thanks everyone i downloaded the latest firmware update. i purchased mapsend direct route on the e site. i looked at the sale page and it isn't clear what version but states it is new in box. i priced it last dec and it was running about 76-79 at its cheapest and i bought for 62 plus shipping. i am tired of the vague basemap. cotati i love my merigold and really hope magellan does not get out of the handhed gps business. i really don't want to learn another setup. i find i get to the same place as others with more expensive units newer units. my caching buddy has a new garmin and we pretty much agree..most of the time.

the last couple of weeks i have been having problems running pocket queries. i have to run it several times before i finally get a copy in my email. is there something new i am not seeing.

i had this discussion with other cachers this weekend. i don't know if i will ever produce my own personal coin. my caching buddy wants to do a joint one for trades. i like handpainting mine, though i am very behind in doing anything since my mom has been going in and out of the hospital. but if i had the numbers i could make them and number them at my own pace, place them or trade for other sigs i want. my designs are always simple and always have the "Q" cat with the letterman geo. i'm with jsam i think i would rather do this route..i guess we won't know what can happen if we don't ask tptb

i think sportrak and meri's use same mapping? hum i will check for updates and i found a great price on ebay for the mapsend dvd new in box. thanks for the quick reply now i feel more comfortable buying the software and looking for firmware upgrades is something i didn't think about.

pez are you talking gps working with a pda or the units that are combos? i use a palm and merigold my caching partner a palm and new garmin 76csx.

i have been using my merigold wihout the map software. bought my unit without. does it really enhance the pre-loaded basemap? any advice would be appreciated.

thanks for the info on the invisishield. just got one for my magellan and my palm. i have a hard time with glare on some of the cases, my caching buddy uses one on his garmin so i think trying the shield will work best for me.

Ticks will sometimes explode when set on fire..... hehe..yes they will. i want to make sure they are dead. i was in the same area i got them and tossing them. we have them up and down the valley and foothills. alas..no safe zone. even have found them in town in our alley before.

from sacramento here..they are bad this year took bella my gsd and we went to spenceville. walking through the grass i looked down and they were all over my jeans. i started doing the not so happy dance..took me three days to find them hiding in my gsd's coat those that tried to bite her died from the advantage. pulled several off me on drive home i didn't see at first. rolling down the window and throwing ticks out. yikes..
