  1. This looks like a very interesting project and I can see it really taking off. I'll be keeping an eye on it and can envisage myself creating an intercache. Great work ChileHead!
  2. I think this needs to be moved to, "How do I?" As the title suggests ;-)
  3. If that's what you wish to do, then fair enough. It seems a bit odd to congratulate your friend though? It's nice that they get to see the cache first, but surely they don't feel any achievement from being FTF. Imagine you decide to organise a running race, but you only reveal the course to one person before the official start time. They then run the course. Would you then say they have won? I'm glad that you put the marquee on there before the cache is published. I would be really annoyed and disappointed if I dashed out to try and get a FTF, only to find your friend's name already on the log. I think NyPuddleCacher was employing sarcasm. Oh, sorry, I completely missed that. Sheldon Cooper moment maybe. Having read the post a second and third time, I still didn't detect the sarcasm though. My bad.

  5. What drama? As far as I can see, the only people causing a problem are those who want to get a FTF, but for whatever reason don't get there in time. No need to be a sore loser, just try harder. This is the same in all aspects of life. And if you don't want to play FTF, don't play. But just because you don't want to participate in that side game, don't criticize those who do. Please can you tell me what impact FTF is having on your own enjoyment of geocaching? I don't see how it is a problem to you.
  6. In your opinion. Some people enjoy playing FTF. I keep seeing this debate over FTF, with the people who don't like it slating those who do. I was annoyed for a while when I was losing out to FTF hounds and it took me ages to get my first one. I just had to up my game and be patient. Once I'd done this, I got three within a short space of time. Now that I have five, I can take it or leave it to some extent. If you think FTF is overated, just let people get on with it. There must be other threads which you ARE interested in reading. I'm not bothered about multi-caches, but it wouldn't be very helpful to comment, "multi-caches are overated" on a thread about those. I'm not trying to be inflammatory, just that your comment seemed somewhat dismissive.
  7. Do you mean Challenges? I think they've taken them out of existence haven't they?
  8. I've been curious about the log rollers, wondering whether it would be worth my while using one. I seem to have become pretty adept with using my fingers, manually rolling in the meantime. I just wanted to mention that I took tweezers out for the first time today. I can't believe what a difference they made. It was so quick to remove the logs, no more tapping the container until it pokes out. I recommend anyone who is not using these so far, to take some out!
  9. I'm happy to log finds on all sorts of caches, even lousy ones. A nano on a bench, in the city centre, is still a fun experience for me. We don't really have LPCs here in the U.K. (if you mean the skirt lifter ones?) but I would be happy to find those too. In this instance, it was because I had found the archived cache before, in the same location, in an identical container. It made me feel that I was cheating myself a bit to add that to my total finds, so I deleted it. I understand that others will have a different view. As mentioned previously; some feel that a new cache number counts as a new find, no matter what. To some extent I agree. It's just not for me. I'd be interested to see if anyone else shares my view.
  10. I was very happy with the experience of the original find. The container is on a support, underneath a low bridge. You had to crawl underneath it, which was good fun. It was only the second time which didn't hold any value for me.
  11. After much consideration, I went to the cache and found it in exactly the same place, in a near identical container. I signed the log and was initially pleased to have got the smiley back on the map. The next couple of days, I was bothered by the fact that I'd only achieved a, "cheap find". It hadn't been a new experience. Just because it was a new cache number, didn't make it a new cache. I ended up deleting my log and adding the cache to my ignore list. That way, the cache doesn't taunt me from the map and I still have the original cache counted in my total finds.
  12. I added a photo to a log, of the area around a cache covered in snow. I was careful to make sure that the photo did not reveal the hide and it certainly didn't contain any spoilers. The owner deleted my post and contacted me to say he didn't think it was a good idea to put photos of locations on logs. This annoyed me, as I didn't feel that my photo breached any guidelines. The published coordinates take you there anyway, so why shouldn't I upload a pretty photo? By deleting my legitimate log and photo, did the CO himself breach Groundspeak guidelines? In the interests of not getting involved in a dispute, I simply posted a new log, without my photo.
  13. Towards the end of last year, I rushed out one morning to attempt a FTF. I was looking in some bushes, opposite a row of houses. I eventually found the container and took it to my car to sign the log. I then returned to cache to the bushes, got back in my car and drove to work. I didn't think any more of it, until the Police showed up at my work. They took me away from serving customers, in front of my manager and colleagues. A member of the public had observed my vehicle being used "under suspicious circumstances" and the Police wanted to search it for drugs! I was patted down in the car park and then my car was searched, in full view of my work. Unfortunately, they hadn't heard of geocaching, so I had to give a full explanation. They seemed happy with what I said and left. Fortunately, my manager saw the funny side. The Police removed the cache and it was archived, which is a shame. I'm now a lot more wary of urban caches. I wish the muggle had asked me what I was doing, but I understand why they didn't. As it turns out, I had missed out on the FTF as well!
  14. I'd like to clarify that I would definitely be visiting the new cache and signing the log. I would never claim a find on a new cache, just because I had found the archived one. If the name's not in the log, then it doesn't count.
  15. I've noticed that people have been logging the new cache, stating that they also found the old one. I wasn't sure if this would make me feel like I've cheated, as I know exactly where to look now! It's just bugging me that it's "undiscovered" on my map :S What are other people's feelings on this? Would you claim a new find?
  16. Apologies if this has already been covered, but I can't find an answer to my question. A cache near to my home was archived and a new cache has now been hidden at the same place. I had logged the original cache as a find, but can I log the new cache, which has been hidden by a different person? I found a guideline, which states that you can't log a new find if you return to a cache, but it's not clear if this also applies to a new cache at the old location?
