I like the Tilley Hat idea. Are the hats comfortable? Also is the pocket in the inside top of the hat?

I thought I read before that you should have metal under the antenna to act as a ground plane?

If I cut a piece of sheet metal to the shape of the bill on a ball cap and attach a magnetic mount antenna to it do you think it will work ok? Does the shape of the sheet metal make any difference? I figure it will be about 1/3 moon shape. What do you think? I am trying to come up with some kind of external antenna that will work for me. Something when navigating on foot. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks,

I saw a thread about how newbies make mistakes. I am a newbie and I figured I would wait until I find a dozen or more so I can see how others have hiden them. How about some tips here. List everything but your cords. What your cache is made of, what is in it, size, etc.? Lets here from the pros. The more info the better. Thanks in advance.
