  1. Update: I did contact HQ and they triggered the Souvenir this morning. For anyone else who comes across this thread, the Pearland, TX GeoTour list is not correct on the GeoTours web site. I believe you also need to log the cache PLGT #24 - Caged Animal (GC9BYQX) which is not on the list and does not have a GeoTour attribute, but the name suggests that it is supposed to be part of the tour.
  2. Over the holidays I completed the 21 active caches of the Pearland, TX GeoTour. The remaining 6 caches that were originally on the tour have all been archived. The full list of caches on the GeoTour is here: https://www.geocaching.com/play/geotours/pearland-texas Today I noticed that I never received a souvenir for the tour. What can I do about that?
  3. Groundspeak does seem to be dumbing everything down. Earn a souvenir without even trying. No Challenge caches unless lots of cachers already qualify. Log 5 Adventure Lab locations without getting out of your car. That's all great for beginners, I suppose, but people create life-goals around difficult challenges that are legitimate accomplishments, not orange slices and participation trophies. Hard accomplishments, life-goals, those are the things that keep making the game compelling.
  4. This is a terrible punch in the gut. I discovered so much joy in Benchmarking during the pandemic. It felt safe, and interesting, and challenging. I have logged over 700 benchmarks since the pandemic started, and I've grown to really love researching the marks, learning more about the history of surveying, and visiting old courthouses, post offices, etc on Geocaching trips. Groundspeak has a huge and valuable database of benchmark logs, especially photos and GPS coordinates. I frequently see surveyors have log benchmarks here, occasionally thanking previous finders for their documentation. This semi-neglected part of Geocaching has brought so many people legitimate JOY over the years DESPITE the fact that the logs don't count toward any statistics. I personally have brought JOY to several non-US cachers by helping them log their first benchmark to earn that icon. You know, like the Groundspeak HQ icon that is only available in the US. Like the APE caches only available in 2 countries. People make life-goals out of hard-to-earn accomplishments. Some things are fun, interesting, and compelling because they are difficult. I can't believe that Groundspeak is choosing to remove this joy from my life. Finding joy in this world right now is really hard. Please, at the very least, I beg you: don't remove our logs and our photos. I've worked so many hours researching, finding, documenting these marks in the last 2 years, and reading and enjoying other loggers' posts. Or, make benchmarking pay-to-play. I'd gladly add a premimum benchmarker's rate to my membership if it had to be.
  5. Thanks, it's working now! I was afraid I was going to have to learn Catalan
  6. Same problem for me, except my preference has been set to Catalan and every time I change it to English it switches back to Catalan.
  7. On the website's "My Lists" page, there is a little circle with ... inside that has extremely useful actions like Map List, Rename, Delete, and others. But that little circle is all the way on the right-hand side of the page. It can be quite difficult to see which circle aligns with which list. Please move the circle containing the popup actions to the left-hand side of the list, close to the list names. Could even be to the immediate left of the list names. This would increase their usability and highly minimize the risk of selecting an action for the wrong list.
  8. Hello! I'm visiting Paris this week and there is a Teamwork cache here that requires obtaining some information from a partner in Tucson. The owner of the Paris cache allows the Tucson cacher to log a find for the Paris cache, and I would sign the log for you if you wish (personally, I wouldn't mess up my stats like that, but to each his/her own). The Tucson partner would need to go to N 32° 14.029 W 111° 01.366 for me by December 10, 2017. Anyone interested, please message me and I will send you all the details. Thanks! - Steve
  9. I agree 1000%. I have written instructions on many trackables, and it is not easy to explain. Geocaching.com needs a very obvious "Did you find a code? Enter it here: _____" place ON THE HOME PAGE, since all coins and TBs direct the finder to go there. A user entering a trackable code in this space could even be considered a newbie and given options to walk through the process.
  10. Not one of mine, but here is a coin that's been around the world and is still going. I helped it across the Atlantic last year. Nice to see a coin get this far. http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?guid=97b42096-dec6-4fb4-b9e8-c34da306de9e
  11. Wow, best story ever. And to have pictures! Thanks for posting them.
  12. I just found one of these coins in a cache yesterday: #14 Islanders (TB1Z849). Almost 15000 miles traveled. Very interesting to discover this thread and read all about it's history!
  13. Ah, that makes sense. Thanks!
  14. When I look at the list of trackables that I own, the "Location" icons are all either faces (people) or cubes (caches). But some have a green background, others a gray background. Anyone know what that the green or the gray means? I can't make any rhyme or reason of it.
  15. I've had similar experiences. But ya never know who will appreciate the effort if you don't make it. Looked at some of your pics. You are a TB owner's dream finder! I sure hope you someday find one of mine. Until then, please accept my thanks for any that don't offer theirs: thank you for the great pics! Steve
  16. It's a deal. I absolutely love finding a coin. I'm always grateful that the owner took a chance. Thanks for the opportunity to pay it forward. But if I get these coins and they are too beautiful to part with, isn't some of that your fault?
