  1. All of the above, plus I can cache when I want, and do the caches I want to do. Love the freedom of choice.
  2. Do you mean after you highlight the waypoint(cache) you want and press enter and then "go to" the word "found" does not appear in the bottom left along with "note" and "stop" to the bottom center and right of the screen?
  3. Please, no ads again for premium members. It's why I pay for XM radio.
  4. I've found the clipboard gimmick works well. It seems to cause instant credibility. Once in a while, however, I've been accused of planning to put condos in a park, or tear up a playground, or whatever.
  5. I haven't. It works fine for me with IE7 and Vista.
  6. I have found that moving the map with the arrows in the upper left, rather than clicking and dragging, the new map will not request geocaches. Click and drag the slightest bit in the new map and it will request the caches.
  7. They work for me on IE7 and Vista.
  8. If you have Mapsource in an up-to-date version, you can right-click on any place on the map, click on "get nearby caches on geocaching.com" and get a list of the nearby caches. Not all the info you want, but a good starting place.
  9. Nah, never lost. I always know what state or province I'm in. Well, okay, usually, anyway.
  10. Really fast for me right now, AND I don't have to keep clicking on the "hide my finds" box on the Google map. It "remembers" as you move around.
  11. Often doesn't work with "correct code". Is that right? What odds are you offering on that? I quite honestly believe that there are those who'd rather wank and whine about Microsoft than oh ...uh...Geocache or maybe even shop at Wal-Mart. By any legitimate measure, writing software for general use that does not work well with Microsoft is a gigantic losing proposition. Brings to mind a little saying that my old boss used to say: "There is little comfort or success in being Dead Right" There is this irrational "I hate Microsoft" religion. When you consider how many different PC/software configurations exist, it is pretty amazing how well it does work. A couple of other old sayings: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Change for the sake of change."
  12. To delete an unwanted bookmark list, you must first delete all the caches in the list using the edit function. Then you use the edit function to "archive" the listing. At least, that's the way I do it.
  13. Vista working just fine.
  14. Garmin etrex on sale at Canadian Tire.
  15. To me, the beauty of geocaching is the choice to do as you wish regarding finding caches. Having said that, I wouldn't do that one.
  16. It's working for me, but I guess that doesn't really answer your question.
  17. To me, the best hider is the one who leads you to the most interesting places.
  18. I use GSAK to filter out the caches I am interested in and go to file-print. It condenses the info quite well, depending on the description of the cache. The print dialogue gives you lots of options for logs, decrypting hints, etc.
  19. I used my middle name spelled backwards and attached my first name.
  20. I just looked at your model on Garmin.com and it seems like an upgrade of my 76CS. I use Metroguide North America v6 and it is very detailed for Canada, U. S. and Puerto Rico. Probably there is a newer version by now. I also have Trip and Waypoint Manager. I know of a Garmin World Map program but it doesn't seem to have the detail of Metroguide. I can only download so many maps into my unit, although it will take so many it is really not limiting. I just download the ones I need when I go far afield. For instance, I recently downloaded the entire route maps for I75. These are very detailed. I suggest going to Garmin.com.
  21. My password has less than seven letters and no numbers and it works fine.
  22. Yes, I am all for the K.I.S.S. principle. It can get a bit complicated if you are doing, say, ten waymarks, and trying to remember, or note, all the different logging requirements.
  23. Unfortunately, I also took up pub lunches with my geocaching partners. So far I'm holding even.
  24. I was searching in an urban park with a clipboard and my GPS and a gentleman asked me, "Are you planning on turning this park into condo's?" I was tempted to say, "The bulldozers are coming tomorrow." I gave him a reassuring answer but he still looked skeptical.
