  1. My oldest daughter's high school teacher is the reason why geocaching is now my passion. He was offering 75 bonus points for each cache found, with a picture of the cache and coordinates as proof of the find. The first outing was my fiance, and my two daughters without me. They had a wonderful time and wanted to do it again, but did not think that I would be all too thrilled of hiking in the woods and them in "potiental danger", being the worrysome mom that I am. Well, the next day, I proved them wrong, we all went out together and I encouraged the climbing and the hiking through the woods and now I am more of the driving force than anyone in the family to pursue the geocaching hunt!!! Moral of the story, teachers know what they are talking about!!! hereigoagain5209

  4. ACL replacment with a couple of screws to hold it in place almost 6 years ago. Now its like my built in barometer, predicts the weather better than the weatherman. hereigoagain5209
  5. We are well on our way to weight loss through the many mile hikes that geocaching provides us. We actually count it as one of our days of exercise a week when we do get to go out and spend mutiple hours because we tend to hike at least 3-5 miles.
  6. Congratulations and welcome!! It started the same way for us..now we will never be the same!!
  7. 35 and and ACL replacement patient....so I can relate to gimpy (somewhat)...gotta keep moving!! hereigoagain5209
  8. I enjoy at least going out in two's as well...either my fiancee and I or my oldest daughter and I. Some one to talk to and search with, much more fun in my opinion with a friend, but...I would go alone...for the sake of the cache..of corse!! hereigoagain5209
  9. That gave me some great ideas for caching on my buisness trip to Kansas next month. I was wondering how I was going to cache along the way! Thanks!! hereigoagain5209
  10. We bring a log notebook, jot notes of the cache, interesting sites, or unique containers that we see along the way. Its a nice way to look back and remember some of the highlights.
  11. Another Hoosier added to the map!! hereigoagain5209 & AugustWst
  12. I received the Vista C as a Christmas gift and absolutely love it. It is my first "own" unit. We were sharing his Garmin Pilot version GPS before. I find it easy to navigate and download the coords to the unit. I am very happy with my gift!
  13. I got my very own gps'r!!! A Garmin Vista C....no more sharing for me!!!!!!
  14. I neeeeeeed my own GPSr...currently using my fiancee's and his is a pilot's version of Garmin, need my own!!
  15. Lurker here also, I find the forums both entertaining and a place to learn more about geocaching. I will post though when the opinion or urge hits me!!!!
  16. Definately improved my life. It has given me time to spend one on one with my daughter, lots of talking time when you are in the woods...:-) We are seeing places we never knew existed, right in our own neighborhood!!! And best of all, getting the much needed exercise, fresh air and mind cleansing from daily stuff that you need to do to translate the cache clues!!
  17. I too do the paper in hand caching and entering coordinates by hand. Being new to the caching world and bringing my daughter in it with me, I figure we will learn basics first and go hi-tech after logging a few finds.
  18. I work in the South Bend/Mishawaka area. The Granger area is from what I hear from those at work a nice place to live. I am new into geocaching and am amazed at the amount of caches in and around the entire northwest Indiana area. It seems as tho there are plenty of caches to find!! Good luck with your search on your upcoming trip!
