About the Visa.. if you planning on going. your visa application can only be submitted right before you go.. I think it is a month.. but you would have to check that for sure. With that you need to submit your passport as well. I was in Brazil in 2005 and we are heading there for a month and a half in May. Hoping to try and find this one, but not sure how much time we will have. We are going to do research and not sure if we will get that way but I will keep you up to date on our adventures.

I am sure this has been discussed, so if I need to be pointed in the right direction... great. We are heading to Brazil in May and would love to try and cache there but the GPS only has a basic map. First, do you think would be enough? Second, where can you get a more detailed map for anywhere in South America? We have a Garmin 60csx and from the garmin site it looks like they don't make south america maps.. any suggestions from other travellors would be greatly appreciated. Amy

I am sure this has been discussed before but HELP, can you place something in 2 categories or should I just pick the best category or do people put them in both? I really appreciate all of the ideas that people submitted, especially with the variables since that is where i was having the most problems. If people wouldn't mind, I would appreciate it if a few people could check it over and make sure my changes are sufficient. I want this to be a great category and further ideas are always welcome. This category will be set up to show towns, monuments, or stuff associated with Guinness world records. What do you think? is this worth a category... Help This will be my first category idea, so any help would be great Amy

I am just wondering if there is a Guiness Book of World Records category or something like it? Over the weekend we found a place that had plaques and such showing were the largest hamburger was made. Thanks. Otherwise I might work on this one...? Not sure if this is where I should have posted this, so if it needs to be moved, please do so!

I am sure this has been discussed before but if someone could help me out that would be WONDERFUL. I understand that Waymarking is a way to deal with locationless caches but do you have to send info to the waymark owner or post pics or is this an honor system (I know they are all to some extent an honor system). But I have looked at the ones in my area and they give a piece of history about the place and no "instruction" so does that mean we just log it if we visit that place? Thanks for letting me know Amy

Howdy I just bought a 60csx and was wondering how many waypoints can be entered on it. I previously had a garmin Legend C and you can put 500 waypoints in that. Anyone have any idea? Thanks for the help

Explorist 400 Rate: 0 Pros: has Expandable memory Cons: Tech support sucks, firmware is weak, file system is awful (5 clicks to get a geocache waypoint entered VS garmin 2 1/2 clicks of legend) Greyscale graphics weak (pixels missing on some areas of the map). sent my 400 back to trade it in for a garmin legend C

thank you all for your help but i'm sending the mageelan back to the shop and trading it in for a garmin etrex legend C. maybe there is a problem with the 400 unit, but i'm not pacient enough to wait for a "fix it up" (firmware, throwing it againt the wall watching it smash to bits, etc ). i had pretty good sucess with my garmin etrex legend in the past, only reason i went with magellan is for routing by turn and i liked the fact that it had a SD card. I found that it is not very user friendly, and the file structure is VERY tidious. magellan would have a real good product if it was more user friendly. overall i was just disatisfied with the magellan explorist 400.

okay... "let out a frustrating sigh" i am a new owner of a magellan explorist 400. and i am not new to GPS, my last unit was a Etrex legend. My biggest problem is transferring files from the geocache manager to the memory (internal or SD). when i call up the file, it's there, but i cannot for the life of me make it a GOTO waypoint. i get to the very end of the file which is SD/Geocaching/Corridinate(the file i downloaded)i select the file, i press enter, and nothing. I noticed that the file is saving as a .gs file, but doesn't it need to be a .LOC or a .GPX file? i've read the referance manal many times, and magellan isn't to clear on using the geocache software that comes with it. i like the unit, but it has become one giant headache to figure out how to use files i save to it. do i need to convert the file in the conversion software that came with the unit? if so, how the hell do i use it? no mention anywhere that i have to convert files from the geocach program? like i said i really like the unit, but if i can't get the dadgum thing figured out, i'm going to exchange it for another garmin, seems like a real pain to deal with. any information would be greatly appricated PS. and why can't i format the SD card using the unit? i read that other magellans can format the card? i don't have the option to do so

I am sorry to have to ask this here and I am hoping that I am just being silly, but kind of new to the whole GPS world and was hoping maybe someone could help me out. I uploaded a "point of interest/waypoint" into my Magellan but how do I make it so it maps a goto for me. I clicked on the GOTO button and found the file but that is as far as I can get. Am I just being silly? I really hope that someone can help me because I would love to do more geocaching but am kind of stuck right now with this new unit.
