  1. I use the Maratac Bail Out Bag for my gear. It's usually something I keep in the car. When I need to walk quite a distance, depending on where I am going, I will load all of my stuff up in my Camelback Blowfish or Camelback Alpine Explorer. Here's a video I just made of what I carry in my Maratac Bail Out Bag - (It's my first video attempt, so please be nice.)
  2. I looked at all of the caches in my county (Orange) and Los Angeles County and noticed a huge hole in the more crime ridden areas. If you look at the map, you will see that Santa Ana and Stanton (in Orange County) and certain parts of LA County (El Monte, Compton, East LA, Huntington Park all the way south to Wilmington) have very few caches. Most of the really bad areas around don't have any, so I can't say that I have gone searching in any bad areas yet. Although, I have just started out too. The west side of my city doesn't have very many caches, except in some of the parks (aka daytime homeless hotels). I haven't been to any of those yet, but plan to soon. Those will probably be th most dangerous until I decide to search for some bordering Santa Ana.
  3. I'd recommend heading down to Newport Beach, Balboa Island, and Upper Newport Bay area. There are lots of small caches, a few micros, a webcam cache, and an earth cache. And this is one of the best areas to visit in southern California.
