  4. quote:Free Country? Bushwhacker - don't forget what those "little wizards in the sky" were originally placed there for: Accurate targetting of ICBMs which would be fired from your "free country" to kill people in other countries. The little wizards placement have very little to do with land based ICBMs, since once the bird is programed with it's targeting information and a firing solution is calculated, location data for the lanch point and target is no longer needed, Since neither move. Once launched, the internal guidence system does the flying. On FBM Submarines, the boat's SINS (ships internal navagation system) provided the local position and is checked for errors by a sat updated. Same deal with the targeting, before the boat sets sail, all launch points to target information is calculated. Launch points are established in the areas that the boat will be patroling while on alert (the rest is classified). Sats are used only to insure that SINS is correct. Its been that way since the early 1960s. What is guiding the UK's fleet of Polaris FBMs? BTW, there has never been a launch of an ICBM which resulted in killing people in other countries. MAD was the only thing that kept the USSR out of Western Europe and in turn keeping your country free as well. You do think that the UK is a free country? Now if your talking ground troops or smart bombs. They do use those "little wizards in the sky" and do keep US and the UK free. God Bless them! BB If it's not one thing, then it's another... 9. Jamie Z, Not to get to off topic but... While it is not one of the top secret machine from the Banzai Institute, we do when to keep it under wraps for now. It is a road racing bicycle. Keeping with tradition, it was build in the Institute's garage this winter from some left over bits of Aluminum Alloy, carbon fiber, and titanium. Kidding aside, it's a Klein Quantum Race frame and a mix of ulta-light weight components to bring the bike in at sub 16 lbs. One sweet bike... I'll be testing out diffrent gearing, wheelsets, and tires with a bootcamp type coach. BB If it's not one thing, then it's another...

  11. On this Milestone. A truly unbelievable feat. When you get to number 600 (that should be in a day or two ) we should have a cache party, I'll bring the beer! Again congrats and Happy Anniversary, John.... If it's not one thing, then it's another...

  13. quote:BTW: Is the HPV function a race? Are you going to be involved? Good luck (if appropriate ) pdxmarathonman, No racing this time, just training and equipment testing. I've committed to doing a long Mountain time trail (100 miles with 11,000 ft of climbing)and I need to test out some new equipment. Mallorca provides some very nice long climbs that are not too step, only 5 to 8 Percent for a few miles at a time . Great weather, very low car traffic with very cycling friendly drivers, and some great historal sites to explore. They also have their own local Wine too! If is not one thing, then it's another...

  17. quote:One couldn't be found by the only tourist (from Germany) whose logged in I had emailed the cache owner and he has let me know that the cache was still there was ok when he last check on it April 3rd. I like the Travel Bug Idea, and am now thinging of two bugs one in each cache. I would like them to be a team (like Tom and Jerry, Ricky and Lucy, something very American), that would travel separately back on their way back to Noth America and then be reunited when back in the US. Any suggestions for the Away Team? quote: If it were me, I would be sure to take an American Flag of some fashion (banner, lapel pin, magnet, t-shirt, etc...) I will be talking two US Flag decals, as well. I got these while doing a bike race the weekend after 9/11. They where given to the racers to show support and solidarity for/with the victims. So I will be placing them there for that reason as well. If is not one thing, then it's another...

  19. Team Banzai is off to do some Human Powered Vehicle research in the Sierra Tramuntanas, Mallorca at the end of the month. While there we will also be hunting two unfound caches located on the Island, in an attempt to become a Bi-hemispherical cacher (all will be logged, in the Log book and online ). If successful we maybe the only American Geocaches to find these caches, if it was you, what would you leave in the cache? BB If is not one thing, then it's another...

  21. There may be all kinds of stuff in a cache you find today. And then there's other stuff in the cache at another point in time. But the log is THE LOG. It holds the history of the finds, it's where you record your experiences while things are still happening, and it’s where you become part of the cache. In reading the log, you meet the people that are your follow Geocachers, you read about their families, pets, and the fun they had in coming out. You read about finds that took place on a sunny, 90 degree summer day, on another page you read about how beautiful the color of the leaves are; and there you are, in the same spot with a light snow covering all around you…... Is the Log, really the Cache? ..and in our reminiscence, one ghost of mine -- trying to forget the failures, being forgotten after being victorious, and the many sacrifices and trials of plying my trade thousands of miles from home -- was laid to rest. - Bob Roll

  25. GeoGuru, Sorry to hear about this,it is totally unexpectable and Charter membership should revoked and this person (I'd like to use other another word) band for life. In the email were you singled you out for any further retaliations if you continue placing caches or were you threaten in anyway? If so contact his ISP in regards that he is abusing you and you want them to take action. This at the least will take away his internet access while he is shopping for a new ISP.
