  1. The only time I contacted them was also regarding a username change and everything was done within 10 minutes after my request. Must be a very good reason if you haven't heard from them untill now. Edit: well, there you have it.
  2. No, unless you use a software like maybe GSAK where you can keep track of your FTF.
  3. Here is the thread I was looking for. May be interesting to read. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=112212
  4. I do use ST 2006 and I have an Etrex LegendC. ST 2006 does not support this unit. the Vista beeing also from Garmin, I don't think it will support that unit either.
  5. Have you tried Google Earth, would give you a good idea of what cache are in the area your looking for. You could also be able to see the surroundings.
  6. Remember one thing Randy, it's not because it took someone 30 minutes that it should be rated higher, sometimes it's just because the person is not looking at the right place. One cache was placed in a rock wall with planty of openings. It was rated 1. I went 4 times without finding it. The 5th time, I went with my 26 year old daughter. She found it within 5 minutes. I just wasn't putting my hand in the right place. She did. When your on a cache, don't try to look where you think it should be. Try to see where you as a cacher would hide it. I know that to enjoy going for a cache, you have to take what ever time it takes. Beeing able to decide when it's time to stop searching.
  7. Same as Alen2, I use GSAK and download every cache I want. One by one or by a PQ. Once on the laptop, I can refer to them any time I please.
  8. We usualy cache around a 15 mile area. A lot of caches always poping up every week but if we have to go somewhere, we will usualy see if there aren't any cache where we're going. We are going on a cruise next week in the carribeans and of course, one of our goals is to search for some on the islands we will be visiting.
  9. I think that coming January, there will be the GPSMAP60C and I think I also read about the Etrec LegendC coming out with expandable memory. see here see here
  10. HiHi, I know, I was giving that as an exemple. It's quicker to ask the question then go throught reading the threads.
  11. Wow Randy, take a good breath and relax a bit, this is not the place to pass your frustration First, it seems that there are some aspect of the game you don't seem to understand. First of all, a micro cache is a traditionnal cache if the coordinates brings you directly to the cache. The size of the cache doesn't change the type. You can see the size of the cache on the cache page or cache listings (graphic with red square) . The things that changes the type of the cache is the way to get to the cache. If you have a puzzle to solve to get the coordinates, it will be called a mystery cache. A cache with multiple waypoints will be called a multi cache. You should take time to read the information on Geocache.com regarding the type of cache. Often, micro cache are hidden under a tree branch but if your eyes don't come across it, you'll never see it. As for the difficulty, it doesn't depend if its in the woods or not and if its under heavy trees, the difficulty depends on the terrain. An easy walking flat terrain even if its under heavy tree cover will most likely be set as difficulty one unless you come across water, slops, hills, heavy brushwood or things like that. It also as nothing to do with poor reception. You can have good reception one day and poor the next day. Never the less, normaly a cacher completes a form and the difficulty is set by the questions and the choice of answer given to the cacher. Its not a case of " well, I think I'll give it a two " Take the time it takes and surf throught GC.com. Youll find a lot of answer to ease your frustration. PS: if you expect to find caches under 1 or 2 minutes all the time, better forget Geocaching and try something else. Some cache I had to go back 5 times looking for about 15 to 20 minutes each time before I could put my hands on it. Read the logs carefuly before going on the cache. If every one before you found it and you don't you'r probably doing something wrong. http://www.geocaching.com//about/cache_types.aspx http://www.clayjar.com/gcrs/
  12. Often, people are kinda anxious when they get a new toy and they want to have it working right away, without taking the time to read the instruction book kinda reminds me of someone....................me.............when I was younger of course.
  13. Well, there are many models out there. If you'd let us know what is your price range and what you intend to do with it, maybe we could give you better advice
  14. Often kids will find the cache before their parents. I guess they deserve to log it under their own ID
  15. Never the less, you will need different unlock codes for each unit.

    O No

If you wanna star geocaching and do want them to be identifyed as geocaching waypoints, just change the icone to the gold closed chest so it becomes the default icone.
  17. Now that I used it, couldn't imagine not having CS. Wanna go somewhere, retaurant, store, anything, just punch in the address and it brings me right at the door. I also realized that I often took a route that I thought to be the quickest untill started using CS which showed me other routes shorter and quicker.
  18. CS will give you precise city map details and much more POI. You'll also be able to have auto routing in the citys depending on the GPS you are using. Otherwise, you'll have less details and will only be able to do auto routing on major roads and highways only.
  19. GPS in my hand, lanyard tight around my wrist. When I'm finished with the GPS, it goes right in it's case that I wear around my neck.
  20. Once the download is finished, are you looking in the waypoint menu or geocache menu. If the Geocache Icone is not set as the default icone on your GPS, the waypoints will not show in the Geocache menu but in the waypoints menu. PS: you should try Esay GPS or GSAK as a sotfware
  21. In orer to give you the right answer, I think a little more info on the steps your taking in order to download waypoints are needed. Are you trying to download from mapsource etc..etc
  22. If I remember correctly, you need to get a new unlock code from garmin but this new code won't cost nothing and it will not be taken in account in the two allowed unlock keys per program. Edit: right, free if you got vs6 after vs7 was available.
  23. Just had a look at GCR99Y and it does show as found in your account listing in all caches found by user
  24. Are you sure you entered it correctly when you logged the cache
