  1. I think it's a reasonable request to ask for public transport information on an event page. I also find parking co-ords useful when going caching in an unfamiliar area, especially if finding the cache is going to involve a lengthy walk. We have included public transport suggestions on some of our cache pages (for those caches that are close to public transport). Surely it is a good thing to encourage cachers not to use their cars if there is a sensible alternative? Caching is supposed to be a healthy pursuit, after all!
  2. We've placed a few caches in the last few weeks. One evening I had two to post, one straight after the other. The first cache was published before I had finished entering the details for the second. This must be a record. Thanks Deceangi!
  3. I didn't know that; I read about it on another site (completely unrelated to geocaching). But since we've been caching since last October and hadn't heard of this until yesterday, there will probably be other newbies who might find it of interest.

  5. I thought this might be of interest to fellow geocachers: Geograph
  6. We use Memory Map 2004 version which is more than satisfactory for our needs. We purchased region 6 in April for £15 plus postage (from EVO) of £2.90. See this thread for more info/opinions...
  7. I'd like to have found 100 by our one year anniversary in October. Other commitments prevent us from going caching as much as I would like, so this is a realistic target as we are currently on 70. I'd like our 100th to be a bit special too. We've now placed 10 caches and I'd like them to be found regularly (our first one does not get many visitors, the other 9 are still new enough to be interesting!). We'll probably place some more fairly soon. We currently have 4 TBs, three very new and one stuck in a TB hotel in Devon. I'd like to see the new TBs starting their missions. We have one more TB to set up and release.
  8. I wil make a note of it and do our best! We are hoping to wander into Cornwall anyway. Thank you - we would really appreciate it if you could help this TB achieve the first part of its mission. We will watch the relevant space!
  9. I can't recommend any caches in Devon as we have never cached there, but perhaps you could rescue our "Short Way Round" TB which has been stuck in a TB Hotel since 2nd April! GCPG33 Travelbug Travelodge It needs to move towards Cornwall. Any help you can give would be much appreciated!
  10. Saw this yesterday but haven't had the chance to look properly yet. We'll probably use it to plot caches along our C2C route.
  11. I have camped in October and been very cold, so we probably wouldn't attend a camping event in October, even though we love camping in the summer. We might attend as day visitors though as we have friends who live near Southampton. Ringwood is a lot nearer to us than Derbyshire and we haven't done much caching in that area.
  12. We, too, had a fantastic time - great scenery, great weather, great company and of course, great caching. We overheard part of the above conversation and, talking about it later, wondered whether the farmer had noted registration numbers of the day or evening visitors and assumed they were camping? But as Bud says it would be a great shame if cachers got a bad name because of an oversight or misunderstanding and we hope this can be rectified. Anyway, this was our first "residential" caching event and we really enjoyed ourselves. I see the same weekend next year being a problem for us as our daughter will be in the middle of GCSEs but we'll certainly attend another event some time. Many thanks to House of Boo and everyone else who helped to make it great.
  13. I hope it's up and running by this evening as we've got to plan for COC!
  14. A quick question (apologies if this has already been addressed somewhere). Will there be a barbecue or other food available (to buy, presumably) on Saturday's Hawaiian night? We don't mind if there isn't, but we don't know what to expect as we've never been to a residential geocaching event before. We'd hate to bring perishable food that we then have to throw away if we don't use it and the weather's too hot to store it safely. (We are experienced campers so quite able to cook while camping but it would be great not to have to if there is an alternative "on site"). We assume also that we bring our own drink (alcoholic or otherwise). Many thanks.
  15. Oops - correcting radius - 200 caches cover a 10 mile radius from here.
  16. Well, we've reached the top of the waiting list and been offered a place at the event. The problem is, we don't know where we're supposed to be going. Is it like finding a cache, where you are given the co-ords and you have to navigate to the location using a GPS? Or are we able to know the name of the campsite? Help, someone, pleeeease??
  17. Also 2 out of 200, also west London, but 200 caches cover a 7.5 mile radius from here. Could you hold up the dropping of the Canadian coin, Bhodisatva? We've got people coming round soon and won't be able to go caching and grab it!
  18. Thank you, this worked! Thanks also to Sensei for your suggestions.
  19. I saw that, but we have three pictures in the gallery and I'd like to use one of them. I think our gallery pictures are no longer on the camera card.
  20. It is not always retrieving the cache that requires stealth, but looking through the box (especially when the contents are appealing to the younger members of the team) and signing the log...
  21. Is it possible to add a picture to our TB's "homepage"? We set up our TB's page and added pictures of it to the gallery later. Is it possible to display one of these pictures on the TB's "homepage"? (I think this is called the default picture.) I know it can be done when you are setting up the page (as we did this with our second TB), but the TB is already up and running - actually it is languishing in a TB hotel where it has been for 2 months. Any help would be appreciated and I hope I have explained this clearly.
