Memory Map for the PPC.
-
Well done Dave - onwards an upwards eh?
-
edit: Sorry Dino, didn't mean to over post you !!
No worries....I shouldn't have barged into your thread anyway
-
Just tried it and got this
and my version is up to date
Ah, it's been written to make use of the version 7.2 functions which is still in beta (although totally reliable), which is due for imminent release. Although, easily available from the GSAK forum.
See here.
I've been using 7.2 since it's first release in beta and had no problems. The additional functionality is great.
If users don't like the idea of beta, then, I'm afraid this won't work until 7.2 is on general release.
Sorry for any confusion, I should have waited until 7.2 was fully released to link to it here.

Wirral as signposted is a political definition
Wirral penisula was always Cheshire with local councils and Liverpool was Lancashire before the London-based government messed about with boundaries and created these big unwieldy Metropolitan areas
So.......... Wirral in that sense is as far down as the Chester boundary
BTW how can I print this off as a list (checklist) ? is it possible ?
As I said some time ago up there...
Wirral (proper) is as far down as Junction 5 of the M53 at Eastham in the East , Gayton in the West and a wiggly line across... Hooton, Willaston and parkgate are all in Cheshire of that helps!!!!
However, for caching sake - I think most of us refer to Wirral as the whole of wirral right down to Chester - just makes life FAR easier!!
Should I add the Chester and surrounding caches to the list
Me thinks not

If you use Memory Map, GSAK and child (particularly parking) waypoints, then this macro might be of interest and help.
One thing we noticed during the build and testing of this is the many different prefix codes used for parking children by various different cachers.
My original aim was to be able to add parking waypints into GSAK to export to a road nav GPSr.
But Gmaps (now built into GSAK), doesn't show rights of way, where as MM does.
edit: a few typos

"My Wirral" boundaries for the list are purely theoretical and may move
To print the list, turn it into a PQ, (button at the bottom of each page of the Bookmark list).
Put the PQ into GSAK and use the sorting and printing facilities in GSAK to print yourself a table of the caches.

And I have another 5 to go live within the next 2 weeks!
Hmmm......more to my "Not Found" Wirral list - must get out more !!!
-
No problem, hope you enjoy caching on the Wirral.
There's now 148 on the list, although 5 of them are now archived.
-
There's lots of good caching in Ireland.
You might find the Irish Forum a good place to get suggestions from.
-
This was discussed, at length, here for "slightly" different reasons.

Digital - forgotten what paper maps look like.
Software: Memory Map, Mapsource, GSAK, Cachemate.
Hardware: Ipaq 5550, StreetPilot 2820, Etrex Vista C.
Oh, and the CacheTruck to get there.
-
I'm still here and willing to help as offered and discussed before.
-
GPX issues were GSAK related.
Export gpx from CM includes dnf info, but GSAK wasn't reading or using that info - now being resolved.
Hopefully I won't need to make too much use of it !!!

I'd like to export an entire map from the laptop to the PDA, but there seems to be a limit of 400 mb or so (not sure the exact number). As a result, I have a lot of pieces of map on the SD card.
Does anyone know of a way round this limitation?
You are probably best off having several maps on your PDA. I have found that running large maps on mine significantly slows down the PDA and has caused it to lock up/crash.
I have the the whole of England and Wales (MM v4, regions 1 - 8 incl) running on a hi speed 4GB sd card - no problems. Each region loaded as a single file at around 300-350MB. Takes about 3GB leaving 1GB for all the other stuff (about 0.5GB) and around 05.GB always kept free.
-
I would think to follow the origins of letterboxing, a start point should be indetified and then clues used to locate the letterbox.
-
But.... only in Version 5 we believe? It doesn't work on V4.
Oh.
-
And from me - it always made interesting reading. Well done and thankyou for all the hard work.
Anyone taking it over ??
-
Create a circular route round the area you want. Just keep on clicking for new waypoints until you end up where you started and doubleclick.
Once you have this circular route, which can of course be any shape you like, right click on the route, and one of the options is to export the enclosed area as a map section.
Now I know why you are the "Learned" Gerbil.
Nice one - never to young to learn new tricks.
-
Well, sorted the HTML exports and most of the gpx export problems, with some help from the Smittyware forum. and by doing another complete re-build of the pda and sd card.
Now got some other gpx export issues, but I think that may be GSAK related, or I'm trying to do something more than CM can do
-
Hell, it might even work ;-)
Woo hoo ......... looking forward to that

What does "shared" mean on a bookmark list. I've just created a list (my first, as you may guess) and I can understand what "public" means (that it shows up on the cache pages you've bookmarked) but what does shared mean.
I THINK it means that you can send a link of it to others, and they will be able to see it, but it won't show up on the cache pages. The only use I can think of is if you are going out with other cachers for the day, and you want them to see the list and download a PQ of them.
T
PS I may be wrong of course!
Just tried sending links for one I've shared, but not made public and one that's not shared - just need to wait for the other guy to reply
Yup, linking to a shared list works.
So it's as Haggis Hunter says - glad I understand it now ........... how long have I been using bookmarks
The logging notification works too. When notifications are working in general
