  1. Back in country the beginning of Sept so whatever suits you much appreciated
  2. Hi fellow Geocachers, although really I use this term loosely when referring to myself. I started in June and am great at getting to the location of the cache I'm after, I just seem to be completely blind when finding the caches or not as the case seems to be. I have even visited one cache 7 times and still cant see it despite everyone logging it was a nice easy fast find ! Strong determined Scottish lady giving up I dont think so at least not jsut yet. Well Im off driving across europe for 6 ish weeks tomorrow ending up in Turkey for my daughters wedding. So perhaps I'll find some cache on route. I was wondering if anyone in the London area would be willing to buddy up with me one Sat or Sun in September so that I could perhaps learn something on a practical level? I'm happy to bring TBs or Geocoins since I've started to buy them and am desperate to drop them off in caches.I'm also happy to pay for a nice pub lunch. Jill
  3. WOW theres what an achievement ! And theres me on 4 and one of them was a return to put a TB in .... lol Dont think I'm too good at this but not giving up yet. Bought the book geocachers for dummies hopefully this will give me some hints and tips.
  4. I have to admit as a newbie dogs is one of teh main reasons I havent done to may caches yet. Most of them in the area where I live are down on the canals where dog owners seem to let there dogs roam without a lead. I have had some bad experiences as a child with dogs and try not to be too nervous around them but always end up going in the opposite direction even if it means walking miles out of my way. Hence I thin come September when I return from holiday I will be looking for a buddy to cache with.
  5. When I found my first cache last month a police man called at me to come away from the item in question (dont want to give to much of a clue)and to stop what I was doing (filling in the log). He was concerned I was defacing (vandalising) but a quick flash of the cache and an explanation he let me return the item but still didnt seem too pleased. I've become completely paranoid since them and end up aborting my search every time anyone is in the vicinity. As I live in London I'm not going to get much caching done till I get stealthier and braver !
  6. Well done - I assume you were FTF. Was that one in Carlisle?
  7. Is Helen part of anyone else's team? The prize money goes from the winner through to team leaders down to £125. That can be 4 layers of winners. Unfortunately not. We didn't really take it seriously til last night, as I had got sick of looking at GE for cyber ones. To be honest, I thought she was daft thinking a real one would be in Carlisle, but went along with it coz it was a nice morning........oh how my face changed when we saw them, then the obligatory "I told you so" came in a nano-second! Dont know if anyone has anyone near it but I think there is one at Moscomb park in Brighton (gateway to europe)
  8. I'm a newbie but how about taking it back to the original cache it came from or sending it back to the owner (after owning up and emailing) ? You may have split up with your caching partner, and not be the one with the GPS. You may not be in the area of the original cache, or it may be Unavailable or Archived. The Amnesty Service allows you to send it to someone anonymously with out having to make contact with anyone. (Who may well start sending unfriendly emails, once they get their traveller back!) Well Im quite happy for anyone to send them to me and I will return to the next cache I go to in London: Jill Bulgan 15 Broome House Pembury Road London E5 8LL

  13. Hi Everyone, I live in London and am new to geocaching, not very good but enthusiastic and completely hooked. So this weekend I am off around north and east London looking for trackables. Next month my husband and I are off travelling across Europe on our way to Turkey. I am looking for trackables in and around the London area that want to be moved to Europe. I will only take the ones that want to move. Please can everyone give me the names of caches in London that have trackables that we are allowed to take aaway and place elsewhere. I am not asking for clues or help in locating the caches. I am using a Android phone so the app is not great when I am getting the initial cache info to come up and so I am therefore doing my homework before I go out and taking paper copies with me hence the ask for cache names. I have nearly 4 weeks before we leave. I am looking forward to finding my first caches in europe. I am also thinking of leaving a few when I am in Turkey. We go every year to Turkey and my oldest daughter lives there and is getting married there this summer. Any geocachers visiting Turkey during July and August giv eme an email I might see you there. Thanks for any help in advance.
