  1. Like the others have said, don't give up. I don't know if you have tried this, but while on a cache page, click on the actual map and it will change to a close up and give you an option for satellite view. Zoom all the way in and you will usually get a close view of where you need to go (unless it is all woods). Always check a cache listing prior to going out in the event it has been taken off line since the time you down loaded it. I have down loaded caches in advance and then not attempt them for a while only to find out it has been archived.I have also gone out with friends to sites they have been to before only to have them say it is missing, but to find out later it has been moved nearby, they had the old coordinates and I had the new. Before you know it you will always be thinking geo-caching. My folks just moved into a new house yesterday and couldn't find a few key boxes. Today, after helping them look through boxes in the garage, I was getting ready to leave and looked up at their car. I asked my dad for his keys to his trunk, and there they were. It's kind of that way once you have been doing it for a while. If you go out with someone, when you get close to ground zero, let your eyes do the work not the gps, or the other person will probably find it first. The key thing is to have fun. More times than not, the cache site is only a small part of the actual award. Enjoy the surroundings, the views, the plant and tree life, and or the structure of the guardrail, lamp post.... DaddyA
  2. Hey DaddyA...Did ya notice the nearly complete lack of Magellan accessories compared to the Garmin line? What Sportsman's Warehouse did you visit? I visited the relitively new store in Burlington, WA. I really didn't look at accessories since I am not ready to make a decission yet. I am considering the new Vista because of the good reviews and its price, and the fact it is available. It is hard to believe that there is no reviews available for the Triton 2000 yet, by anyone, and we are in December now. As a consumer interested in a new product, all of the information that has been shared here (good and bad) has been helpful. The one thing that concerns me about the new Triton 2000 is the short battery life expectation. The Vista I believe is up to 30 hours compared to 8 to 10 in warm weather for the Trition. I guess anything we say right now about the 2000 is speculation since no one has used one yet? For now I will continue to use my etrex Legend and use my geo-senses when in deep woods and have fun looking! DaddyA
  3. I visited Sportsman's Warehouse today who had the new Triton Series advertised in their Day After Thanksgiving flier. When I asked the salesperson behind the GPS counter he frowned at me. He stated that supposedly some of their stores got some but they were incomplete with cords missing, manuals, etc... He didn't suggest buying it for a while until the bugs were worked out. I know I won't be forking out the money for one until I see good reviews, and the things are proven to work. I will keep on using my etrex Legend and be patient. Plus I will have more time to save up for all the accessories! DaddyA
  4. The Sportsman's Warehouse flyer for day after Thansgiving has the Triton Series advertised with the 2000 photographed with prices ranging from $149 - $499. I work near their new store in Burlington, WA, so I will have to check it out? DaddyA
