  1. Thanks Folks, For your prompts. Funny how when things go missing you're not sure exactly what was there before I got the EDIT button sorted first (it was missing) logged off then on again, EDIT button appeared. Mention of IE prompted me to have a look at a forum on there. Yes that's exactly how my FireFox used to be. After a bit of thought I realised I have used Adbloc Plus on FireFox (my preferred browser), but not on IE (hardly ever use that except via GSAK). Disabled Adbloc and all the symbols magically appeared. Regards Bernard
  2. Hello All, I recently upgraded to FireFox 5 then very quickly reverted back to FireFox 4 (because 5 doesn't support the Google toolbar), the problem is that I've now lost the legend from all Groundspeak forums. Thats the box to the left of the forum page that indicates :- New Replies No New Replies Hot Topic (New) Hot Topic (No New) Poll (New) Poll (No New) Locked Topic Moved Topic Can someone tell me how to reinstate this feature please. Regards Bernard PS Pressed "Add Reply" to quickly, there doesn't seem to be a facility to edit. Sorry yes there is I take it under "Preview Post". Yes that works.

  4. Hi, Have a look here. Regards Bernard
  5. Hello, Make your Open Street Map OSM for the 60csx from here I don't know what the detail is like for Canada but it's worth a try as it's completely free. You can look at it in Mapsource before messing with the GPS.
  6. Just out of curiosity.... How do you arrive at 1-50000 for Garmin's Topo maps? I have that on my 60CSx and you can zoom in (or out) to pretty much any scale you like. Hello, Only a rough comparison of the information contained and particularly the lack of field boundarys. By that I'd say the Garmin GB Topo and the Landranger are very similar. Zooming in is another matter, 1-50000 maps can be zoomed in as close as 1-1000 in Memory Map (even closer in Mapsource, but you don't get any more information. Regards Bernard
  7. The current price (with an extra 750km2 making 2250km2 total) of the Explorer OS map at 1-25000 digital download is £50.00 . UK area 243000km2 divided by 2250km2 = 108 x £50.00 = £5400.00 for complete UK coverage. They are still the best though. OSM for quality does compare favourably with the OS 1-50000 LandRanger and gets better all the time. Compare it with the Garmin 1-50000 GB Topo map and I think the OSM comes out on top IMHO. I'm currently using OSM and uploading more paths to the map as I go along. Regards Bernard
  8. Hello There, Pick your Mix here, the worlds your oyster for OSM Garmin maps. As for caches it's a bit to far for me. Regards Bernard
  9. Hello, I have Windows 7 64 bit on my new computer. I had two problems when moving MM European Edition over. One was that I couldn't just copy over the the file or install afresh onto drive C where the old installation used to be. I could install it in drive C but it was not recognized. When I reinstalled as Windows 7 wanted into drive C/Program Files (x86) it was recognized. Then came problem two, the migration of the license. I had to get help from Memory-Map Europe Technical Support to sort that out. It did eventually all get sorted out though. Regards Bernard
  10. Me Again, It may be that your unit software needs updating. Apparently "GPSMAP 60CSx software version 4.00 as of May 26, 2009" added a hold level feature to tell you when the unit was not level. The hold level business applies to when you are using the compass, in map mode it doesn't matter. Regards Bernard
  11. Hello There, You don't hold the unit with the antenna up or down. You have to hold the unit level, that is flat with the screen facing straight up to the sky. I can't find the page in the manual or the quick user guide. Regards Bernard
  12. Hello There, If you do use Silicone Sealant degrease/clean the area with white spirit first, allow to dry off, apply sealant. Dip a finger or tool in the spirit to manipulate the sealant into place before it starts to cure and to clean off any excess. Regards Bernard
  13. Best way to get all Norfolk caches is probably by radius from the center. So the centroid of Norfolk just South East of East Dereham roughly Badley Moor, an open access site, 52°39.966'N, 0°58.534'E. Therefore a radius of 34 miles should do it. The earliest still living cache in Norfolk I think was placed on 24-8-2001, Holkham Haul, GC1984. With a little bit of work the dates for PQ's can easily be worked out. What a load of useless information I drag around! Regards Bernard
  14. Hello There, There's a button on the top of the page beside where your name box is to toggle this menu feature on or off. It seems like this is not working properly as it seems to show up only at certain page width. Try widening or narrowing your page. Also when the menu is showing the button is to the top left, when the menu is not showing the button is to the top right. I'm using Firefox 4.0.1 Regards Bernard
  15. Hi, Yes the best screen protector there is and testament to the lifetime warranty I've just got a free replacement for my 2 year old 60csx protector. It somehow got a wide scuff mark across the center which I could not polish off. It must have been my own fault even so it was replaced promptly no questions asked, you have to return the original once you've received the replacement. First class service, thanks Zagg Regards Bernard
  16. Hello Colwyn, Pocket Query's will give you 500 or 1000 at a time. See Here for How To Then have a look at GSAK for storing and manipulating waypoint's Regards Bernard
  17. Hello There, I'm guessing a bit as you're not specific as to your question. I see you haven't published those caches you mention you've "put out" so I guess you want to know how to create the way-point on the 60csx. First get a good signal on the GPS ie turn it on position yourself with a large proportion of sky visible for about ten minutes. Proceed to (ground zero), the place of the cache hide. Have the GPS with a good view of open sky if possible and close to the hiding place. Press MARK on the GPS, on the bottom of the screen toggle over to highlight AVG (average). Press ENTR (enter). Wait until the Measurement Counter gets up to a couple of hundred. Save is already highlighted so just press ENTR. Note the way-point number at the top of the screen, (change it if you wish). DO NOT FORGET highlight OK (bottom of screen) and press ENTR. That way-point is averaged to as many times as the counter indicated. I just average 50 to 100 times. Regards Bernard PS. If that wasn't the question please ask again.
  18. Hello, We're not that daft over here surely. Just hold the GPSr level and there's no need for all that squit. Regards Bernard
  19. Hello There Check out the Open Street Map it includes USA, updated about every two weeks I think. Free World Routable Maps
  20. Hello Everyone, Sorry about the corrupted link in the first post. It was working OK but it seems the latest changes to the forum have messed it up. I can't find a way to edit the post so please use the links others have posted above or copy and paste text from initial post. Regards Bernard
  21. Hello There, TalkyToaster does a real good UK map, OSM maps plus SMC contours. He updates them frequently, they'll go on most Garmin GPS's and they can be used in Mapsource or Basecamp. Be careful though you could easily get drawn into contributing to the OSM project as I have. Oh the link is here. Regards Bernard Now back to uploading Norfolk footpaths.
  22. Yes I also like Marmite! I don't like the grey on grey presentation, some of the colours are a bit easier to read, black on white is far easier to read though. Regards Bernard
  23. Hello Abi, You're obviously concerned enough to ask, so for your sake I'd say yes. A simple statement to take extra care with your link to the news item. Regards Bernard
  24. Hello There, First off try VIEW ZOOM RESET, see if that helps.
  25. Hello There, I once messed Mapsource up when trying to delete some maps. There were two registry faults which were eventually sorted out by running a free registry cleaner. It was either the CCleaner one or Glary Registry Repair. I've used both of these free utilities for a long time with no problems. Regards Bernard
