  1. I know this is a stupid question but i was always told to ask the stupid questions cos you always get good answers!!! The story is i am going to a Small cache and camping event. I've not been camping in over 15 years (so the bad memories have all faded). i was going to be driving but as i failed my Driving test last week that is now not happening. I had posted a sorry can't make it note and was kindly offered a left by another local cacher (who i have never met). Arrangments all made but now i am not sure if i have everything i need. Obviously if i was in my own car i'd take everything and then the kitchen sink. but since i am catching a lift i want to make sure i have everything without filling the trunk. So i have; My Tent, roll mat and sleeping bag. Torch, small tent mallet. An appropriate selection of clothes for all weather (this is scotland, it may snow) Cool Box with food (not yet stocked but breakfast, daytime and bbq stock is organised), Eating untensils. Toilet stuff and bug stuff Fully Stocked GeoKit (Inc GPS with all 40 Caches within 50 Miles of location) What am i missing? Ljay
  2. I guess if i found it at an event or in a cache i would maybe grab it back to show on the logs that it had come full circle. To me it would be more of a note against the bug as record. Don't think i would think to use the discover option. As said on the icon side, if i want the icon on both sides i'll find someone elses coin and move it along on it's mission.

    Coin Thief’s

If i am going to keep them, i activate them and keep them in a box in my cache bag. That way if you meet me caching or at an event you can discover my coin and get the icon!! If i may want to trade them at a later date i don't activate them. I have about 80 coins in my collection at the moment. some active and some are traders. If you came to my house and ased to see them i'd happily empty the box and tell you about every one! So tell me, if i steal your coin what am i supposed to do with it? I can't put it in my active collection or i'll get caught when someone wants to discover it , i can't trade it cos it's not mine to trade and i can't even just keep it in my box as some one will see it if they ask to see my collection . The joy of geocoins is to share them and watch them travel. If they are not travelling in caches they should be shared with others at events. If you can't do either of those things cos you pinched it then where is the joy. I really don't see the point in stealing. What i do that annoys the owner is discover and leave it in the cache or take it but then take months to help it on it's way (i always send mail if i am keeping something for a trip). On the whole send a copy thing, don't do it in the first instance but if one has gone MIA release a copy. But do note on it that it is a copy because the original went MIA and list on the Track page where and when it went MIA. I do remember a while back a very nasty discussion about releasing copy's. I personally think that if i saw it in a cache i would be disappointed, but if i then look at the trackable page and it was a well travelled coin that had a copy release due to muggles i wouldn't mind. If you are that worried about your coins that you are sending out photocopies you shouldn't be releaseing your collection!!! Just my 2pence, Have a great sunday. I'm off out to get cache 50!!!!

  8. hmmm, interesting... count me in on this one again Bob, just for 1 mission this time. presume the cut off date is 1st June as the 1st may was a little while ago. Ljay xox
  9. The TBxxx code you can give to anyone, just means they can look up the coin. To actually log the coin you have to have the number stamped on the coin. You should not give this out as people would then be able to log your coin with out seeing it and that is not allowed by the GC rules. Hope that helps, any other questions have a look in the Geocoins discussion section Ljay
  10. Glad nessie swam so quickly, i have pictures of her prior to posting so i will pop them on when the second nessie arrives at her destination. Glad you like it. I only remembered over the weekend that this started as a postcard mission and i didn't send postcards. I'll get one in the post for you during the week. Lxo

  12. Team Olsson what are your coins mounted on? and it is thick enough to cut and be able to show both sides?
  13. Actually, I think it means the cache was muggled and the coin fell out! :D Geocaching hadn't started when i lived in the highlands and coins would have been nice to find in the heather. There are nasty things hiding in the heather not all of them are there naturally.
  14. hmmm, if lost coins is all you find in the heather then you have had a good day...
  15. I want one in every finish... oh ok just 2 will do then, one for my Guardian Angel and the other for the little man that stands by my shoulder. Great Idea Steph, looking forward to seeing the final design. Ljay
