  5. "How about putting the "Cache in - Trash out" logo on rolls of trash bags that would fit in a cache. Serve as a reminder to the Cache hunters and good PR for the sport." I think that is a really good idea. Jeremy, Maybe the best thing to do is find a supplier willing to supply ammo cans/containers to you so that you can placealink to them on your website. That way you could get a cut, to help support the site and hopefully you and the supplier would have a lot of extra business. Then maybe have a page on the site for products. You could definately have the bumper stickers and all the different things you would need to start a cache as well as shirts and such. You really could get a lot fo stuff done up with the logo. Maybe in the beginning you could say that you would not place an order until you had at least say 20 people wanting a shirt, that way you could check out the demand for the various products. Thanks for all of your work Jeremy, it really shows! The KGB
  6. Well it seems to me that if you are sitting on top of the location that you have plugged into the GPSr, then it would behave that way because it would have nowhere to point. If that is what you are talking about, if not then just ignore The KGB

  8. You have probably already done so, but you may want to put your request in the following section: California Specific Forum You may get more responses because that forum covers folks in the state of Cali. Hope this helps and good luck, can't wait to read the article. The KGB

  10. GC324E: That means nothing, it is just the Waypoint name that the website generates. When you enter the coordinates into your Etrex, you can name them anything that you want. You can enter your name if you like. When do you use that number? Well if you download the coordinates from the site, and you look at the list on the etrex after downlaoding, that will be thee name so you would have to match the waypoint name(GC324E) with the correct page on the website to know the description etc. The KGB

  12. Let's cut throught it..... The EU is basically run by the French. How the EU will hold together being run by the French, I don't know. I can't imagine the Germans giving up their nationhood over the French, but I digress. The French have an inferiority complex and the EU is going to try and compete with the US on EVERYTHING. That is the point of the EU. They want to be the moeny standard and they want to be the superpower, they want to leave the US in the dust whenever and wherever they can. Thats fine with me because there isnothing like competition. If they want to throw up a GPS like system, go ahead, but how many people do you think will really pay for a system that they can get for free, espically when they figure out that they have already paid for the system once. I wish the EU all the best but I for one sure wouldn't want to have to consult with Mexico or Canada everytime we want to lower taxes or pass legislation. The EU is an enormous beauracracy like the United Nations, and will probably prove to be just as ineffective. The KGB

  14. "Acronyms Whew, I'm glad you didn't name yourselves the Florida Association of Geocachers. " ? How could anyone take this as anything other than a joke, I thought it was very clever, but my goodness some people are so touchy. Jeez The KGB

  16. Wow it sounds like many folks have some pretty fragile children. My recomendation is maybe YOU read the logbook first and if it contains anything you don't want them to read, then either you read the log to them or just don't let them read it. It's not that difficult really and chances are, if they are old enough to go romping through the woods, more than likely they have already heard the words at school, from their parents or on television. I am in total support of protecting your kids, they learn way too much at a much too early age. I just think that since you are there supervising them, which I applaud, just make sure they don't read it first. The KGB

  18. First- James fix your signature, it's lose not loose. I have a ritual that I do everytime I go on a cache hunt. I take with me 2 bottles of water, not the big ones, you know the little squirt bottles, I also take with me a 30-30 Winchester and fire 14 random shots in the woods before I start out on the "path". On my way out of the woods after I have found the loot, I light small fires along the path. The KGB

  22. Gee I am sure glad this came up, normally when hiding a cache I will just hide the container say behind a tree. I will then take a piece of rope andswing it over the nearest branch above the cache. I will then take a ventilated nylon bag and fill it with pounds of meat and hoist it up the tree. I also bring out a deer feeder and fill it with all manner of animal food and set it about 5 feet away from the cacheand let it do its thing. I also hide those really big bear traps all around the cacheslightly buried, theres no way a bear could see them. Is this wrong? The KGB

All you need to do if that happens is to hit the back button and then click on the post reply again. I am not sure why it is doing this but just use the back button, it seems to werk for me. The KGB
  25. Thoguht it would be a good idea to have a topic for newbies (like me) to read and for novices-experts to post. basically what I am asking for is advice for those of us that are new to the hobby, what I would like is a "do" and a "don't". Please keep it short, like one sentance a piece, I think it would be a great way for those just getting started to have good advice before ever going out on a hunt...example: 1)DO: Write clearly in the logbook at the cache 2)DON'T: Run through the woods, drunk firing a shotgun. You get the idea The KGB
