  1. Hello,

since a few weeks back I get an error when trying to connect to geocaching.com. See below.

I'm running Windows 10 with the latest patches, Firefox 119.0.

The only remedy I found so far is to open up Tools/Settings/Privacy&Security/Cookies and Sitedata/Manage Data, search for cookies from geocaching.com and delete them.

Then I can reload the connection that previously failed, but I have to login again on all pages accessing the site. A bit awkward.

    Any ideas anyone?

  2. Hello,

sometimes, especially after GS has come up with some strange requirements for getting a souvenir e.g. I want do delete all steps in a newly completed ALC in order to complete it at another date. The deletion of the step is ok, but the problem is that the ALC is still marked as completed in the app so there is no possibilty of restarting it. It also shows up in https://labs.geocaching.com/ as completed but with zero steps done.Seems to me as a strange situation. probably different databases that keep track of what's done, logged and given the right answers. Would it be possible to synch the databases better?

  3. When I read the blog about the third challenge I see:
Earn the easy souvenir for this month by logging a find on five different days. Earn the medium souvenir for this month by logging a find on ten different days. Earn the hard souvenir for this month by logging a find on 20 different days.

But looking at the scoring at the leaderbord I see (image below):

    which is correct???

  4. Hello,

all of a sudden I get a strange behaviour when I try to save a cache to a list. I click on a cache on the map and get the small panel describing the cache and and at the bottom there is among other things the text "Add to list". I click on the text and the panel with my lists pops up. Clicking on the wanted list and all I get is a green "circle" and that's all. However if I open the cache to get the full description, then on the right hand side there also is the text "Add to list". If I click on the text the panel with my lists is displayed and if I now click on the wanted list I get the text "Saved!" and all is OK.

Running Windows 10 an tried Firefox and Edge both with Tapermonkey enabled and disabled. Same behaviour. Am I missing something?

  5. I have the same issue again. 5 steps of an ALC are shown as found on labs.geocaching.com and are included in my total number of finds. However on the leaderboard they are not accounted for. Any ideas anyone?

OK, I did some stupid stuff here. I logged the ALC steps, then I realised I wanted to save them for the next upcoming Signal's Labyrinth, so I deleted them. Then I was stuck in some kind of limbo. My total found caches count was set back to the correct value, however the ALC  was  still marked as completed. In order to correct that I managed to undelete the ALC steps and the whole ALC was marked as completed and the total number of caches found was also correct. Happy with that in spite of getting the score now instead of in the next Signal period I thought all would be OK. But then all found caches count do reflect the loggings of the ALC steps now, however the leaderboard still misses them.

  6. Hello,
why isn't the leaderboard showing correct number of caches?
According to "Dashboard -> Your Geocaching logs" I have six caches logged as found on date 2022-12-11.
If I look at each cachedescription in the web interface they are marked as logged by me on 2022-12-11.
Also my GSAK DB says six - GCA262E,GCA25HE,GCA20H0,GCA0RQ7,GCA0RM7,GCA0RKW (Ok, I know it's not always 100% right, but in this case...)
But the Leaderboard states I have only two - GCA0RM7, GCA25HE.

I also noticed the the number of points awarded for the two caches are not correct. GCA0RM7 e.g. which is a Letterbox is only awarded 15 points.

  7. I think the number of allowed characters in the ALC description should be increased from 1024 to at least 2048. Hopefully the ALC is placed at an interesting location and the introductory text will often require a lengthy description of history, current and future states. 1024 characters forces you to shorten the text considerably thus having to leave out many important and interesting details.

  8. Hello. I just noticed a strange behaviour on a cache page.
I search for a cache using the GC-code, click on "Show cache and 16 mi. radius", a list of caches in the area is shown, click on "my" cache, then "View larger map" and get a map where the cache is shown. In the top green field I see the usual information with "Geocaching Play Community Shop  my avatar and number of finds". Ok, so far so good. BUT if I now click on "Browse geocaches" so are all caches shown on the map, however the top green field is just that. A green bar with none of the previous text in it.

I run Firefox 102.0 and WIndows 10 with the latest patches.

Here is one of many discussions on the same issue.

    https://forums.geocaching.com/GC/index.php?/topic/372945-bug-miscalculation-of-points-for-signals-labyrinth/

More information is needed. How did you log them? Did you change them from a note to a found? Are they still drafts? You can relog them.

    Hello, thanks for your answer.

Reply to questions: I logged them first as a draft on iPhone when in the field, then when I got home I logged the 4 missing as I did with all the others found during that day. It was a total of 25 caches that day, 10 ALC:s, 2 Unknown, 1 Virtual and the rest Trads. All 4 finds that  are missing from the Leaderbord have more then 10 favpoints. That's what make them "unique" compared to the others.

There must be a bug somewhere. I just deleted the log for the missing Virtual and relogged it. Now I can see it in the Leaderboard.

  10. Hello,

I keep an Excel sheet to keep track of my progress in the Signal Labyrinth chase. All of a sudden I noticed that the collected points in the Leaderboard didn't match the number in my sheet. After a lot of swearing, sweating, cursing etc I realised that four found caches, one virtual and three trads are missing in the Leaderboard. Anyone got any idea why and how to fix it? Or is it a bug at GS?

  11. Previously you could choose the app Waze to help you to navigate to a step of an ALC (at least on iPhone). In some update of the ALC app did this possibility disappear and now you only can select Google Maps. Is this intentional or just a lapse? Could it be a misconfiguration by me? Someone has any info on this?

    Regards

  12. Hello, previously I could use the app Waze when I wanted to navigate to the different steps of an ALC. Since the latest update the only choice is Google Maps. I prefer the guidance provided by Waze. Is there any possibilty to regain Waze as a navigational aid and if so how? Is this a intentional change by GS and if that is the case why?

Oh and I forgot - using an iPhone.

  13. Hello, I'm creating a new cache and run into some problems. The cache is almost ready, I just wanted to add a background picture to it. I drag and drop the image or browse for it and when I click "Save & Preview" I get:

    Server error in '/' application.
    Runtime Error
Description: An exception occurred while processing your request. Additionally, another exception occurred while executing the custom error page for the first exception. The request has been terminated.
OK, so I backout all the way into the nonedited cachedescription and try to edit once more. This time I only change one character and click "Save & Preview", no problem.
I do the same procedure again but add the picture, same error.
Tried to log out and back in, same problem. Restart browser, same problem. Deleted cookies from geocaching.com, same problem.
    Any idea anyone?
