  1. Oh, you're a musician? Do you write the lyrics or the words?
  2. I've been paying to find caches since 2002. Early ones were Ct State Parks & MA State Parks, $8 - $9 each time. More recently, Broward County, FL Parks. It's odd that they only charge admission on the weekends and Holidays though! Just a little food for thought; if you attended a pizza/wings/beer/ice cream event at your local watering hole for an evening, how much do you figure you would spend?
  3. Point 7 in particular, seems to encroach onto the Penn Central right of way by quite a distance. The other ones along the roadways seem OK, but who really knows. Can't offer an opinion on the ones in the woods.
  4. I cache COMPLETELY COLD. Nothing but coordinates. I do screen out PUZZLES, most MULTI's, EVENTS and VIRTUALS when loading up for an adventure trip. (Unless I've solved the PUZZLE, or the MULTI is relatively short). I search like I'm looking for NANOs/MICROs, figuring I'll stumble across anything bigger. Currently, about 20 minutes is my limit for a search, then the NHF rule kicks in, and it's on to the next one!
  5. I've found a few, but could probably count them on one hand. I have only looked for those that were listed by established cachers I trusted. This kind of cache can be a little scary, since you don't REALLY know if the cache poster is telling the truth. I've encountered irate people while caching, and it isn't fun. There is one such cache locally I have avoided for several months, due to previous experience with other caches by the same player. Personally, I would never place one like this. It only takes one cacher with a screw loose to ruin your day. You never know what might happen in the future that might set them off. There are LOTS of other places to hide caches.
  6. 86.7% of the general population get the answer wrong, and need to have it explained to them. Only 3.2% of the Geocaching population get it wrong.
  7. I'll give this player what he is looking for; Start Date: 12/31/2001 Total Days Since Start: 2063 Traditional Caches* : 1825 82.13% Multi-caches* : 102, 4.59% Virtual Caches* : 49, 2.21% Letterbox Hybrids* :3, 0.14% Event Caches* :17, 0.77% Unknown (Mystery) Caches* :100, 4.50% Project APE Caches : 0, 0.00% Webcam Caches* : 2, 0.09% Locationless (Reverse) Caches* :120, 5.40% Cache In Trash Out Events* :3, 0.14% Earthcaches* :1, 0.05% Mega-Event Caches :0, 0.00% *Total Caches Found : 2222 Avg Caches per Day since day one: 1.1 FTF's: 270, 12.20% Caches owned : 153 Hides to Finds % : 6.89% FLORIDA Finds : 1942, 87.40% OTHER STATES Finds : 280, 12.6% REGULAR SIZE CACHES FOUND : 1045, 51.6% (This excludes Locationless, Virtuals, Events, Webcams and Earthcaches) MICRO SIZE CACHES FOUND : 982, 48.4% (Same as above) THE ABOVE TWO CATEGORIES HAVE MULTIS IDENTIFIED BY WHAT THE MAJORITY OF THE STAGES WERE. 8. Intuitive cachers just "KNOW", ther don't need to "SEE".
  9. Try this website, http://www.cafepress.com/ Click on MAKE YOUR OWN STUFF. I've never dealt with them, but have heard good reports. Looks like they bear all the cost of manufacture too! You just design it, and buy it.
  10. One you could hook up with is DOC-DEAN, Southwest coast of FL. A really great guy, and an avid Geocacher. Don't know his specialty..., except for GEOCACHING??? Edited for correct GEONAME.
  11. Since "X" search has already been tried unsuccessfully, how about "XA, XE, XI, XO, XU and XY"? Or 'X A, ... X Y"? BTW, "X marks" turns up a few caches.
  12. Two containers come immediately to mind. First was a ziplock bag under a rock in the woods of CT, back in the "Early Days of Geocaching", 2002. Second was a large Beef Jerky bag, left in an area frequented by Raccoons. I think I was STF on that one, and it disappeared shortly after that. I still wonder if the raccoon that ate it survived!
  13. No bear ever seen on the trail, closest thing was a pile of Bear Scat on the trail. But a fellow cacher and I were GROWLED into retreat by a Florida Panther in Fakahatchee Strand State Preserve a few months ago. We were way out in the middle of nowhere at the time, working on a long multi. We just gave it a WIIIIDE circle and completed the cache.
  14. The list of things that can be done to disguise a cache is virtually limitless. In fact, the more caches I find, the dumber I get at finding them, because of the growing list of hide possibilities! My advice is, get yourself a LOCAL MENTOR, and do a few hundred cache finds with him/her. You'll be ahead of the game for a while, at least!
  15. Seems to me that you have brought attention to a "Locationless Cache" that slipped through the cracks when the DEATH SENTENCE was imposed on all LC's about 1 1/2 years ago. Be prepared for TPTB to shut this one down real soon!
  16. We had one like this in Palm Beach County a couple of years ago. See GCNP0D. It had some problems because there were multiple networks broadcasting in the area. Read the logs for potential problems.
  17. There are a number of things I have done over the years. Walking around talking loudly with my GPSr CELLPHONE by my ear, whipping out my GPSr "CAMERA" to snap a shot where they are standing, (really clears out an area), explained that I was looking for poisonous lizards, explained I was a botonist looking for exotic and rare plants, examined a fishing pier for structural soundness, and several others. Of course I've also just explained what I was doing, then continued. There have also been times that I just didn't like the vibes I was getting at particular locations, and just walked away. You know, that hair on the back of your neck feeling.
  18. Nah, all you have to do is spend $15.00 in gas to get it to a cache!
  19. Hide & Seek page, Seek a cache, 5th box down, by Local State Page. Select a state, press go. You will then get a page with a drop down menu to select a city.
  20. Over the years, I've handled several "Unofficial" TBs like that, and a couple of coins too. I've also handled TBs that were both trackable on GC.com and on a special website. Those were typically RACING TBs trying to get somewhere first.
  21. I found a crack pipe while searching for a cache once. I then proceeded to rapidly depart the area.
  22. GARMIN RINO 110's and 120's combine FRS radio and GPS in one unit.
  23. Microsoft Streets and Trips gives coodinates in DD.DDD format when the "Locater" option is turned on. Google Earth gives coordinates in DDD:MM:SSS format. You will have to convert them to DD:MM.MMM yourself.
  24. I've found a few "Watch my other hand" caches. You know, you arrive at GZ, and see a large tree or a log, with brush around it, and you just KNOW it has to be there, but it isn't! It's in an inconspicuous spot about 10 feet away, that takes 20 minutes to locate.
  25. When logged in, "THE DOT" is covered by the MAP, so you can't link it. A fwe seconds late with the reply...
