  1. Not sure where you got those coords but I have seen them on google earth. In setting you can switch it to the right format. Not sure if that is where you are having the problem or not but that is where I had the problem.
  2. As the CO of many caches and with friends who own many I don't know any of us who would be upset by a NM or even a NA. My one friend asked another cacher to please mark some of his that need it with a NM so he would have a easier way to know what ones he needed to fix. Well I should add it is great if you mark one that NM if it actually does NM. The only time I see it can be annoying is if you mark it as NM when it doesn't. I recently had this happen. I went out of my way to fix up a cache that had a NM because log was full. No problem...but when I replaced it and got home I noticed the book I had in there still had about 15 pages blank. The front of the book was full as well as the back but there was still 15 pages blank that could be signed. There was also other pages that had a bunch of room as well. Still not a huge problem but I would have liked to let those get filled up before making a visit.
  3. If a red wrench is in my area I might go for it sooner thinking it might get archived and I want to find it. A red wrench in a area I am not in often would probably get skipped if I have others to find.
  4. They didn't used to but lately every event I have seen is a 1.
  5. I think my reviewer is the best! Definitely no complaints. If anything I need to give him a great review!
  6. This is a old topic to be brought back up! Now having played for around 7 years I have had friends who have caches hidden die. Some are adopted and some taken care of by others. Sad to see and most of them a sudden death so they didn't have time to figure out what they wanted to do with there caches. My daughter has cached with me for the whole time. I will have her take over the account but she wouldn't be able to take care of our many hides. I was thinking to adopt out our popular ones but now that I think about it I would want them on my account so if anyone wanted to look at my profile they could see all of our hide history. We have a bunch of favorite points on our hides. I would like for people to be able to look back and see that we had hides with many favorites. A new trend I am finding is that cachers will go back threw archived caches and remove favorites from caches that are archived. I wish there was a way to freeze a account when someone dies so that is how there profile will look forever but I know that isn't possible.
  7. There is one thing I would definitely do differently in your situation. If your girlfriend and you plan to cache every weekend and are on a island I would go find those caches before asking a CO to give them up. You will soon run out of caches to find on a island.
  8. Could you please share the date and place of the sex-ed meeting at the nearby college? I am asking for a friend! Just kidding. Please do as you are planning and remove it from the cache. I have found weed and once a pipe in caches before. It is rare but it does happen. Seems you just got lucky on your first one. It doesn't happen often. I hope you will get passed it and keep on caching.
  9. That log you posted briansnat is so cool! I had to look up the cache to read the rest of the story! A part of me wanted to look up his profile to read all of his logs but I knew that would get me into something I probably don't have time for right now but sounds like I would enjoy it. I would definitely take logs like that on our caches!
  10. I know exactly what the OP is talking about. He doesn't want any of his owned caches to show as archived. We were also this way when we started. (I also think it is cool you feel this way) We had a similar problem as well. My daughter and I as a caching team. I read off the coords to my daughter and she wrote them down. Somehow 2 numbers got mixed up. Cache got published but was on someones roof. The next morning I got a bunch of logs of it being on someones property. I accidentally hit archive instead of disable from my phone while at work. I then had the cache published at the right coords but we had a archived cache in our list of hides. It bothered us a lot. I asked a reviewer if I could use the GC# for a different hide or something but there was no way. We went for 5 years and probably over 150 hides without archiving any but always had that one bothering us. Advice for the OP that I have learned now after hiding for like 7 years. #1 That cache is a event...Those have to be archived and it is not a blemish it is just how those work. The reason we never had one. #2 This took us a long time to realize but if you keep hiding caches in your area and never archive any it can kind of kill the game in your area. For you and for your caching friends. Spots will keep filling up and everyone active will have already found them. Then you might start to notice there are no new caches being published. I am not saying at all you are taking up all the places but it can hurt the area over time. Not the amount of time you have been doing it but many years later. The day 5 years later I finally hit archive for one it was kind of a relief. Some caches become harder to maintain over time. I could still maintain them all but am realizing some of them might not be helping as much as hurting. I hate to see them on our list that we archived but it is part of the game. I am making a effort to start archiving some of our less special ones just to make room for more new hides, even if I could maintain them.
  11. It confused me the other day as well! I got it figured out but might have to use noncentric way next time.
  12. This is true unless the hide is more difficult then the challenge. Not to long ago I made Wherigo and I didn't mean for the hide to be difficult. Or the Wherigo. Turns out the hide is for some reason almost impossible to find. Even though I say where to look in the cartridge. I hated to do it but I had to up the D rating. I don't want people to think the Wherigo is going to be difficult but the hide needed the D to be upgraded. Now I need to go replace the hide so it is easier to find and then I might make the same hide somewhere else with a high D rating as it is obviously crazy hard to find.
  13. I got a response like this back in the day for a challenge. It was different back then but I was able to come up with a couple of cachers who could qualify and it was published. Not saying that will happen now but I think to ask a cache hider to look threw and find 10 is a little much for the hider. I am sure I have signed many challenges that I qualify for but I won't even look threw my own stats to see if I qualify. Hope you can get it worked out!
  14. The app I use has a refresh button but not sure what app you are using. You could probably add a note from your phone. If that shows up it will probably be refreshed and then you can just delete the note.
  15. I have put them on a few containers. I usually can't fill out some of the info when hiding it because I don't know what I am going to name it for sure when hiding or the GC code. That could be some of the reason. I guess CO and email could be added at anytime though.
  16. If you want to paint the container and also follow this suggestion you can take a piece of tape, Say maybe tape that is 1" wide. Put a strip of it around the bottom or a couple of strips on it before painting. Paint the container how you want it and then when dry remove the tape and it will still have some places for someone who wants to look inside can but the container also isn't fully clear. Or if you decided to camo the cache with duct tape you can leave a few spots open so it can be seen inside while also adding some camo to it.
  17. When we first started I would take my car gps along with my phone to get more ideas on coords when hiding a cache.
  18. I would definitely find some here before you go to give you a idea on how to do it when you get there.
  19. I wouldn't buy a Beacon. I would think to many different things could happen and not give you the results you are looking for. My daughter and I once went to look for a cache. We found small swagg down below the tree but no cache. I looked above it on the tree and a crazy amount of huge rat droppings all over the tree. Logged a DNF and what we did find. CO replaced it and it went missing again quickly and he archived it. I contacted him and it was a film canister set in the tree. No way with all those rats there they wouldn't tear it up and run off with it. I offered to help him find something that would work and he said he was done with the hide that we should hide something there. We took a old heavy metal army first aid kit and hid it there. I knew the rats couldn't move that. It was over 5 years ago and it is still there. So if it is animals maybe you just have to change up the container and hide. If you keep hiding the same thing it will probably keep happening. I would try a clean metal container and then tether it somehow. If that goes missing then it is probably muggles.
  20. Back to the original question of what would I do. Finding it at the point you did I wouldn't do anything. From the picture the hole looks like it has been there for a while. I don't see any drill shavings around or a clean drilled hole. Maybe if you had found it 10 months ago you might have a little bit more to go on. As of now I don't see anything to report because it doesn't look like a fresh drilled hole to me.
  21. I have no doubt that your way works just the same as what I posted. I was just sharing the link of what I go to when I am inserting a pic. I will have to remember your way as well!
  22. Another problem I have with it is that it doesn't email me when I have a message. If someone is looking for my cache and they message me 95% of the time I will respond within min to help them out. Now I don't get a email and don't see it until later when I go on the computer. To late to help.

  24. I also wouldn't do anything. You can message the ones you know but in my experience they won't go back out there special just to see the new container.
