing, both on Geocaching.com and tons of other websites. GDPR is a big deal. A really, really big deal. So is the California Consumer Privacy Act, which takes effect January 1. If you guys want to keep dreaming up conspiracy theories, go for it. But you are 1000% wrong about this.
  12. We have updated the list -- and it will be a trackable geocoin.
  13. I don't like puzzles, so I usually avoid them. It doesn't have to do with avoiding "extra effort," because I love Multi-Caches, Wherigos, etc. I just prefer to be outside, rather than sitting at a computer trying to solve a puzzle. Also, I don't have a puzzler brain, so puzzles are often more frustrating for me than fun.
  14. Information about Premium Membership trials is in the Read First! Geocaching Frequently Asked Questions thread: Premium Membership trials: Currently, 7-day trials are available for users who have not previously had Premium Membership by contacting Geocaching HQ via the Help Center.
  15. It would be best to write in via the Help Center to explain the situation. Choose 06. Souvenirs from the What can we help you with? dropdown.
  16. Information about Premium membership trials is in the Read First! Geocaching Frequently Asked Questions thread: Currently, 7-day trials are available for users who have not previously had Premium Membership by contacting Geocaching HQ via the Help Center.
  17. Go to the Geocaching.com sign-in page and click the Forgot Password link to trigger a password reset email. When your partner receives the email, they can click the link to begin the process of creating a password for the account.
  18. Thanks, we've updated the list to include the Berkeley Gadgets GeoTour. Not sure how we missed it! However, there does not appear to be a reward for completing the VA Star series.
  19. As noted in this recent blog post, information about Community Celebration Events will be announced later this year.
  20. With an eye to creating distinct discussion platforms for playing vs. creating Adventures, we have restructured to have sub-forums for playing and creating. Threads from the Lab Caches forum were moved to the Playing Adventures sub-forum. Going forward, discussions about creating Adventures should take place in the other sub-forum. More information about the Adventure Lab app is available in the FAQ. In addition, the Geocaching Help Center is home to Adventure Lab guidelines and Adventure Lab inspiration tips.
  21. On the Hide a geocache page, see Instructions for Finders on the right side of the page.
  22. Cross posting here from the Announcements forum, since the announcement is Wherigo-related: On Thursday, May 30, 2019, Waymarking.com and Wherigo.com will go down for approximately 90 minutes as we perform site maintenance. The sites will go offline around 1:30 PM Pacific Daylight Time (Convert to your local time). Follow us on Twitter during the downtime for updates.
