  1. I've been to many caches trying for FTF where a bunch of cachers all show up at the same time. We spend a long time chatting while looking for the cache and at the same time we 'discover' coins and travel bugs that others have brought along with them. Some we leave in the cache or trade, others we carry to our next destination. Part of the fun of geocaching is 'discovering'.
  2. We have some geocaching friends who live in a remote area without many caches. We often take coins we have found that week to their home where they 'discover' them. They get the cool icon on their home page and we return with the coins and place them back into caches in the more populated areas. Our friends may not otherwise be able to see these wonderful coins. We sometimes take interesting Travel Bugs as well but they don't bother discovering them as there are no icons involved.
  3. My husband and I both have an Extrex Vista C. We've had them almost 3 years and use them almost daily, mainly geocaching. Neither have been a problem other than the rubber surround comes loose in the heat but I think we've got that one licked now The new model is the Vista Cx. I'd definitely purchase another.
  4. We will be visiting Argentina the beginning of November. We are staying in Santa Fe for two weeks and Buenos Aires for 2 days. Can anyone recommend any geocaches that are within a short day's drive that will take us to some sights we should see? We are taking many coins and travel bugs we hope to drop off. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  6. I just activated my travel bug but made a mistake in the 'Origin'. How can I edit it? If not possible can I delete the TB and reactivate it again using the same tracking number and activation code?
  7. On my own TB page I can see the TB photo in the gallery but how can I get the photo to show up on the main TB page?
  8. We have been in touch with Geocache.com and they said it sometimes take up to a week. We have noticed that some caches in our area are taking up to 7 days to get posted. No problem other than our cache is getting lonely for some visitors. RVTraveller
  9. iflyrc2 I just tried the updated Map Source! You can even cut and paste waypoints from new queries into your "master map file" Give it a try! I think this is what we have been looking for. Very RVTraveller
  10. Hi iflyrc2 Great to see that you now have your own GPS. It's not that we don't like hanging around with your guys But there is a time when the newbies must leave the nest So far so good with using both the EasyGPS and Map Source even when running my iPAQ at the same time. Did you see the post from Neo_Geo as he says Map Source will open the .loc files? That is even better huh? One software program to do all. Anyway, can't wait until the cruise. Want to do the Geo Cache / Amazing Race thing Have a great New Year. Talk to you when we get back from our Geo Caching expedition in the U.S.A. RVTraveller
  11. Dooh! I forgot to select the day to run it. Sorry everyone RVTraveller
  12. I have did a couple of queries yesterday in GPX format which haven't been sent to my to me by email yet. I was wondering if anyone else is having an issue? RVTraveller
  13. I've been using my iFinder H2O loaded with my fishing software for the past couple of months since getting into geocaching. It's works great but I could use the mapping data. A couple of times I've come out of the bush onto a road and have no idea where I am. Thank god for cell phones I'm in the process of getting a cable to interface with the internet then I'll see how it is then. I am purchasing either the e-Trex Vista or Legend C for my wife for Christmas. It will be good to compare both when they are in action together in the new year. RVTraveller
  14. I had a dream last night that someone posted a topic about Yahoo starting a geocaching site. It started out like this: I had a bizarre dream last night in which Yahoo! opened up a competing geocaching site. However, they called me in as a highly paid business consultant to evaluate their business model because something wasn't working right Just kidding Don't you just hate or love dreams like that? 15. Let me see........ -Falling down! -Walking and looking at the gps at the same time....could be the reason for above -Enjoying some quality time with my Geo wife RVTraveller
  16. It's kinda funny that you never think it's going to happen to you huh? Well that's what I thought three weeks ago after a day of caching with some friends we took out to share our adventure. After hiking up and down Bear Hill on Vancouver Island and I'm no more than 20 feet away from the car when down I go like a ton of bricks! It was like slipping on ice as one moment I'm on my feet then the next thing I know is that my back has now slammed onto the rocky slope. It happened so quick I couldn't put my hand out to stop me (probably a good thing). Took the wind out of me as I thought I busted some ribs. I managed to get down to the car with help.....yes my GPS was fine as it was in my hand that didn't hit the ground After four days of unbelievable muscle spasams and my ribs feeling like knives going through them and me just being stubborn , my Geo wife finally convinced me to get x-rays. The x-ray technician couldn't believe nothing broke as he let me see the pictures. I couldn't even see the ribs due to the blackness caused by the bruising. Thank god for three types of medication to get me back on my feet. Like I said it's been three weeks (of hell) and I can't wait to get back out there this weekend. Not a good first impression for our new Geo friends but it's a memory we will share for quite sometime. RVTraveller
