I asked in another forum, but nobody seems to have any info so I will try here. How do you find the "Time" associated with your recorded track? For example, lets say I was hiking in a straight line, at a big tree I turned north and continued hiking. How do I find out what time it was when I was at the tree? Or how long it took from the start to the tree? Is this possible?
I want to die like my grandfather did, peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming and yelling like the passengers in his car.

I have read several times about people retrieving "time" data from thier gps. For example, a fellow mentioned he had recieved a speeding ticket. By examining the time and position in his gpsr's memory, he proved that he was averaging much slower and got his ticket reduced. I could care less about the guy's ticket, but I would like to know where to find the information he used. Any help out there?

I too vote for pattern #2, and have updated my cache with the quilt background. Expected a little more interest for the cache than it has recieved thus far (none). Well the weekend is not yet over. Cheers everyone!!

I visited a CBN Survey Marker today and was not expecting what I found. A concrete pillar (formed by one of those cardboard tubes) with a stainless steel plate mounted into the concrete at the top. It stood about 5 feet high and had a threaded nipple in the middle of the plate. Can someone tell me why this would be in Campbell River (what makes us so special, its the only one on Vancouver Island) and how its used? If you are in Canada, I recommend www.gpscentral.ca , they were very helpfull, cheap and pricematch. Also, if you live outside Alberta (they ship from Calgary) you dont have to pay PST. Shipping cost are as cheap as you could ask for. They even threw in a free set of batteries!

it's HDD(D)° MM.MMM Hemisphere, degrees, minutes, and decimal minutes.
I'm really bored at 1:50 am in the morning, otherwise I would not care

Simply set your Vista to HDDDMM.MMM (It is set this way by default) under the main menu - settings - units section. everyone uses the same format for geocaching and will make it easier to get used to.

I live on Vancouver Island, we got about 3 inches of rain today. We also got 2 inches of snow - all in about 4 hours. You Ontario people make me sick!
(But only slightly, I used to live in Ottawa)

I have use suction cup mounts for item other than GPSr's. Generally, if you use a bit of vaseline or KY jelly under the suction cup, they are almost impossible to get off. (why am I getting so turned on?) But truly, I would give this a try.

As a well trained and experienced first aider, the method I am familiar with, and which works quite well is:
1. Place a drinking straw or pen barrel down over the tick at a 45° angle and slide a piece of thread down the straw so it is right next to the skin where the tick is attached.
2. Tie a firm (not too tight), single knot around the jaw of the tick as close as possible to the surface of the skin.
3. Remove the straw and pull the tread gently upward until the tick comes away from the skin.
The Patient should be sent to medical aid if:
1. the body parts of the tick are separated from the head and cannot be removed.
2. The tick has been attached for more than 24 hours.
3. Signs or symptoms appear, such as paralysis, headaches, fever, or skin rash.
Also, keep the tick for a few days until any chance of symptoms passes, this way the tick can be taken to the hospital for analysis to better aid in the patients diagnosis.

then what is the point of allowing me to adjust the altitude inside of the GPS? Does it just reset itself when I turn it on?

Not to worry, I have a wrist mounted analog altimeter that shows my decent at about 180 ft/sec. Thanks for the info guys!
