  1. As others have mentioned you play this game by your own rules, I do one or 2 a day normally, the most I have ever done in one day is 20 , this was on a power trail in Melbourne which was about 3 hours worth, and I was getting a little bored, but it was getting my numbers up. some have done all the PT in one day but I have only done 70% over 4 days and will complete when I am back down there. I take about an hour out of my day for a bit of fun, some are drive by's, some are multi's, some are puzzles, some are a long walk, depends on how I feel. some day I can't be bothered but most days I do because I enjoy it.I enjoy streaking more than the bulking up my numbers. I am nearing my 900th and have done nearly 100 in the last 50 days, and have only been caching just over 18 months, its what "I" choose to do and how "I" choose to do it. I have friends who have done less than 50 in 3 years, they only do it when they are on holidays, it really is up to you, don't sweat about the numbers they will come with time. , power trails are a good way to up your numbers but they get numbing. I have a PT and have people doing 4 -5 caches once a week to complete them, others push to finish it in one day, others do 1 a week. who cares how you do it, its what you do with it that makes it yours. I am in Sydney as well. you might say this post is all about ME - well isn't your caching all about you! remember life comes in "can"s, you just need to find the I'CAN
  2. I had a streak of 112 days and was broken by not finding one very late at night after a 12 hour day at work and another meeting in the evening, when i went back to the same one 3 days later and I found it in seconds, I was just too tired to see it. Glad I did it, Glad its over. BUT I decided to set up some streak caches as there were none in my part of the world, and so not to discriminate they range from 10 - 100 days, you can do them all or just do one, I don't care as long as you have done the required days. From the logs I have had some who don't want to do streaks, but have done a small streak, some who struggle to make it, some who breeze it in, some with over 1000 days and some who had family commitments which caused them grief. 90% of those who have done 100 days have stopped just after, some continue and some were on the streak a long time before the challenge went out. It is a relief when it ends, it does suck the enjoyment out of it but it is enjoyable at the same time, I covered about 10000 kms to do my 100 days, with flights all across the country (it is a big country) and it forced me outdoors to see new things. I still streak, but I am not worried if it all ends, I usually only grab one or 2 a day anyway as a big day of 10 + gets to be a chore as well for me, unless they are nicely placed. I enjoy the game for the hunt and find, if you find yourself the hunted (or haunted) time to give it away.
  3. I stopped at 112 days when I couldn't find a 1.5 cache at 11.30 at night, it was starting to become a chore and I actually stopped caching for 2 months after, I have set up a challenge cache (well 10) for those who wish to do the streak thing but I also respect those who don't do it, remember it is your game, played by your own rules and in your own way. It is a relief when you stop, as you are not forced to go out and get one when you don't want to, or when the weather is bad. it actually feels good not to get one.... did i just say that? I do mini streaks now up to 20 days at a time as my work allows me to do it, but I am not stressed if I don't continue them and the enjoyment has come back to caching. Play it your way, Play it for fun, Play on your own timeline, and keep your integrity! not to mention your sanity!
  4. SIGH...... life is full of disappointments....... BTW I think fishing is silly but that doesn't make me want to hassle people who do it! Geocaching is silly too if you really think about it....think i will just a deep breath and move on..... just takes the gloss off a bit......... thanks, I am leaving this thread t run it course.
  5. I can live with the fact that people cheat, it is human nature that we all cheat at something, I personally don't go out of my way to cheat myself as then "I" know I haven't achieved whatever goal I have set, and the victory of achieving the goal is then somewhat hollow, to me its about the journey not the goal, as you can always "win" a game by cheating but much more satisfying to achieve it without cheating. BUT it takes all sorts I suppose, others in my area know about the cheating so they are only really damaging there reputation in the local caching community
  6. Thank to every one for replying, I am in two minds about it, I know (and have proof) of around 20 - 25 dates that have been changed, not just 1 or 2, I am sorry for them that they may do this, why play the game if you have to cheat so bad?? As for those that think it is a silly idea to have a challenge of this nature , we all play the game in different ways, some play the most caches on one day, others do fastest hundreds, some like power trails, other are fascinated by the TBs ,I like to plod and generally don't do more than 3 -4 a day, so streaking is a game I play. I understood that this may happen but didn't expect it to be so blatant. I may just let them log and then just drop the proof on the cache page for all to see.
  7. HI all I have several challenge cache's out for # of day streak's and have read on forums that some people may change their stats to be able to claim a cache which is streak orientated , Is there any way that I can confirm that the streak is legit and they haven't just changed their stats just to claim the cache? I have an opinion of people who would do this and the question is "Why cheat on yourself?"
  8. A couple of ways, use a program like easygps, Gsak, these work well with premium membership as you can send bulk via a query, else just click on the send to GPS button on the page individually once you have your GPS plugged in and recognized, I have one of these and I find I also have to print out the cache notes just to make sure it is the cache i want to grab as only the cache code is in the GPS no hints or logs. Also use geocache navigator on my Black berry - use this most of the time and use the etrex for multi's or to check the phone coordinates when placing caches or checking coords.
  9. same has been down for 3 days now, glad I am not on a streak at the moment would be real narky at that
  10. Just started to work out how to use my GPS properly, am now so addicted have almost done 100 days in a row, only been caching for 126 days, wife has been with me and cant understand it, so I don't take her, travel all over Aus spend time in hotels, as mentioned before gets you out, the challenge, finding new places and of course makes some friends, although only ever seen one other cacher at a cache.
