  1. I have used this when I owned the Venture and it worked perfect. In fact, I used it with my Garmin V also with no problems. Kar
  2. Keep an eye on the calendar of events or just check back here in the northeast forum from time to time. As brian mentioned, they are not usually planned this far in advance. Depending on where you are from in the NE, this is usually the best place to look for up coming events. Hope this helps! Kar
  3. Tonight was alot of fun, not that I had expected otherwise. Im sorry I never posted on the page that I will be coming, but I always jynx myself when I do and I end up not being able to show. Tonights turnout was most impressive. They just keep getting bigger and better! Thanks Mark for putting together another fine event and great meeting everyone!
  4. Yes! It was most excellent meeting you tonight OMW, congrats on your milestone!
  5. This sounds like fun! So long as I am free you can count me in, especially if we will be doing an overnite w/ camping! Kar
  6. I signed up this morning, I think this is a great thing to contribute too. I have two PC's running 24/7, so I might as well put them to use since they are just sucking power anyway. If there is a geocaching team, let me know where to sign up! Same goes for starting one Kar
  7. Occasionally someone will post about a cache and ask if anyone would like to join them, just as you have done with the Dater Mine Cache. It is never for a simple park-n-grab types, but usually a group hike to hit a bunch of caches or tackle one tough cache. No matter what, it is always fun and I always look forward to getting together, I have never met a cacher I did not like! Kar
  8. Good Luck fly46! There are no BPS stores where I live, but I have always loved thumbing through the catalog they would send to my house. If there was a BPS store in my vicinity, I would work there if the pay was right Kar
  9. Not to sound negative, but something tells me your not going to hear much more than what you can already find in countless articles that have been in both papers, magazines and on TV. GC.com is not a publicly traded company, so don't expect to see what kind of revenues the site has made or stands to make, it is personal information, plain and simple. What I do feel would be a good idea would be to have Jeremy featured in the very first issue of Todays Cacher that hits the presses, he definately deserves front page of the very first printed issue. Just my two coppers! Kar
  10. Why not head to the oldest cache in Harriman, Boston Cache placed in November of 2000. There are plenty more in the area, so you can easily make a loop or two or three. Kar
  11. I recently ordered the six pack from Cheaperthandirt.com and with shipping ($7.99) it comes to $4.66 a piece. Not a bad deal at all. These are the .30 caliber size. Kar
  12. I use a Garmin V with a Quad Helix antenna and rarely lose a lock when in dense coverage, but it does happen whether I would like to admit it or not. I have never lost lock to the point where I would rip out my external and hook it up, but I always have it in my caching bag "just in case". Now, using the same GPS in NYC, I have no choice but to use an external antenna. The quad helix may be a great antenna to use while caching in a dense forest, but it certainly sucks when trying to navigate around a city filled with skyscrapers!! One more thing, just about any map company will not accept trails that have been mapped out using a GPS unless an external antenna has been used to obtain them. The way I see it, using an external antenna for caching is not always practical due to the fact that is shortens battery life due to the fact that the externals are amplified. Afterall, they need to get their amplifying power from someplace. Kar
  13. Many Congrats to you!! Kar of TS!
  14. This is no caching dog due to the fact that she does not mesh well with other dogs, but she is loved by everyone who enters our home...invited that is Meet Nina, the spoiled super dog!
  15. LOL....Mark, you crack me up!! Great news Helmut! I hope this does'nt mean that Kellog has to go Kar
  16. The parking attribute is nice, however having the ability to enter coords would make it all the better. I understand that it can always be added to the body of the cache description to avoid cluttering the page, but its nice to have it all in one place. In all I like the new service and thank you for implementing it into the cache pages. Kar of TS!
  17. Wow! Congrats indeed!! Very impressive indeed and what a cache to do it at. Kar of TS!!
  18. I held off on buying one of these for far too long. Im not a water drinker, I rarely ever drink water. Coffee on the other hand, is always plentiful in my house. Every time I looked into one of these packs I just couldn't see spending the money for a plastic bag that held water... Everytime I go hiking I would always be extremely tired (more so in hot weather) by the time I would get back to my car. This is due to the fact that I would be dehydrated, a potentially dangerous situation to boot. The first one I bought was a cheapy $20 model, it was small and very uncomfortable to wear and the hose kept dripping and dripping. Then I picked up the Camelbak Hawg w/ 100oz bladder. What a difference! This was quite comfortable to wear and it kept my water ice cold. Before each hike I fill it with ice and top off with water. Only once did I run out of water, it was a hot day and I had already hiked around 9 or 10 miles over very hilly terrain. Aside from that one day, I have never run out of water again and I feel a LOT better after a rigorous hike. Plus, I have room to store my gear and snacks! As for the funny taste, I haven't noticed anything yet, but I do empty it as soon as I get home and wash it well. I use paper towel to dry it out as best as I can and hang it up for a good 24-48 hours before putting it back inside the pack. Shown here is the Camelbak Hawg:
  19. Im afraid I will not be able to come as I had originally hoped and planned.... Good Luck Everyone (staying warm and dry too!!) Kar of TS!
  20. I have purchased a few items from your site and I can vouch that they are top notch! I nearly lost a finger on more than one occasion trying to cut out a stencil for an ammo box identification, thats when I let my fingers do the walking and found your most excellent geocache stencil. They can be used over and over again too! I also picked up a few Travel Bug ID tags, although I have yet to use them. Soon...very soon! Kar of TS!!
