  1. Nice try! OK, here are the rules for the TB race: 1) The flags can only be moved by left handed players on Monday, Tuesday and Friday and every other Saturday. 2) Right handed players can move it the other days except Sunday and Holidays.... What if your ambidextrous
  2. Well, your already a premium member, so you might as well spend the $8 for Cachemate and set yourself up a pocket querie or two. Cachemate realy simplifies the use of a palm pilot and geocaching. It has got to be the one program I use most on my palm pilot aside from using it as an mp3 jukebox when Im in the car! Also, if you choose not to purchase cachmate, you could set up a pocket querie in ebook format and download a free ebook reader form Freepalm.com Hope this helps!
  3. I'll usually give it a good 20 mins or so, but it also depends on the situation. If I am getting eaten alive by skeeters or other bugs, Im going to decrypt the hint alot quicker! I cache with a Palm Pilot, so decrypting the hint is just a stylus click away if need be. Kar
  4. I too read this story when it was originally brought up here in the forums. Twas good reading back then, especially since I had not really known much of the whole Chernobyl incident. It is very sad to say the least. HBO had a story on it several months back and apparently you could live there if you really wanted to, nobody is stopping you. They interviewed a few natives of the area who refused to leave, claiming this was their home and it is all they have. However, children are not allowed, and if you are caught rasing children there you can get in serious trouble with the government. In one interview the camerman and reporter were lead into a house containg a small child and the residents quickly hid the child away in fear of someone finding out about it. I had a feeling the girls story was a bit exaggerated. One thing we need to remember is, just because its on the web does not mean it is true!! Kar of TS!! Edited for spelling...
  5. People always bring up the idea that micros are good for handicap folks, well just to let you know that in all the micros I have found over the last three years (and I've found my fair share), maybe, just maybe 5 of them were easy for the disabled. To me, thats just a poor argument for micros. I have nothing against micros aside from the fact that 90% lack creativity. They were put there to pad the cache hiders numbers or were simply too cheap/lazy to put something better together. Come on folks...do you really mean to tell me that you enjoy crawling under the bleachers of your local ballfield or rummaging through a flower garden at your local war memorial? Kar of TS!!
  6. I don't think micros should be banned, but folks really ought to relax on placing them just for the sake of placing a cache. My area was once micro free, but it is now becoming micro heaven. I can't see how someone finds fun searching under bleachers in a ballpark or a hide-a-key stuck to a stop sign. Its not like these are handicap friendly and they certainly aren't creative. You want to place a micro? Take me to a spooky desolate road and place it on a guardrail, or somplace unique or perhapse exciting. Or, maybe something with a view or a historical spot. Oh wait...I forgot, its all about numbers
  7. Congrats to the both of you!!
  8. Congrats to a most excellent family of cachers!
  9. Yea this does sound like fun, however I too plan to be in CT for the Jamboree. Kar
  10. In my experience, the NavTech maps are quite up to date, especially compared to the older Tiger data they used in MetroGuide. However, there are little things I like about both and mix and match mapsets to get the best of both. One thing I do find very disappointing is that many the POIs included are very long out of date. They are quick to ask you to send in updated information but they are even quicker to charge you $150 for the new info when they update it I emailed them once and mentioned to them that anyone who contributes updated information should get free upgrades or at least a nice discount, my email went unanswered. Kar
  11. When I first purchased a Garmin V, I placed it side by side with a Garmin Venture and they interfered with each other. They worked fine when seperated, but whenever they were right next each other, they would both lose lock on satellites. Kar
  12. Congrats on the milestone, NB!! Kar
  13. Congrats Team DEMP!! Always a pleasure caching with ya, can't wait to do it again!! Kar
  14. Now c'mon. We all know GC.com is loaded with ridiculously lame "grandfathered" virtuals, that have no criteria for logging, or can easily be looked up on the internet. Since this is the all New Jersey all the time forum, I needn't mention a certain virtual in a Theatre parking lot off of US1 that has absolutely no criteria for logging, and whose encrypted hint tells you exactly what it is. (And has been adopted by one of the most respected members of the caching community). Psssst....thats why virtuals are no longer permitted! While its true that GC at one time would approve almost anything, that was when they first started out. Within a year and a half to two years, they put a stop to virtuals and locationless caches or as some would say "caches that have NO redeeming value". NC on the other hand saw an opportunity to jump on the bandwagon a short while after GC was born and has not adopted any such regulations what so ever. I may be wrong, but I assume its out of desperation to get members. Lets face it, GC has a few hundred thousand members while NC have only a couple thousand...if that. Also, look at all the changes GC has implemented over the years, like new icons and such...its not long before NC copies them with some cheesy looking MS Paint graphics. It almost seems like NC may have been created by a disgruntled ex GC member I have nothing against the other sites, I just like GC.com Kar
  15. And a new baby rattle for Team Bam Bam!! Kar
