  1. Mine is 12 days. Of course I had heard about Geocaching, and understood what it was YEARS ago. I resisted logging onto the site and eventually forgot about it. I think that was about 2002 or 2003. I don't think there were many where I was, or I had no way to get to them while in college, no GPS, etc. Fast forward to this past summer. My sister caches. The boy and I visited her and family in Germany. My first finds are in Germany and Austria. I logged on and got my handle after we got back to her house. It's been downhill ever since! Now if I can just get some $$ to get some GPSers for my students to use...
  2. I started with a goal of 10 days, then 20, then 30. Next came a goal of 50, 100, 150, now 200. After 200, I will go for 250, 300, and 366. Breaking it up into smaller attainable goals was the key for me. It's fun. I cache on the way home from work. Depending on what time I leave determines my route home. I think the longest route I went home only added 5 miles to my 20 some mile commute already... I know most of the hiders in the area now, so just by reading their pages, I know what to look for (usually) and just seeing if I was right adds to the excitement! I think I will be getting a FTF in the morning on the WAY to work in the morning though. Can't wait for after, it will get snatched up if it hasn't been this evening already. Off to check!
  3. THE FIND COUNT ISN'T A SCORE. If someone logs this event solely because they want +1 on their imaginary score and they really don't believe they attended, then I agree they are just being silly. And perhaps if you're not completely comfortable with using the Attended log you might be concerned if someone has a different opinion. Personally, I feel that anyone who is comfortable using the Attended log to record that they participated in this event either in-person or online, they ought to log their participation and not worry what puritans who make up non-existent rules say. @briansnat - would it help if they changed the name of the log from attended to participated? Apparently some are upset that someone physically attends events but only stays for a few minutes. So you could argue that these people who physically attended an event but didn't stay long enough to participate shouldn't log a participated log. Thank you. You "get" it. Oh, just for the record, my "knickers" (LOVE that word BTW) are not in a twist. I just don't like being called "Deluded" by anyone.
  4. As a person currently working on a 366 streak, I feel the need to comment. I had completed through day whatever when I got hurt. I wasn't able to get out of bed (Dr.'s orders). There "happened" to be an event that day (about 3 hours from me) that I was able to virtually attend. My streak is alive due to that event. The next day, I did get out of the house, and was VERY glad that I had left a quick P&G within 2 miles of my house to get as that was the cache I got that day. Whew. Keeping this streak alive is very important to ME! I am still a "newbie" and I admit it. Although I bet you I have more countries than others who have been caching for as short a time as I have been!
