  1. HI there; I have an older Garmin Etrex Summit that I received for the kids to use. It does work. But I can not download any files from Map Source. I was able to update the Legend to the latest version . So the cord does work.

I also updated mapsource to the latest version ( it does not matter what version of map source, tried with both version ). Map source does see the unit I have and will upload files to it.

I have the proper setting in the unit , I hope.

    interface is set to "Garmin"

    gps -- Normal

    software -- version 3.70

any ideas on why I can not upload from mapsource to the unit?

thanks in advance for any info.

  2. If you were traveling in Canada, where would you find this sign?

It is on the Bella Coola Hill. It marks the spot where the two cats touched blades, opening up the road to Bella Coola.

  3. close enough,

Why does the Prime Meridian go through Greenwich, England? It could be anywhere, but in the mid-1800s the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, England was well known for keeping time, and because the time is the same all along that line of longitude, it was decided that the Prime Meridian would go through Greenwich.

  4. Did a little more researching here and found this ;

    Rainbow Range

Location: A compact range located 15 km north of the Bella Coola highway in Tweedsmuir Park. Not to be confused with the other Rainbow Range in the Rockies, which is the Robson massif.

    Mystery solved I believe.

Hope this clears up the confusion, Learned some thing new today too. :-)

Mount Robson is the most prominent mountain in North America's Rocky Mountain range; it is also the highest point in the Canadian Rockies. The mountain is located entirely within Mount Robson Provincial Park of British Columbia, and is part of the Rainbow Range. It is commonly thought to be the highest point in B.C., but that distinction is held by Mount Fairweather at 4,663 m (15,299 ft). Mount Robson is the second highest peak entirely in British Columbia, behind Mount Waddington.

I agree too , Maybe the Wikipedia is mistaken :anitongue:

I was always under the impression the Rainbow range was out Bella Coola Area too.

    Mount Waddington

    Not sure what to say??

  6. Mount Robson, In BC and can be seen from the highway that takes you from Jasper to Tete Jaune Cache. Traveled many time but no idea of the number. Mount Robson is not really in the Rockie's, It is part of The Rainbow range. For height, Tallest one for sure!

  7. What is the Geological significance of 100 Palladium Drive?

That's where an NHL team was buried and preserved in the stratigraphic record because they couldn't make the playoffs.

OK, my real guess, is that where they quarried for the Nepean Sandstone that lines the outside of the Parliament building?

    Toronto? :)

  8. " which really made trouble when trying to make

trains meet their scheduled arrival times many years ago"

Darn train question! Never could figure them out in school and after a bit never really cared if they ever did meet! lol

  9. I have the same unit. Its pretty easy once you get the hang of it. The only this is that if you want to put in the cache number, it only will except 6 digits. Most cache's are 7 digits. Besides that, it works pretty good.

I'm waiting on my cable to arrive so I will be able to download from the web. If you don't have a 9 point serial port on your computer you'll need a USB Serial Converter. The cable cost $60 at garmin but you can get a better deal else where, like auction sights.

Paid under $30 at "the sorurce" for the cable.

  10. I have almost the same problem with Garmin Etrax legend. If I download a map onto the unit and then add another later on, the original map is gone.

I might of changed a setting somewhere, sometime when I was looking at all the features also. <_<
