  1. I don't plan on ever selling my collection, everything is activated so people can log them at events. To me the value of the coin is null, all that matters to me is I like it
  2. I would purchase one, but only if trackable!
  3. Skip the power trail and go for a hike and get some quality caches instead
  4. Go to an event and meet some local cachers, maybe hit one of them up to go out caching with you, show you some tricks of the trade!
  5. I know we wouldn't be allowed, gotta be within 2 miles!
  6. Averaging 5 a day while working isn't hard, I did it the first year and a half I cached, only 50 of those finds were on a power trail (found out I don't like them!) just need to hit 50 on the weekends
  7. Creative puzzle, and a good hide is my favorite! If I have to keep going back to a puzzle to solve it, then it's worth a favorite no matter the hide. I have a puzzle, it requires uv light, onsite cipher, you tube video, and a 16 foot pole to complete, it's been published for just over 2 months, 3 finders and 3 favorite points. Caches that bring multiple pieces into them are my favorites!
  8. Without challenges, I wouldn't have the drive to cache as often as I do. I love em! I currently am co of about 50-60! I have complete near 100!
  9. A couple of the comments in this thread piss me off! 3 years ago I weighed 520 pounds. I lost 70 lbs, then started caching and lost another 50. As you guys seem to call it, I'm still morbidly obese, and I promise you, I will hike any where near what you guys do. Maybe you shouldn't stereotype, just because someone is big, doesn't mean they can't walk. In the last month, I hiked 6 miles on two separate occasions. One was in the wilderness including island caches, and today I hiked 6 miles down a bike trail. Just because we are "fat" doesn't mean the large person can't do whatever you are doing. Some people are ignorant!!!! Anyways, I have geocaching to thank. I would have spent the day in front of the tv today, and instead, I walked, all day!
  10. FYI - two of my buddies here are interested in playing next year if we need or want more teams.
  11. Anyone Have luck with their local tourism departments?
  12. It's also interesting to see how a cachers mentality can change. I started out being a numbers guy, and I still like numbers, but would rather have them be high quality caches now, ones with good d/t or creative containers, or take me to fun locations. I've turned from a guy who loved getting everything, to more of a challenge cacher, the more fizzy the better!!!! I look up to those infamous star chasers
  13. For those of you who have placed any of these trails, how'd you got about getting financial backing for the coins? Me and my geo-buddy released a power trail of challenges a couple months ago, and by early spring it'll be 110 challenges along 1 13 mile stretch of a bike trail. I'd love to reward the cachers that come!
  14. I'd rather spend 24 hours picking up some challenging caches, or highly favorites ones!
  15. Fair warning, I have a multi that requires quite a bit of driving and it rarely gets found! But then again, none of my multis get found very often!
  16. I feel like you can't just go by favorite points, you also need to look at find/favorite ratio!
  17. All I have to say, my team was miserable this year, can't wait for next season!
  18. If I'm caching in my home state, I'll report it immediately, but I've found some rather questionable caches in a bordering state and kept my lips zipped, i.e. a cache drilled into a live tree, probably not appropriate, I'd hope the local cachers would say something!
  19. I'm pretty addicted to challenges, was going to streak for 366, and just as I neared the end, a challenge came out requiring a streak from jan 1-dec 31. So the streak had to go on! Sitting at around 430 days or so, and I can't wait for jan 1 to get here . Keep going, as long as you can, it's not that bad!!!
  20. Ranger fox, I loved reading your post, thanks!
  21. Can you send me an invite ok? Thanks!
  22. Wow, tons of hikers, you know, until I started caching, I didn't even know I loved the outdoors, now this year for christmas, I asked for hiking boots and a backpack! I wish I lived in an area with more lakes and wilderness, but try and take advantage of a long walk in the wilderness when I can!
  23. Just curious, what type of cacher are you? A numbers cacher, a challenge junky, a star chaser, do you go after favorited caches, or a just enjoy a nice hike? I consider myself a hybrid type of cacher, I enjoy all aspects of the hobby. While I enjoy a challenge, I also sometimes just want to pick up a bunch of 1.5/1.5 caches!
  24. I was along for the ride in the first group, and my caching buddy was in the second. It's a legit 5/5, I promise you that one! First group had 2 cachers with 27 times fizzy, and the other one is a star chaser and averages way over 2/2. Each of them agreed that it's for real. It's a nano on a bridge, at some point there was a flood and the bridge is now full of debris, and has been for years. I wish there were more local cachers here willing to attempt it, i only have 1 more person within 200 miles that will even look for it. Gotta pray we get visiting cachers sometime!
  25. My first 5/5 was sitting on a spider in wichita ks, definitely an awesome cache. I recently placed my first 5/5 traditional cache, and it's absolutely a legit 5/5, and I got pictures to prove it (climbing gear was used, not to place but to retrieve)! I hate when caches aren't rated appropriately!
