  1. Hi, I use Memory Map in the UK, it does all you ask. In the UK Ordnance Survey maps are used which are about the best, I don't know about the quality of the Topo 1-25000 maps sold with MemoryMap USA. You are limited to maps from Memory Map no other maps are compatible, but you can import map image files, TIFF PNG GIF JPG if my memory serves me correctly. Regard Bernard
  2. Hi, GlobalSat BT-388 extremely good I use it with an Ipaq in conjunction with MemoryMap and CoPilot. I think it has about twenty satellite channels to choose from. Regards Bernard
  3. Hi, I found five, , , Oh! and completely agree with all you say. How do we scupper Facebook, that really is the lowest of all trash. Regards Bernard
  4. Hello There, Sorry I don't know the answer to your problem. There is a KnowledgeBase, Forum and Tech Support at the MemoryMap site links at the bottom of This Page I've got MM on my PC and HP Ipaq and I've had a good response from the company regarding problems. Regards Bernard
  5. Hi. The free OSM maps from HERE will work in Garmins BaseCamp or MapSource. I don't think either of them will generate circles round way-points though. Regards Bernard
  6. Hello, The GPS60 manual is HERE see page 68 and 43 I think I'm right in assuming the 60 does not have a storage card so unlike the 60CSx the GPS60 does not have an option for USB mass storage interface. The interface mode must be set to GARMIN and the USB box should indicate connected. Does your say connected or not connected? I think I'd suspect the PC of not seeing the unit before I'd condemn it. Regards Bernard
  7. Hello, A Google search for "quick guide to the 60csx on geocaching.com" brings this page up and many more. Regards Bernard
  8. Hi, Do a search for " garmin etrex manuals " , most if not all are available as free download. You can keep the manual on the PC to save printing out. Regards
  9. Hi, You can't, it's going back to the routing instruction screen, how else would you get your route instructions. If the co-pilot/navigator is in charge of the GPS no problem, they read the instruction relay it to the pilot/driver, then go back to what they were doing. The pilot/driver shouldn't be messing about with the GPS whilst piloting/driving so there's no problem. I'm not saying you are, but please be aware that manipulating a GPS while driving is extremely dangerous could even be fatal to you or other innocent folk. Regards Bernard
  10. I do beg your pardon, Don_J is correct, there's no card, that explains the problem. Regards Bernard
  11. Hello There, It doesn't need Mapsource or Basecamp for the PC to see/look at the SD Card. The card is recognised as a drive and the steps I described before are for the card to be seen as a drive on your PC. You won't be able to do anything to the unit settings on the SD Card, that holds the maps, except I think for the Base Map, and POI files. If you want to upload tracks, waypoints or caches then you'll need Mapsource or somrthing similar. If you want to upload POIs you'll need Garmins PoiLoader or something similar. What exactly are you trying to do, or what has gone wrong that needs to be put right? Regards Bernard
  12. Hello, Connect the Garmin to the PC via a cable. Turn the unit on. On the unit press menu (maybe twice to get the main menu up). Select SETUP then INTERFACE then USB MASS STORAGE. Wait a sec and the unit should appear as a drive on your PC. Regards Bernard
  13. Hello There, Back to finding a Cache. I notice this morning you've still not managed to log a find. I've had a look at the cache pages your way and I would sayGC1QEJ1 looks about the easiest. Have a look at the gallery of photos on the page as well as the hint, they'll show the size of the container and roughly where it is. Also if you can, copy and paste the cache coordinates from the cache page into Google Maps, go to street view, you can then see it must be in the narrow hedge. Satellite or Earth view points to the largest tree though that might not be exact. Hope that will help you.It won't be long before you're both experts! Regards Bernard
  14. Hello There, I can't comment on the 62 model but there is a lot of helpful information HERE Don't throw the puter and gps against the wall that could still endanger the lives of your wife and kids. Just parcel them up and send them my way please, I'll pay for postage. Why does it happen? That's life! Regards Bernard
  15. Hello, I've got a GlobalSat model number "BT-338" that I use with an HP Ipaq 4700. Review Here! Works perfectly with Memory Map and plays Wherigo. Sorry don't know anything about the Ipad but if the Ipad is bluetooth then it should work. Regards Bernard
  16. Hello There, I've really no idea which way you'll be going. If you're not to familiar with the old boating mularky I suppose it might depend on which way the boats pointing when you get to Acle. If you don't get the sails up pretty quick it'll depend on which way the tides going. You're definitely going to have fun. There's plenty of caches at all the main places you might stop at. Down around the Beecles area there are a few caches that need to be done by boat, but thats about 35 miles away from Acle by boat. Plenty in Norwich which is reached via Great Yarmouth from Acle. Going the other way lots of caches at Potter Heigham and Ludham (watch out for ones by Captain Birdseye, they could be tricky) and Wroxham. Regards Bernard
  17. Hello, I noticed your question yesterday but I don't have the 62s so didn't answer. Have a look at it might show you roughly how things are changed in the profiles/dashboard. Regards Bernard
  18. Hello Grumpys, This thread on the Memory Map site seems to answer your question. Looks like importing to MM from the 62st is handled differently from the 76. Regards Bernard Edit Apparently there are some problems with the usb connection answered in threads in the same search, =23&sc=1&sf=all&sk=t&sd=d&sr=posts&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search"]here's the search page.
  19. Hello Grumpys, This thread on the Memory Map site seems to answer your question. Looks like importing to MM from the 62st is handled differently from the 76. Regards Bernard Edit This was the search on MM, apparently there are issues with the usb connection answered in these threads.
  20. Hello There, Also when using Rutson's excellent Memory Map export macro to display caches on Memory Map if you check the box "Display Spiders" the solved ? is displayed at the corrected coordinates and a line is drawn back to a large blue dot at the original coordinate. Regards Bernard
  21. Hello There, Taken from the Garmin Knowledge Base :- Question: How do I change the position format on my GPSMAP 62/78? Answer: GPS coordinates can be displayed in different formats depending on the source or use. Garmin's default position format is h ddd mm.mmm. You can change the way GPSMAP 62/78 displays the coordinates of your location by changing the position format. To change the position format: Go to the Main Menu Choose Setup Choose Position Format Select the position format you would like to use The position format is now changed, and this format will now display all of the coordinates on the Garmin device. Regards Bernard
  22. Hello drsolly, This one works well :- # MacDescription = Review for Archived Caches after loading a fresh pocket query # MacFileName = Review_For_Archive_API.gsk # MacAuthor = GeePa # MacVersion=1.6 #MacUrl=http://gsak.net/board/index.php?showtopic=19171&view=findpost&p=139607 Regards Bernard
  23. Hello There, There will be as many as necessary all on top of each other so you only actually see one way-point on the map. I can't find a multiple waypoint hint on my GPS at the moment but I think they are listed as Hint, Hint1, Hint2 and so on. Regards Bernard
  24. Hello There, Basically if you make a CSV file of your POI and a corresponding BMP icon to represent that POI (16*16 bit). Name both CSV and BMP with an idendical name (ie myfamily.csv - myfamily.bmp). Put these two files in a folder called myfamily then run POI Loader and point it to your myfamily folder. This will create a file on the GPS sd card called poi.gpi Each time you upload new POI a new poi.gpi file is created over the previous one. If you want to keep the POI file permanently on the GPS then you can then rename the poi.gpi file on the sd card to myfamily. Next time you run POI Loader be sure to click the button "Install new custom POI onto your device" , the myfamily POI will still be there with. This thread is a bit dated but there's a ton of mostly still relevant information. Regards Bernard
