  1. Dont think rules will help. Common courtesy would though. Ive been to several caches that had bugs and ive picked up 3 only because i figured i was going to be caching again soon. Took me about 3 weeks to get my first TB find, Blue back out. Work and other family problems got in the way, however i did find time to email his owner and let him know what was going on.. Of course he appreciated that, as i know all of us would. Again, i think common courtesy is what we should all practice!
  2. Ive only been Caching for about 3 months but I really got bit by the bug and have found several caches. Im making mistakes along the way and have asked some questions. so far everyone has been very helpful. Ive hidden one cache and have had good responses. My newest cache is on hold because of my "newbie" screw up, (i lost my travelbug activation code).. Its irritating but its also a learning experience. Just saying that everyone makes mistakes and from what ive seen, most here accept that. Sure hope that people wouldnt avoid my cache just because i am a newbie. I appreciate any feedback if and when i do make mistakes so that i can learn from and correct them! Dont forget, we were all newbies at one time.
  3. Personal cards would be great, a pile of business cards promoting a place of business doesnt seem all that keen. But when you get right down to it, most of the fun of this for me is just finding the cache in the first place!
  4. Thanks Markwell, Jeremy, I know things are busy, especially after this 4th Holiday. Cant believe i misplaced it in the first place,,, oh well, one mistake in 43 years, thats not too bad..

  6. Now this is scary, im finding that i often think along the same lines as Majicman,,,, j/k about the scary part,,,hehe

  8. Ive only placed 2 caches so far but I have to say that thinking of a cache idea, researching the area, spending time averaging coordinates, picking out the container, picking out items to go into the container, printing out and laminating the GeoCache "please read" text, wording my text to be used on the site and hiding the cache to be the enjoyable parts for me. I wouldn't be interested in buying a premade cache. Maybe im too laid back,,but someone else buying a ready made cache just doesnt bother me in the least. Go for it Dudes and Dudettes!!!
  9. Ok, maybe someone can help me. How do you keep your signature from appearing under your post? I know you can declick the "show signature" square, but is there a way to keep it from coming up automatically? I keep forgetting to declick,,, BTW, there is nothing in my signature box on my member edit page.

  11. Now this is weird. I saw the feet moving back and forth when i first scrolled down the page, scrolled farther down and saw about half of them at a stand still, then when i scrolled back up, the moving feet were gone... As far as annoying goes, wouldnt have bothered me. Of course we all have our likes and dislikes. If it was inappropriate that would be something else all together, but those little feet kinda went along with one of the many aspects of our hobby. Ya cant please everybody!!!

  13. Being the respectful bunch that we are, I have no problem with finding or maybe even hiding a cache in a cemetary one of these days. We found our first cemetary cache last month. Was nice, quiet, and was just cool to look over some of the old headstones. Ghost Bugs Cache
  14. Im not good with words but Majicman has stated my sentiments to a tee! My wife has gotten me to think this same way. Try not to worry about it, go about your business, and make sure he/she doesnt see that it bothers you. Luckily this kind of thing happens only rarely, but when it does and that other person sees that you arent bothered in the least,,,, Well, that kinda gets his goat if you know what i mean,, makes me feel better anyways!

  16. Im probably the only one this has happened too but somehow ive lost my activation code for my first Travel Bug. I sent email a couple of days ago and havnt received a reply. Of course i know they get tons of mail so this may take some time, however i was wondering if there is something else i can do to help things along. Home phone number to Jeremy's maybe? I didnt even think about this and had allready set my cache out, had to put a hold on it until i get the bug activated,,, Thanks for any ideas...
  17. I thought this would be a way to pass time when i had some time on my hands. Turns out that its taken a front seat to some of my other fun things i like to do. Chicken has gotten into it now and im sure glad because she does all the hard work, inputting caches into the GPSR, making notes on our finds, making a picnic lunch to bring with us, etc, etc,,,.She is a big help but the truth of the matter is that i just enjoy her company. We're both having fun, getting to see new areas, and getting some good exercise to boot!!!

  19. I learned of this back at the end of March and have been hooked ever since. Its a fun challenge thats good excercise and lets us experience new places. I hid my first cache back in April and am allready planning another one. Hopefully we'll get to meet some of the other Cachers in the area one of these days,, Heck, the only drawback i can find with GeoCaching is having to put up with those pesky redbugs

  21. There have been a couple of times where i didnt really get a chance to even look for a cache. Example being that when arrived, someone showed up and lingered, making it impossible to search. Another time, car broke down about 1/4 mile from the cache. Both of these happened on this one,,, Pleasure Island In these cases i posted a note. Finally on the 3rd try we were able to post a Found It log! Also if im positive that im at the right spot and the cache isnt there, i post a note stating to that fact. There have been a couple that i just couldnt find and in these cases i logged as a Not Found. I finally got to go back and find one of them then posted a new log as Found. This seems appropriate since there are no specific guidelines for logging at this time.
  22. Hey, this might help for some of you that cant "hold it" while out on the trail. The local dollar store has bottle corks by the hundreds in varying sizes. Now im not sure if they will let you try out different ones in the store to see what fits, but as cheap as they are i figure you could buy a few different sizes then see which provides the tightest seal in the privacy of your own home... Seems this would be an ideal addition to anyones GeoCaching backpack. As far as peeing out in the woods, just call me crazy but when i gotta go, i gotta go!!!

  24. Thanks Irvingdog, I think im gonna give it a try, one thing about this kind of bug, it will most certainly have a tracklog all its own, making that part of it original for sure. Just hope that it doesnt go MIA like so many that ive seen on here.
  25. I screwed up when i logged my 2nd Travel Bug find a month or two ago. (had put the tag number in the log). Ive since went back and edited the number out... I now know why its important to not log it! Just wanting to say that it was something a newbie might mistakenly do. I looked over the TB guidelines on the site but dont think there is any reference as to why a tag number shouldnt be logged in. Might help if that was mentioned in those instructions...
