  1. It is scary to get lost. Keeping two kids calm at the same time is even harder. The thing I learned the most was to set a car waypoint on my iPhone app, and always carry tune juice with extra batteries. You can get lost urban caching too. With two scared kids, a dead iPhone and no idea where I parked I waited till the sun set; the full moon rose; and followed the shine off the lake I previously couldn't see. 10 minutes and we were at the vehicle. That taught me enough not to make assumptions.
  2. I have cached for a year exclusively with the iphone4 and the official app. It is my choice. We are closing in on 500 finds.
  3. Question 1 244 caches Question 2 14 Question 3 8.6
  4. I purchased some geocoins from an approved international retailer. I didn't want to activate them, so I just entered their # to ensure. Two were inactivated one was. I grabbed the activated one into my hands; I had the coin after all. I emailed the shop owner and the owner of record to please adopt it over to me. Never heard back from owner on record. Even after multiple emails. The shipowner replied immediately that they don't sell used items and would fix it right away. Waited a few weeks. Emailed shopowner again. They told me factory must have printed same number twice. To throw the coin in my possession away and they would resend one. That's where it officially sits. My question though is how do I get the coin out of my possession and back into the owner on records possession. Remember I grabbed it way back when. Do I wait until he realizes its not there anymore and comes after me? Is there a way to replace it to his ownership? What or how do I do it?

  7. How do I get maps fir the Oregon 550 for Canada and US without paying Garmins $$$$$? Failing that what are the best maps to get?
  8. Thanks I'll see if that works
  9. I bought a Oregon 550 from a person in the States. I can't figure out how to get it from imperial (feet) to metric. Is there a way? Thanks
  10. Have you changed phone cases? I did once and my accuracy went down dramatically. Did you check the bench thoroughly ? The size may have been a mistake
  11. His wife was a fantastic scrapbooker, and has many utube videos on doing projects. It's hit that board quite hard. I would hate for a geocacher to stumble on him.
  12. Me too, then the trackable is long gone and I don't have the numbers to upload.
  13. Someone want to pm me the M word, I thought PT were the banned word.
  14. My daughter and I went and found the oldest cache in Alberta a week ago. That's old news. But it was so exciting. It's in a park of fair porportions. I had wanted to turn two new travelbugs loose in the oldest and I believe second oldest cache. I did in the second oldest. Then we found out mud is as slippery or slipprier than ice. The park locks it's gates at 4:30. So we had to move parking. Drove around to a side range road and parked and decided to bushwhack and animal trail to one of the human trails. We found one, we found another, and DD says let's keep going for the oldest. Then I realize that my brand new tb is sitting in the vehicle. Cry. We went And found Strathcona Wilderness 1. What an awesome feeling. What should we find in it but our first ever Canada geocoin. That just makes it all the more special. I think your Mom will be going on a caching run and knows she won't be back to late. The milestone is her number of posts on message board.
  15. Did you post the pics you took at the event somewhere?
  16. Thought it was neat to go out yesterday and find the two oldest caches in Alberta. Fantastic to see those really little GC numbers. DD was so excited. The park they are in is awesome. All in all a great day 19 finds and 2 DNFS
