I have decided to thin the herd on my collection, most of my coins are 5-10 years old and unactivated GC.com trackables. I would prefer to sell in batches with the second batch being general coins (I think 62 coins and trackable tags in this batch):

My problem is, i never think to look for messages. I realize that i can get used to it but i don't feel there is a need to. There are already good ways to get my attention if need be. I'd rather have a way to turn the feature off. At the same time, it would need to let people know on the other end, that i'm not accepting this form of communication.
There is another site i utilize that has this feature. I've had messages sent that i didn't notice for months. When i did finally get back with the person, they thought i i didn't care or that i was just ignoring them. There was one time where it caused hurt feelings on the other end. I don't do social sites and i'm definitely not into the texting fad. If you have my number, call me. If not, email me,,, It's just that easy!
I completely agree with Mudfrog, and I really do not need another way to ignore the herd. I think a better solution would be to allow us to designate within our profile our contact methods

If you can get out to Oregon, I highly recommend GC17. It is close to the original stash and another oldie GC12. At this time of the year, it probably will not be available again until May or June due to snow and most people do it in conjunction with a trip to the lilypad in Seattle for a blockparty in the summer. The hike is nice with wonderful views of Mt Hood.

re: OregonSAGA web site
Your web site appears to be in Japanese and has a picture of a cute doggy.
Are you still around?
They moved to Facebook

Looks like the owner just dumped the coords in the ocean.
Yes, the cache may actually be moving. I was in contact with a couple of cachers and it should be in the wild again sometime this year!!! whoo hoo.
I needed a holding place for the cache so people won't go looking and get disappointed; so i normally dump it about 100 miles from land. Although, I used to be a submarine officer and it did go submerged for a month or so with a buddy.
-
Wow, it is strange to see two of my caches listed in the same forum; one rated too high and one rated too low. For the keep it moving cache - this cache has been everywhere. From submerged hides requiring scuda gear, to near the top of Mt Fuji (I took it to both places myself) and if you really want to get into difficulty try to figure out where pablomac left it. This can certainly rate a 5/5... difficulty five as you have to catch it and terrain five as it can be anywhere.
Yes it does get old that it mostly gets passed from person to person at events and i have been it correspondence with the recent finders to get it back out in the field and to "keep it moving". But it is only a game, which is my primary philosophy for geocaching, and people like playing with what is unique. There are several other moving caches around so go find one if you like...I currently know of one about 10 miles from my house that is waiting to find a park.
But if you are concerned that "Keep it Moving" is overrated for D/T and has become pocket lint, get off the computer and go find a cache...I would recommend GC17 as it is a beautiful hike and only rated 1/2.5.

There have already been a few oregon geocoins...shoot me a email with an address and i will see what I have
-
I recently upgraded to IE9, and now when trying to modify a PQ for caches along a route, the sliders are missing for "search radius" (distance to either side of track) and "show me" (total caches shown). I am basically ending up with PQ showing only 1 cache.
-
It's also possible that the cache owner is still maintaining the caches.
Or that the cache owner is now caching under a new name
-
I am lucky to live in Oregon and have done GC12, GC16, GC17 (which I adopted in 2007) plus been to the sites of Dave ulmer's first two caches.

Hi!
I am looking for bottleopenercoins if there are any. I know about the rot-13 Geocoinclubcoin but I have in mind there are others also. If anyone feel like trade me for one I should be happy to do so. I am trying to drag another one down the coinruin, no, I mean I am trying to help a friend find one.
Anyone out there with info? Pleasse answer here or in email.
Thanks ahead!

I was doing a few handmade in various shapes

Just getting into geocoin collecting and would like to start with these two:
Baileys Nippon
Japan Geocoin (the one with the sun rays and the two koi on the back)
sorry if they have more legit names, new to this, saw some pics and love them both and would like to own them. Get in touch if you're willing to sell them as I don't have any gecoins to trade.
email sent on the Baileys Nippon

No amount of petitioning will bring back the network KML
Petitioning may not work but $ talk and this is one reason for me to not renew my membership.

Hello all. I'm following the suggestion Eartha offered and making a post here for my handmade coins. I'm curious to see what everybody thinks of my work and trades might be considered. Below is the link to where I have posted the pics...I still can't get an image to work here.
At the top center of the page is our email address if you might have any questions, comments, inquiries.
*** Click on the pics to see a larger view, but note the larger views are a bit fuzzy. The actual pieces are very crisp, the inserted prints were ran off at 600 dpi.
Thank you,
SeaNare

People have listed nearly a million caches here without a problem or complaint.
....It's all about your attitude and how you respond to simple requests that the overwhelming majority of geocachers comply with without complaint.
Huh? What game are you playing that has not had a problem or complaint?
What is truely amazing is how few complaints there are. The reviewers have a tough time and need enough information about your cache to make a decision on posting it. The more complex or unusual the cache is, the more information they will need. The easiest answer can be to post a detailed note to the reviewers when you create you cache listing. It's a little more work up front that can save time later, although the cache may still be disapproved if it does not meet placement guidelines.

Right now I am having trouble with one of the ones that did have the paper with it. When I got the code and tried to activate it, the geocaching.com page won't advance past the first step. The other coin I just did worked fine.
The other two are a 2006 DNF smiley and a 2006 Geocaching: Not Another Mircro...those I am still trying to find out where they are from. They aren't from Oakcoins like the other two.
The not another micro should be oakcoins (http://www.oakcoins.com/activate/num.htm), the DNF I did not think was trackable...does it have a 6 digit code on it or just a 3 digit serial number?

You start to see why some other options like pathtags (50 for about $100) are becomming more popular and why so geocachers do pre-orders to judge demand for their coins. It seems like you have to be fairly well established in the game to do a coin on your own or at least with your own money.
I have been involved in several different batches of coins. My first 2 coins were not trackable and cost about $350 per 100 coins including dies. The next batch should have been cheaper except the manufacturer (in Korea) had issues and I had to go with a new vendor (in China, and new dies) for about $550 for 100 trackable.
For the local geocaching group the first batch was about $2.80/coin untrackable dropping to $1.67/coin for the second/third batch. At this price, several showed up in local caches, but most were bought as traders. My past few coins I have worked directly with manufacturers in china...not something I recommend unless you are willing to live with possible problems.
For my latest batch i went low cost trackable (see TB2VAY0)...I bought tracking codes from Groundspeak for $1.50/each and I am hand creating them from brass or aluminum stock (although low melting point allows like cerotru are a good option). This last coin is turning out to be the most fun and the lowest initial outlay. $150 for 100 codes, $9 for Al stock, and $5 for a set of letter punches from harbor freight (I already had a dremal tool and engraving bits). The nice thing about this option is: In less then a week I went from concept to coin in hand with tracking numbers; I can go non-trackable SI for under $0.25 and produce them at a rate of about 5/hr; I can change design easily (Groundspeak design approval is not difficult and they have already approved 4 different designs); or if one goes missing from a cache I can always re-use the number.
A few year back, people complained about coins costing over $5, now $8-10+ seems the norm. I wanted a low cost option as very few caches seem to rate a $8-$10 trade item. Alternatively, if you are concerned of cost and want a small batch then think of other items that could be made as signature items. If you want trackable, then engrave or attach a TB/coin tracking number.

It's showing a generic icon???
-
How about Groundtalk.com (which only sells tracking numbers for offensive geocoins and only allows posts which contain flaming) ?
I like this idea...but how about groundtalk.gs?
-
Sorry, I was looking at the initial objective "a united effort to improve the guidelines, FAQ, rules and ethics of Geocoining." That looks like part of the game to me.
Is the real issue the market for geocoins? There has been a lot of questionable products for a while and where you have money being exchanged you will attract questionable persons. It will be difficult for the initial objectives as stated to resolve either of these.
