  1. Glad to have this subject. I too am new to the collecting and trading world. So far I agree and practice what has been stated so far. 1-Please and thank you go a long way. 2-Try to introduce mylsef such as: This is Accordiongal from Minnesota...... end with thanks for your consideration. Sometimes I will send a trade request from work email (yes, I get my work done first), feel that it is imporatant to introduce myself then, don't want to scare someone! 3-Carbon copy yourself with the trade/responses. Saves on searching for sent items. 4-Clearly state what the trade involves. Coin A for Coin B. 5-Include a note with the trade shipment, either handwritten or computer printed about the trade. For me, the arrival is less of a mystery. 6-When your trader coin arrives, send back an email that the coin has arrived. 7-Include please and thank you. I have refused trades with reasons, such as trade request seems excessive to me and declined. What I would like is a "resource" for the value, rarity, and information about some coins. Being new to the trading world, I get frustrated when searching for a coin that is "Hard to find". If I don't have a equal coin, and seem to run into a dead end. That is extremely frustrating and makes me wonder how I can every get the desired item.
  2. Congratulation to stellarscapes. You have guessed correctly. The days plan was to travel up to 14,000 plus Pikes Peak. Snow fall is related to the road closure. OHh, so sad. The main goal was Pikes Peak Marathon because the owner is runjimrun, from the same hometown! Please send your address. The geojellies are due to arrive soon. Thanks for all who participated! The other good news is my brother succomd to the pressure to upgrade to DSL instead of dialup! Sorry about taking so long to respond. The phone has been busy with calls! Accordiongal
  3. OK cachers, I have to leave the deli that I am using free WIFI from. Will return to brothers home to use his painfully slow dialup. Keep searching, it is a great tourist spot. The only thing to add the caches are not west.
  4. Familiar with the cache names listed, but not the ones on the missed cache list today. Oh, this is a beatiful area. Good luck searching the area for the missed caches today. Accordiongal
  5. Good evening, Well, instead of shopping went caching today. Had hopes of finding one of four caches today. Due to weather issues the trip was not possible. So the cointest is still going to occur. You have a chance to win two geojellies: Spotted Cow and Skunked. Your responsibility is to determine what were the caches that I had hoped to do today. You will have to review my profile to determine the current location of this flatlander. The caches would be an extreme challenge for me. Really has not much to do with the terrain. Something else makes these caches extreme challenge. Rules: One post every 10 minutes. No sock puppets. No editing your posts. I determine the winner. Hope there aren't other rules that should have been posted. Good luck and cache on. Accordiongal

  13. Like the overall idea. To me, the sextant is too busy, espically with the "arms" that stick out. The inner detail with the geocaching @ is great. Like both backs. I probably would pass. Good luck with your project.
  14. Received a package today from Denmark. How appropriate since last name is Dutch. Received three coins 1- a evil micro 2-event coin- Stadtme/Sterschafft Fasanerie Event, on the back are the words teamplay, cleverness, speed and fitness-have to guess a competition event. Very nice. 3-A beautiful black nickel Walpurgis event. Great coin, I will have to investigate about that event to learn more about the coin. Try to upload the picture: Oh, frustrating, can't figure out how to do this. HELP
  15. I am interested in a three coin set. Accordiongal
  16. Cyclops has been active in speaking out about the issue. The role of a parent is to guide your children to be responsible human beings. I don't know of anybody off hand who stopped pushing the limits after one try. Heck, even as an adult, I push the limits on certain topics because I can. There is a saying that "It takes a comminity to raise a child" Obviously the coin community is fullfilling the role. Provides the point to ponder, should the minimim age be 18 to trade? HMMMMMM........ To go with that, what would prevent a parent from creating an account for the minor to trade under? How would the trades be "supervised". Some trades would go fine, until some day something would go wrong, then the postings and emails will be pointing fingers again. I don't know the past history of the events, only what is recorded here, but I do support the parents in the decision to "protect" their son in the forums. This is not a legal court system, but minors do need to be supervised. Accordiongal
  17. First I started buying coins from traders at events. Observed trades occuring. Eventually collected coin by purchasing duplicates. Then took a few plunges seeking trades. What I have learned: -always CC yourself when requesting or replying to a trade. It's a lot easier then trying to look at the sent messages -keep paper notes about trades, the mind forgets -send clear messages about what the trade is for, especially when finalized. Such as trading a mustang for personal coin. -always remember to say thank you. -don't make a trade if the "feeling" isn't right, because it isn't -you can say NO. I have done this occassionally, along with my reason, thought the trade was unreasonable. -be prepared for a counter offer. When sending the package, make sure it is securely packaged, there is a thread on this subject. Include a print out or hand written note of the trade. -The heardest part for me is comparing coin to coin inrelation to the dollar value. That is a learning game, no reference book available, besides ebay. But that can't always be correct either. One day a coin will be extremely reasonable, the next extremely expensive. -The only stupid question is one that isn't asked. Go for it. Good luck. Accordiongal
