  1. Has anyone got a nice ogg file saying "Geocache nearby" I have verbals from pocketgps for cameras and a nivce similar one for geocaches would be good.
  2. We had a holiday in Dorset earlier this year and to answer VuurVos's actual question: Chapel Trouble (GC553C) is quite a moving place. Culpeppers dish (GCNCGZ) and Beauty and the Beast (GCTZ3J) take you to a very interesting geological phenomenem. Real cash cache (GCN1T3) has an interesting twist over the normal cache which entertained my kids for a short while and is close to an area famed for fossils which my kids also found very interesting. Also do some research beforehand - there are a significant number of code breaking caches which I couldnt do as I didnt have internet access there. Dont know whether I would have been able to do them with internet access either but if you are that way inclined they might float your boat!
  3. A related question which I have been contemplating for a while, if I place a cache in a hedge/tree by a public footpath does this need the landowners permission? I assume that it would need the farmer/landowner permission but as the majority of caches seem to be in such locations I am sceptical that everyone does it. How does everyone interpret that rule?
  4. or there is: http://www.ukgeocachers.co.uk/catalog/geocoins-c-26.html
  5. I use a Mio A701 with Memory Map, and its a mobile phone as well. Bbattery life can be an issue (3-4 hours). I will investigate the external battery pack myself.
  6. I want to test out whether GSAK is any use to me but it requires a GPX file and I can only get these via premium membership so would someone be willing to send me a GPX file. Not bothered which area its for so long as it has a few geocaches in it and I can see how GSAK works and whether its of any value to me. I have the unregistered trial of GSAK running for 15days and so only have 6 days left to test it.
  7. Many thanks for the various responses, there seems to be several tools out there worthy of a try GSAK being the first. Thanks
  8. I am wondering if I am going about this the best way, so heres a description of what I do. What do you do? Is there a better method? I usually choose a location via memory map on the pc, I have a full set of geocaches in there downloaded from http://www.geocacheuk.org/ occasionally. Because this is a database of 15000 caches it does make mm run very slowly if I want to look at the properties of any tracks, marks, routes etc. Having chosen an area I visit geocaching.com and copy the details into a mark on memory map on the pda. Sometimes I printout the page but ussually just copy the coords and clue into memory map on the pda. Is there a way of getting the web page itself onto the pda? Is there a way of automating this without flooding the pda with 15000 marks, the pda couldnt cope with that.
  9. Anyone know where you can get Travel Bugs in this country. The kids want to start one going but I cannot see anywhere willing to post them to this country.
