  1. If he's not using Google Maps, but rather, GOOGLE EARTH, he may be having problems because of the terrain. When terrain is added to the view, I find that the longitude and latitude have accuracy problems (especially with the Google Earth Geocaching component). If I change views, the geocaches will jump around on the map. They show up in different places with every view. Tell him to turn off the "terain" layer, and that may help him get a more consistent view.
  2. Right now, no GPS company has a lot of official support for the Mac. However, if you get a Garmin GPS, there are quite a few Mac programs that people have written to communicate with their Garmin GPS units. Secondly, earlier this year Garmin officially announced that they would ramp up their support for the Mac. So, a Garmin GPS is good for you now, and hopefully the experience will be even better if the future. I am a happy Mac user who uses a program called "GPS connect" to load waypoints into my Garmin eTrex Venture.
  3. I seem to be really good at spoting camoed M&M's tubes among foliage by sight really quickly. Now THAT'S a talent.
  4. I, too, am a Mac Cacher. There are quite a few programs for Mac. Go to www.versiontracker.com and search for "gps" and you'll find a bunch of programs. OR, just click here. My favorite app of those is "GPS Connect." It's free, pretty simple, and it works. I believe there's another app there that actually will map out the waypoints you download... I think it's "TopoDraw," but I could be wrong. Hope that helps.
  5. lol. Oh dear lord. I dunno if I could take a full cast of characters. Well, I would just like to thank all of you for this thread. I remain enlightened. I have to admit, before simply thought, "Eh, whatever... it's a freakin' frog with an antennae. Whatever floats their boat." But now that I've read the official signal page, I think she's cool. I love the drawing with signal walking with an orange scarf on. It's great from a design standpoint: Simple and full of joy.
  6. Well, as long as we're going down that road... Yes. I am also a Mac user. I'd drink "single malt scotch," but I have no idea what it is.
  7. lol. Poor El Diablo... I think all these people don't notice that there's multiple pages for this thread... so they just see the bottom of the first page, and think they're adding their post there. Oh well.
  8. Magellan users smell funny, too. heh. I's jus' kiddin'. I don't know nearly enough about GPS units to even begin to have an opinion on which is better. Except for bright yellow ones. The yellow ones are always way better. I prefer Pepsi. It's sweeter. I like it that way. Sweet.
  9. heh. I was talking about buying a Garmin. Hey, if it's good enough for people in the jungle, it's good enough for me. I actually saw this commercial. The Duracell ads are some of the weirdest ever. Did anybody see that one where they use a Zoll (sp?) Defribulator to save some high-school basketball player's life? That' just morbid.
  10. Whoa.... heh... That IS creepy. If I lived on the east coast, I'd do it.... preferably with a gal scared-out-of-her-wits and clinging to my side.
  11. Heh. They're probably too busy advancing science to ever go Geocaching. Hope they get out and about often. Yiasou!
  12. So I take it by buying a simple Garmin eTrex on a whim simply so I could go GeoCaching WASN'T a bad decision?
