  1. I know this is a little late, but I don't get a chance to read the forums much anymore due to being a full time student and working. I thought I would plug my Mt. Higgins cache if your looking for a good a hike with a great view. Iron Wolf
  2. My first 2 caches were done with my brother denalinw (the day he introduced me to the game) and I let my daughter make all the exchanges. If she still has the stuff...well who knows. As for my first official cache on my own was Spencer Is Summer Daze. I took a ceramic wolf, which I thought was ironic that my first find on my own had a wolf in it due to my geocache name. I still have it and it sits on my computer .
  3. I tried this thread in the general forums, but did not get much of a response. Hopefully my fellow North Westerners will be more responsive. There's got to be more stories like mine. Recently I was looking at the list of all my finds and reminiscing. I came across my list of finds that I did this last summer down in California (I live in Marysville, Washington). When I came across "MIL-AVI-HIST" by USAFRSQ, that I had found, I remembered that I new that user name from somewhere. Then it donned on me that USAFRSQ helped my 2 Travel Bugs (TB’s). One of which, USAFRSQ actually got the TB to complete his goal. So I thought, wow, we really do live in a small world. Who new that after I found one of his caches (that was 2 states away from where I live) that months later 2 of my TB’s would end up in his hands. Anyways I just thought it was cool and was wondering if anything like this has ever happened to my fellow NW geocachers? I mean it’s one thing to see a user name all the time, of some one who lives in the same state and caches in your area. But what I’m talking about is when you come across a name that you never thought you’d see again because they live so far away. I was interested to see if anyone had a story like mine?
  4. Well that's cool. Does anybody else have any stories to share?

  6. I am still curently in the US Navy. I have spent 7 years of active duty and now am on my 5th year of reserve duty. All of which as a Seabee (We build, we fight). After 12 years I wouln't change it for the world. Hell, some of the land navigation skills I have learned over the years helped me to find my first couple of caches without a GPS (Map & Compass Only). That is quite the challenge. For those who don't know what a Seabee is we are the construction force for the Navy. We were designed for Marine support and there is nothing we can't build. Not to mention we're pretty darn good combatins . If you would like to know more about the Seabees check out this site. Iron Wolf
  7. I am going to be down in Lemoore, CA from October 26th to November 7th on business. I'll be coming from Washington. Depending on my schedule I'm hoping to hit some Geocaches while I'm there. Can anyone recomend some good caches? I like caches with some challenge. A well thought out multi cache would be nice. I also like caches that have some hiking involved. Although I grew up in the Bay Area, I have never spent much time in this area. I would like to visit some of your more memorable caches I would love to hear from cachers in this area. Iron Wolf
  8. I am also a gun owner and do not have a problem with people who own them. Something that I think that has been over looked, is that park rangers find these caches all the time. To some instances the park has banned all caching. That is why the the WSGA came about. Imagine if a park ranger came across a cache with ammunition in it. I think the sport of geocaching would be in a world of hurt. Not to mention the cache owner.
  9. I actually have five travel bugs that need to head east. Most of these are still here in the local area. I will e-mail some of the holders to see if they would be willing to get them to you. The bugs are POWERLIFTN' DON, PRO PILOT DON, RAPH THE SPACE CADET, RAPPIN' MIKE, SHELL KICKN' RAPH. SHELL KICKIN' RAPH is the only one in a cache if you wanted to find him. Thanks Iron Wolf

  11. I am very interested in this, but unfortuantely I can not attend this weekend. I would love to be informed of the results of the meeting. Iron Wolf
  12. Click Here I just answered this same question a couple of days ago. Be sure to read my log and the one below it. Iron Wolf [This message was edited by Iron Wolf on September 01, 2002 at 06:33 PM.]
  13. You need to go to the page of your new cache and click on log your visit. Then click post a note. Leave a little note as if you were making a log entry. Such as, "I placed Joe travel bug in the container." Right under the log area there should be a box that says "if you left a traveller from your inventory, select here." Click the button and look for your travel bug. Once you have selected your travel bug click to log your visit. That will post your travel bug on your new cache page. I hope this helps Iron Wolf
  14. As far as Ranger Dick goes, I beleive this person is a looooooser.....end of story ! I guess we'll know more after the scheduled meeting with Duke_ and the regional manager. Moun10bike if you start the club, I'm in. Just curious would the presidency be based on most caches found ? If so I think your a shoe in . Iron Wolf

  16. The first one I was unable to find was my 6th try, but that was because I was using a map and compass. After I could afford a GPS, I've gone 30 hits before not being able to find one. Funny this pole came out because the one I couldn't find was the last one I attempted on Sunday. Iron Wolf

  18. I would Like to congratulate Fab4 for being the first one to make it to the top of our Mount Higgins Cache. I would also like to give a very big high five for his perseverance and another high five for making it in 2 hours. Your an animal Fab4. Finally I guess a little advertising on the forums doesn't hurt. Can anyone else beat Fab4's two hours? Again congratulations Fab4 Iron Wolf

  20. Any kind of cache will be fine rating wise. Some easy ones that are a lot of fun, or even the multi puzzle cache's. My brother and I are not picky.
  21. This Thanksgiving I will be down with my brother DenaliNW in the Danville area and want some sugestions on some really memorable caches.
  22. I have hidden a cache at the look out of Mt Higgins. The Cache is difficult due to the nature of the hike. I'm just curious as to why no one has attempted it yet. Doesn't anyone like to get out and hike anymore? Or does this just look to difficult? Mount Higgins Cache
