  1. Online stores don't have the overhead of a B&M, they might not even keep the product in inventory at a location they're paying rent on and maybe even drop ship. The retailer pays for the product, pays to have it delivered to them, pays to store it until sold, and pays just to unlock the front door in the morning. All those costs must be allocated to the product being sold.
  2. This one comes with the mount, lighter adapter, and street maps. I haven't found any reviews for the iWay on other sites yet. I was just guessing that they're going to come out with a color model or some other upgrade to explain the lowered price.
  3. Well, I just found the iWay for $180, so I went with that for a starter. Hopefully I get it by Fri, so I can try it out this weekend.
  4. Hello, I've got the itch to purchase a GPSr, but I'm not completely clear on what to get. I've done a little snooping online, and I found that I need advice Being on the West Coast for another 1/2 year, I need something different to kill the weekends, and I thought about trying geocaching. (I'll check the appropriate forums for info on that) Beyond that, I'd like a unit that also handles mapping/driving directions. From my looking around, it seems the Garmin Quest and Lowrance iway 100M include street level map CDs and do voice directions, which seems pretty good considering the price points I'm seeing on many models. At least I see the iway has Mapcreate Turn by Turn on this page, but there's no info at the target website, where it's $50 less. The Quest seems to be close to $350 as well. Anyway, I was hoping for a nudge one way or the other, if there's much of a difference. It seems Lowrance is well thought of here (quick search), and the Quest is also recommended, so I'm wondering how the feature sets differentiate them. I don't know if color is that big of a deal. It'd be nice to have, but I'm sure I could get by without it. I don't know how much map data I'd end up carryig around, but the use of SD cards does seem a little more appealing than being bound to internal memory. And as for batteries, if I can really get something like 15 hours out of a charge on the lithium battery on the Quest, that doesn't seem so bad. Just from the looks of them, I think I might be a little worried about damaging the finish of the Quest more than the iway. Other than that, I'm not sure what to look into further.
