  1. One more thing, the sensitivity of the LegendC is 100 times better than the Legend and the acquisition of satellites is really quick.
  2. It's for profit so you can bet it is NOT GC.com approved.
  3. The base map that comes with the plain legend has more roads than the legend C or the 60 series. The 76 base map and the legend seem to have the same map. I know because I have the Legend and was at Gander Mountain yesterday and compared the Legend C, all the Map60 seriers and the the 3 76 series they had there. The sales guys were surprised to find out that the Legend C and the 60's had less roads.

  5. After reading this thread at work today I came home and uninstalled Garmin TOPO then copied the 3 CD's to a directory that I created called TOPO. Ran set up from this directory and everything works great. Thanks!!!! I sure hated to carry around those cd's. Bob
  6. Thanks everyone for you replies. I think I will hold out for the new models to come out and see what others say about them in the real world. Bob
  7. Thanks from me also. I was hoping there was some kind of work around to swapping those CD's!
  8. I have a Garmin Legend that I am going to use for GeoCacheing and Hunting. It is having a hard time with keeping satellite connection when I am in the woods where I will be when hunting. I have been reading about the Garmin Gpsmap 60c and wonder what the reception experience has been with those that use this model. I would like to be able to put the unit in my pocket and leave it on while hunting. Will the antenna on this unit work better in a upright position while in my chest pocket? The legend I have read needs to be held horizontal. And even when I do walk with it horizontal in the woods most of time I will loose the satellites. TIA Bob
  9. Will the Garmin TOPO maps allow autorouting on the legend C?
  10. Thanks to both of you for your quick responses. They both make sense. I do have a question though. What is meant by: be sure it has an ADJUSTED position, NOT SCALED
  11. Just a quick question here about an observation I had today with my Garmin Legend. At 10:00 this morning I took a walk out doors and let my gps set on the satellite page for about 5 minutes. I watched it accuire satellites and the "D's" show up along with it acuring satellite #35. The accuracy settled to 8 feet which is the best it had ever done. Then at 12:30 I went to the exact same spot with the unit laying in the same position and tried it again. This time it would only go to 30' accuracy with all the satellites being the same as a little over 2 hours earlier. My question is why would it be so different with all the other variables that I can see are the same? Any input from the experts? Thanks Bob
  12. I am using a old Casio BE300 and GSAK. I just have GSAK convert to html and send it as a web page to the Casio.
  13. Sputnik 57 thanks! Really quick reply. Looks like it will work fine for me. I just checked for geo cache's in my area and there a lots. Just sent the wife the url for geocaching.com so she could see what is going on. Thanks again Bob
  14. Hello everyone one. I am new to this site and gps in general. I am going to ask for the Legend C for Christmas but I would like to ask a few questions here. How slow does the speed go down to? Will it read in 10th's of a mile? I wonder if this well let me measure my ground speed from my compact utility tractor when I am spraying. Has anyone used the area calculation feature? Can it be used to calculate an acre of land? I want to start geo caching and see that it has been recommeded for this. From the reading I have been doing I think it would be a fun thing for the wife and I to do together. I am looking forward to reading the replies here and learning more. Thanks Bob
