  1. O.K. I finally got a call back from the police on this case. Yes, it was my cache that was found. When they opened it up, they found my log page and one of their Sergeants was a geocacher a year or so ago and recognized it at that point as being a cache. They are not going to proscecute because no law was broken. Disneyland doesn't want any caches in their parks. The PD says Disneyland still has the option to pursue civil charges, but he doesn't think they will. Whew !!!!!!!!!!I have learned a lot from this experience. Ask permission, write www.geocaching.com on the outside, and thirdly...ask permission. This should be the end of my saga. I will post again if anything changes. 4forfun
  2. Phone Home was my cache, but I have permanently archived it. I have phoned back the detective from Anaheim PD but apparently he was gone for the weekend because he has not returned my call. I did not ever seek Disneys approval to place the cache and am sorry that my cache caused problems for the police, Disneyland, and any park guests. I am very glad that this story wasn't blown out of proportion by the media and that it hasn't given Geocaching a bad name. It was my mistake for not gaining permission or labeling the newly replaced cache on the outside with www.geocaching.com like I have with most other caches. The cache was there for 1 1/2 years without any problems. I am against anyone boycotting Disney because they had problems with the cache. Apparently they thought it could be a bomb and responded in the safest way possible for all guests/employees of the park. Time will tell what happens. I will place updates here in case you want to follow the story to the end. 4forfun
  3. Is there a way that once I see a listing of all the caches a certain person has hidden (Otis Pug) I can get the mileage as to which one is closest to me, like when you enter a zip code to see which one is closest. This guy has over 45 caches hidden and it would take a long time to pull it up, look at the map, etc. Maybe the city a cache is placed in could be added to the name of a cache. That way I could just scroll through his 45 caches and see which city is closest. Thanks
  4. We have the yellow Garmin ETREX. It was only 79 dollars and has never given us any problems and we have found all our caches. It doesn't have map functions or anything fancy, but we didn't buy it for that.
  5. My wife and I were wondering where the most caches in a square mile were. We guessed that Central Park in NY would be because there aren't a lot of plants elsewhere in the area, and the population of the area is huge. Does anyone know an area that could beat it? I show 32 caches that can be identified simultaneously in the Central Park.
