  1. Thanks for the reply. That pointer is just too big... I'm sure there was a way to reduce the size in my older 60CSX... Wished they made that an option with this model
  2. Am I missing something? How do I change the size of the (rather large) blue heading pointer on the map page of my new Garmin 64st? Thanks, "LowBat"
  3. As long as the cache is placed so you can maintain it.
  4. I usually don't trade items. When I stumble across caches filled with kid trinkets I leave them for the kids. What I find myself doing more often is "maintaining" some of the cache (ziploc bags, writing instruments, logbook/paper and what not). This way the next cacher to find the cache has a better experience.
  5. Choice is good...I choose not to do these types of caches. Even if the land owner approves of the cache, it's when the nosey neighbour calls the police concerning a "suspicous person" poking about the yard next door! Kind of takes the whole "stealth" aspect out of the hunt when blue and red lights are flashing about you!
  6. If they look like they are really struggling I would suggest a team hunt as I approached them; if it looks like they are "spot on", I'd hold up and wait to play second fiddle.
  7. Sorry for the delay in replying... Your suggestion was the ticket! All is well. Thanks for the help.
  8. Any way to delete all my previous pocket queries (pq) from my "Manage Pocket queries" page? Each time that I wish to request a new pq I have to scroll past all my previous requests that I don't care to review ever again.
  9. Thanks folks. Must have been a server problem in the past to get my in a tizzle. All seems well now; not instantanious downloads, but not days either.
  10. How long does it take to get your query sent to you after you have asked for it? I have waited days; does that make sense? In order for me to update right before I go out and hunt, I'd have to look into my crystal ball to plan my download.
  11. Thanks JimmyReno and JamieZ. Looks like you folks are pointing me in the right direction. I'll give that a try. I seem to always overlook the obvious ~Thanks
  12. Followed directions mentioned above and all is well; both maps loaded in, with the ability to switch when desired. Thanks.
  13. Am I correct in understanding that if you don't have a DVD drive on your PC, you can't install v7? Think is was a CD put into their DVD drive.
  14. When downloading PQs how do you ensure you only get caches that you haven't received before? I am trying to populate my GSAK database and since there are only 1001 caches in my area it should only take 2 full queries and one leftover, no? Is there some sort of filter that I should be using that will only send waypoints that I have not requested before? My goal is to have all the available waypoints installed into GSAK then dump them into my GPSr. I have yet to have the database fully populated with 4 PQs so far (even when selected to the maximum 500 waypoints and 1200 KM from my coordinates) . There has got to be a way! ~LowBat~
  15. So after entering the Setup Map page I see that there is a listing for my MetroGuide, but none for the Topo; even if I select "hide Metroguide". There is a Base Map as well, but I believe that it's only the freebie version that came with the GPSr. Any clue on how to get the Topo from my Mapsource (on the computer) to my GPS and still keep the MetroGuide on it as well (understood, I can only display one at a time). ~Thanks
  16. As soon as I posted this topic I figured that it should have been in the software section, sorry, and thanks.
  17. I'm having a senior's moment and cannot figure out how do make my Garmin 60CS display my Topo Canada V2 software vice the current Metro Guide V4. Any help? Switching the views in the Mapsource sotware is no problem, but does the Garmin 60Cs have the ability to switch form one Mapsource product to the other? ~Thanks
  18. ...Too bad that our 60CS only allows a 30 character input for "NOTES" . Having the entire "hint" displayed would be sweet.
  19. Considered a "lazy lurker"; more of a leech I figure. Feel like pouncing into a few discussions sometimes but by the time I get up to it I change my mind. I like the forums, but since I still wear my price tag (I'm that "new") I prefer to read rather than type and learn the sport a bit from others.
  20. Check out Geocache Army and see if that will keep that soldier from being AWOL!
  21. -How true this is... It's a matter of time before everybody gets the boot in this sport. What are the actual guidelines for placing (and allowing) caches in parks in the first place? It seems that in order to prevent "cache clashes" the geocaching guidelines need to be updated or clarified a little more. Some people are under the misunderstanding that a "Park Closed" sign is just just for automobiles and not pedestrians. Does this mean that if a bank is "Closed" you can still go in if you don't have any money ? Count me in !
  22. ...see I even messed up posting the quote that I wanted to use. What a freakin' newbie I am. <fire for effect>
  23. Thanks for the info Team Perks. Some of those books have good reviews too; unlike some of the ones that I have looked at. It's this kind of help that makes things go so much smoother than adding more rules. BTW I just put my order in for the Idiot's Guide (I are one...and idiot...not a guide!). Thanks again for the help.
  24. ...more on my last... How about "I spent $500 on a GPSr and don't have a clue how to use it" for a title of a new book...Now somebody just write it! Too many of the books out there dwell on pickingout a GPS, gear and what not; then cram how to use it properly in a few pages. How about some examples of how it's used in the book; a follow through so to speak. Hell I'll even settle for a good avi or mpg if somebody can put it out there. This (GPS TV) is at least a good attempt (excuse the plug made by the website at the end... I ain't got nuttin' to do with them...)
